This was so fun! The room was great & the little "hidden" notes all over the room were fun to read. The only downfall was that the elevator wasn't working, but we were made aware of that immediately after the reservation was made.

The hotel has NO Illuminated sign of any sort, which forced us to call for direction on how to find it when we arrived after dusk. The remote night attendant answered promptly but the keypad at the front door entrance kept turning off, making it difficult to get in. The room was nice but the curtains on the windows are not wide enough to block out all street lighting.

Great night stay. Really large room and I loved the rain shower. The brick wall in the room stuffed with little notes people write was unique. The trains run all night but it was not a problem since we always travel with ear plugs. Glad they had the elevator in the back to haul up luggage. Great restaurant across the street

Was very nice and clean. Only complaint is the elevator was out and had to walk up 20+ stairs with luggage. Should’ve gave a little bit of a discount. But was great except for that.

This is such a cute historic building and the room we stayed in was excellent, very pretty, clean, and comfortable and had a good view of the town and the larger than life attractions! You should be aware though that there is no front desk or lobby. You will be texted your codes to enter the building and your room which we were fine with. Also there are many stairs up to the rooms but there is a quirky elevator out back that does work in case you don't do stairs and to make getting your luggage up to your room easier. Overall, this is such a cute place in a very cute town, definitely worth a visit!

It was close to all the attractions. The $10 breakfast credit was easy to use at a choice of local restaurant. We received a code to enter the building and room. Staff were very professional and informative. Highly recommend and would stay again. Great place in a quaint little town.

This is a great historic building, turned into a beautiful hotel. The elevator is a strange experience, but very cool once you're used to it and absolutely necessary (the stairs are steep). Wow! Our room was beautiful, very clean and perfect for a family of 5. It is right downtown and eight or more of the Worlds Largest sculptures were within a 5 minute walk! I highly recommended this sleepover spot!

My daughter found this property online while we were traveling home from Kansas City. When we first pulled up, I wasn't so sure we had made a good choice. But then we went inside our room and felt so at home and so comfortable. This is one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed in. Every detail was beautiful. The bed was comfortable, the room was spotless, and everything worked properly. We would definitely stay here again.

Convenient location. Clean and accessible. Obviously the trains going through less than a block away isn't ideal, but there's not anything that can be done about that. Having an A/C vent right above the bed, with no way to shut it off or adjust the temperature was a real problem. Otherwise, the atmosphere was good and it was a nice room.

Great location to walk around town and see the ‘Big Things’. Nicely appointed room, not your average hotel. Enjoyed the historic building and all its character. The grandchildren were intrigued by the elevator. I would definitely stay again if in the area.

The room was a nice size and what I thought it would look like but unfortunately the elevator was not working and the only way to get to our room was to walk up and down 24 stairs and to some this may not be a bother but I am disabled and have a very hard time climbing stairs. Also if you stay in room 202 you will be constantly hearing people walking up and down the stairs even through out the night. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable too.

For room 202 - Pros - kind people, great service, unique building, location, unique elevator, comfortable room temperatures, unique brick wall to hide notes, large shower with rain head, felt safe and secure, and provided large fan. Cons - noise from other people on floors or on stairs, needs insulation between rooms badly, there is a tv but it is useless, could get a show started but wifi is so slow that the show would buffer after a sentence or two, tried several different shows and streaming services all the same, has small kitchenette with microwave, sink and fridge but no soap or paper towel for sink, open cabinet door and hinge came loose and door tried to fall, no art at all on the walls, thought art could showcase the history of the building or the town, bed - cute but needs new mattress sinks on both sides, can’t move stuck in the valley, and needs new comforter looking faded.

This is a unique hotel - very charming. Rooms are nicely appointed and clean. My only caution is maybe the obvious - it’s an old hotel. There is little to no sound proofing. Our room was right under the creaky old stairs and it was very very loud.

