Is what it is, a room above a pub. Could do with a refresh and an update. Room wasn’t clean and the bed was quite uncomfortable. Annoyingly the local church bell rings on the hour every hour, so not a peaceful night sleep. Food menu was okay however half of it was sold out. Worked for what we needed as a stay, roof over head and somewhere to sleep for 1 night. Recommend if your looking for a cheap stay south of the Peak District with convenient walks and connections to other villages and towns within 10-30 minute.

The Old Poets Corner is a lovely pub in a perfect location. Lots of real ales on tap, walking trails on the doorstep and a lovely village to explore. Lovely cafe (that doubles as a post office) 5 mins round the corner. 2 other pubs on the doorstep. Views are amazing.

I have never been treated so poorly as at this hotel. Upon arrival staff were generally unwelcoming, just gave me my key and that was that. Later I came down to request milk for my room, the person I spoke with audibly sighed and huffed and puffed to go get it. Upon return he said there was no milk. I expressed my disappointment as I really wanted a cuppa (having been hiking all day). Walked off expressing disappointment to myself to which he then shouted WHAT ARE YOU SAYING! I carried on walking as his voice was very intimidating to which he further shouted across the pub in front of diners SAY WHAT YOUR SAYING TO MY FACE! I was forced to address him to say all I was saying to myself was my disappointment and that he shouldn't be speaking with a paying customer at his hotel in such a way. Went to my room and barricaded myself in. Felt so uncomfortable there I got up early and left so I wouldn't have to see him again. As a solo female traveller he may me feel very intimidated. Completely unacceptable behaviour. It's a shame as the room itself was fairly nice and comfortable with nice views.

The room was clean, Staff excellent, Bar fully stocked, Wifi good. Room was very small 10foot wide 20foot long, bed very soft, no good for people with back problems. Advertised as B&B cleaner had to get manager in to do breakfast which was basically a bacon sandwich. No breakfast the following day even though it was the chef who let us out of building!
