Holiday Motel

I hate to say this but the fall of the mom and pop hotel industry is starting to grate on me. Without sounding like a horrible human being I can’t stand the rudeness of some specific hotel managers that seem to manage all affordable hotels. I have left my bags at hundreds of other properties so I can enjoy my day in their fair city and spend my money on various things without lugging around my bags. I picked this hotel after reading the paid-for reviews because the other negative reviews are pretty spot-on after being at this hotel. This hotel closeness to the airport and close to a place I was visiting in the evening. I did send this hotel a message on hotels.com asking about luggage and didn’t receive any response. So I paid for a Lyft to the hotel in the morning after my early flight and after getting dropped off I rang the door bell noticed the unused lobby as most of these places have switched entirely to night windows. So the lobby sits unused. I asked if I could store my luggage and the person said no… I’m like what about this lobby and the response they didn’t want the responsibility. I know I can’t check in till 3:00 so that’s understandable. The room was eh (no bugs) the side table had burn marks on it from another person, the drapes had a rough life and I couldn’t get the water to hit a good temp it was odd. Night was exhausting as well, there was a truck that was running most of the night. The final thing was my keycard stopped working because of the time change.

It was a very peaceful night. The tv could have been a little bigger. The shower was nice and new and clean with better than average toiletries.

Good size room quiet for the most part staff is available 24/7

The hotel staff person was very nice, but locked behind a small window and it was easy to see why. The front office was always locked. This property is in a troubled neighborhood. There was garbage everywhere and a pile of cigarette butts outside of the door. There were drug addicts folded over across the street. Our next door neighbor was coughing all night long. I would not let my kids walk in this neighborhood. That said, the room was clean, the air conditioner worked, and the price was affordable.

It’s a cheap place in Portland. It’s not amazing but it’s my preferred cheap place in Portland. They’re cleaner than many other cheap PDX places for the same price.
