I recently stayed at Hookwood Lodge near London Gatwick. The self check-in process was smooth — the key was waiting in an envelope by the door, which made arrival easy and convenient. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well stocked, with a very comfy bed that made for a good night’s sleep. However, there were a few drawbacks. Parking was quite limited, and despite being advertised, there were no electric vehicle charging facilities available. Additionally, the tap water was undrinkable, which was disappointing. This property was very nice and convenient to Gatwick airport. The large property was lovely to enjoy walking or just sitting inside or outside. Would love to revisit. The Black Horse restaurant was a very short walk away.

It was ok for the price. Looks more like a massive car park than a hotel. No lift. Got stones in our shoes and was difficult to wheel luggage across surface.

Quite remote and difficult to get into via gate intercom. Airport shuttle was completely booked which was a shock since we arrived late at night and needed to get to the airport first thing in the morning. First staff member we spoke to was not helpful at all but another one stepped in and sorted out transportation for us.

The self parking was relatively easy but the carpark was very busy. Otherwise, clear instructions on the self check-in on arrival and getting the room keys. Nice room, clean and comfortable.

Received check in instructions immediately following booking but had to wait until noon on the day of check-in for security code to entrance gates. Self Check-in. Picked up envelope in a basket inside the reception porch with key to entrance door and room. Stayed in Room 12, which was a double superior ensuite bedroom with garden view. This was a large bedroom with a comfortable double bed, but the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Would have benefitted from a selection of hard and soft pillows to suit occupants. Lovely bathroom with shower only. Did have a problem with my shaver not working in the shaver socket. This was a quiet room on the ground floor, ideal for an elderly couple. Overnight parking free. Extended parking available for a fee, arranged through Tudor Rose, which offers a 10% discount. Gatwick Airport transfers available. Highly recommended accommodation, a 4 mins drive to the terminals.

Hotel room was dirty when we arrived with stains on the table. The location is pretty inaccessible from the airport without a car. The housekeeper had a room available for early check in but only allowed us to check in for an extra £30, there was no policy regarding this in place. Housekeeper was very unfriendly.

Although in a good location for Gatwick access (10 minutes drive to the North Terminal) our room was not clean, pillows cheap and poor service, when we arrived there was no heating, the mobile contact was not interested. It is a low quality hotel. How it gets 8.6 on Expedia I do not know.

Great location for a night before a flight from Gatwick and walking distance to a great pub for dinner. Repeat visitor. Self check-in and out is great too, no hassle and self-explanatory. The Black Horse is a bustling pub with good food and service nearby and within walking distance. My only gripe would be that our shower room needed a deep clean as it smelt of urine.

Lovely quaint little hotel. Just like they used to be lol. Very clean and spacious room with all the facilities. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk unlike many of the bigger hotels where there’s never enough. Free WiFi and 1st night parking free. Will defo be back. Highly recommended.

Lovely property for our overnight stay between flights. Garden room was very comfortable and clean, with superb decor. All the amenities you need, and lovely grounds for walking. Close to airport but no noise. Good choices for dining locally. Would definitely recommend, and stay here again.

Really pleasant stay. Great price, especially with parking included. Room was comfortable, clean and had everything one could want. Shower could do with an upgrade to something more powerful, but that didn’t ruin our stay. Nice and peaceful location. Amenities close by. Would stay here again.

Overall good. Grounds were gorgeous. Sadly, we weren’t given the gate code before arrival. We weren’t aware we needed one until we got there. Couldn’t find someone to help us until the next day so we were stranded at the hotel. Not enough options to hang clothes, only 3 hooks. Hand held mirror was dirty. A door knob was missing from bathroom door. Hot water was hard to get. The rocks in the parking lot made for a lot of noise of cars in & out.

Our room was very large with a double bed, several chest of drawers, double settee, single armchair, large tv, clothes hanging rail, and large bathroom. Parking was a bit of a problem as there were few spaces. Our room key was in an envelope in the front porch so there was no contact with any staff. The grounds are lovely and there is a good pub only a few minutes walk up the road. Car parking for Gatwick can be arranged for this site.

Nice hotel in nice grounds. Excellent for quickly getting to Gatwick airport. Couldn't hear any planes. Room was great, with a few nice touches, like cotton wool buds, lots of tea, coffee, sugar and milk, and free WiFi. Walls are paper thin and we heard our next door neighbor's TV until 1.30am in the morning. No screen or curtain on the shower, so the water basically went all over the bathroom floor. USB outlets didn't work.

Check in was fine, the room was very comfortable, room nice and warm. There is no lift so if you have a big case like mine as for a ground floor. The place is very quiet but the walls are thin you can hear everything anyone is doing throughout the night. But as a whole it was nice however the cost of the taxi there and hotel transfer back, I would next time stay nearer the hotel. Its great if you are driving your own car

We liked the room it was big and functional, clean and tidy. The only downside is if you are unlucky with other guests who don’t care about those around them like the couple above us. That of course is not a reflection on the property, which has lovely grounds and a really nice pub for food a 3 minute walk away. Parking is also very good and we would come back again. I would say pillows are a bit hard but apart from that great stay and worth the money

The property was lovely and quiet. The check in was fine, but we had no instructions on where to park and we didn’t have the code to the gate. Due to traffic we arrived after 4:30. We were not aware we had to book the shuttle to the airport before hand. Unfortunately my phone did not always work for telephone calls.

We only stayed in Hookwood Lodge for a short night before catching a very early flight from Gatwick airport. Check in was very easy and the room was clean and comfortable. We arranged transport to the airport and the driver was very punctual. We couldn't ask for more. We'll definitely stay there again if we book another early flight

I was not given a code to get in the gate luckily a shuttle pulled up to let me in. When I went out the garden I wedged the gate open so I could get back in. When I rang to ask a question the person answering was very curt short with me Boasts it’s peaceful Very noisy room next door until 2am

Hotel room was dirty when we arrived with stains on the table. The location is pretty inaccessible from the airport without a car. The housekeeper had a room available for early check in but only allowed us to check in for an extra £30, there was no policy regarding this in place. Housekeeper was very unfriendly.

The property was lovely and quiet. The check in was fine, but we had no instructions on where to park and we didn’t have the code to the gate. Due to traffic we arrived after 4:30. We were not aware we had to book the shuttle to the airport before hand. Unfortunately my phone did not always work for telephone calls.

Quite remote and difficult to get into via gate intercom. Airport shuttle was completely booked which was a shock since we arrived late at night and needed to get to the airport first thing in the morning. First staff member we spoke to was not helpful at all but another one stepped in and sorted out transportation for us.

Such a beautiful stay, 10/10 for my last night in the UK. Room was lovely for the price, it was not at all what I was expecting. The location in comparison to the airport was super convenient. Also, the bar/restaurant down the road (2 minute walk) was so atmospheric, so yummy, and the prices were fairly reasonable! They put lots of effort into providing every guest with as many recommendations as possible in the guest binder too which was amazing! Not something you see often. Loved it.

Very comfortable room for our overnight stay and very convenient for Gatwick. There was a nice pub a couple of minutes walk away. Lovely setting and would stay here again.

This property was very nice and convenient to Gatwick airport. The large property was lovely to enjoy walking or just sitting inside or outside. Would love to revisit. The Black Horse restaurant was a very short walk away.

Nice overnight stay before going on an early flight from Gatwick the next morning. Great pub close by to have a drink and dinner. The hotel also offer airport transfer for £15.

Ideally located for Gatwick with an park and fly option. I arrived on the evening of Christmas so there were no staff in evidence, however the keys were left out for me and I was generally kept well informed and give the gate access code. All in all a comfortable and well managed stay, but given it was Christmas, there wasn’t any catering in offer.

It’s a self check in property, they send the gate code, drive in, get the envelope with your room key, let yourself in. Very clean, comfy bed. My only complaint was lack shower curtain, end up with puddle on the floor. We had to return our vehicle to green motion car hire, which we found out was 3 minutes drive, so convenient!

Clean room, shower could use a curtain to avoid any splashes. Not that many power outlets but ok. Free parking. Close to Tesco about 10min walk. Pub close to location.

The property is very serviceable and was comfortable and convenient for an overnight stay before flying out of Gatwick. Interestingly, the hallways are air-conditioned, but the rooms are not, which I find to be an interesting choice, given where guests spend most of their time. That's the primary reason for only four stars. Otherwise, it was good value for money.