Had to look twice when we pulled up to figure out how to get in. Received a text with check in codes (how to unlock doors). Room was cute but chilly. They do give you a space heater. We used it because temps in 20’s. Nice shower. Good tv. Comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay. Would stay again!

The temperature of the room was conducive to a good night's sleep. The fan was a good plus. The exposed brick gave the room character. The mini fridge came in handy to keep our beverages cold. We used the free Netflix account a few times. The walls were a bit thin and we could hear the people in adjacent rooms at times. Located in the center of downtown within walking distance up all attractions and two a cute coffee shop.

Tydligen får man inte all information om incheckning om man har internationellt telefonnummer. Vi fick ringa runt till flera olika nummer för att få tag på koder för att komma in. Imte vad man önskar efter en lång bilresa. När vi väl kom in var rummet väldigt rent och rymligt. Vi bodde i ett rum med loft. Men det är OTROLIGT lyhört. Man hörde om någon i rummet bredvid hostade. Boendet ligger dessutom cirka 100 meter från en vältrafikerad järnväg. Det låter som tåget går mitt i rummet. Luftkonditioneringen lät också mycket, trots att vi är vana vid högljudda luftkonditioneringar så stängde vi av den till slut. Skulle aldrig bo här igen. Tur att vi bara stannade en natt. Synd med oljudet på ett annars väldigt trevligt rum. Bra att känna till för resenärer med svårighet att gå i trappor är att det är väldigt branta och smala trappor.

The room was charming and very comfortable. I never received a text from the owners with door code information. Having never stayed there, I didn't expect one. I didn't find this out until we arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes while they tried to get that text to me. Also when we arrived, we were told that the elevator was out of order. Our only access to our room was a steep staircase with about 25 steps. That was the only downside to our stay. The room was very nice and the town was a pleasant area to walk around in.

The room was charming and very comfortable. I never received a text from the owners with door code information. Having never stayed there, I didn't expect one. I didn't find this out until we arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes while they tried to get that text to me. Also when we arrived, we were told that the elevator was out of order. Had to look twice when we pulled up to figure out how to get in. Received a text with check in codes (how to unlock doors). Room was cute but chilly. They do give you a space heater. We used it because temps in 20’s. Nice shower. Good tv. Comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay. Would stay again!

It worked out perfect for our overnight. It was nice & clean. The communication was great. They got right back to us. We enjoyed our stay nice little town neat stuff to see good food and restaurants.

This is a great historic building, turned into a beautiful hotel. The elevator is a strange experience, but very cool once you're used to it and absolutely necessary (the stairs are steep). It's right downtown, so everything is walkable. It isn't really staffed, except a couple of people in the morning, so expect to handle all check-in yourself. Highly recommended if you're looking for something unique.

Tydligen får man inte all information om incheckning om man har internationellt telefonnummer. Vi fick ringa runt till flera olika nummer för att få tag på koder för att komma in. Imte vad man önskar efter en lång bilresa. När vi väl kom in var rummet väldigt rent och rymligt. Vi bodde i ett rum med loft. Men det är OTROLIGT lyhört. Man hörde om någon i rummet bredvid hostade. Boendet ligger dessutom cirka 100 meter från en vältrafikerad järnväg. Det låter som tåget går mitt i rummet. Luftkonditioneringen lät också mycket, trots att vi är vana vid högljudda luftkonditioneringar så stängde vi av den till slut. Skulle aldrig bo här igen. Tur att vi bara stannade en natt. Synd med oljudet på ett annars väldigt trevligt rum. Bra att känna till för resenärer med svårighet att gå i trappor är att det är väldigt branta och smala trappor.

We loved this hotel! It was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was unique! Be sure to look for the notes in the wall from previous guests. We would definitely stay here again! We didn’t mind, but there is a train that runs right by the hotel all day and night.

I love the place! It’s an old historic building but kept clean. Location is very nice, walking distance to cafes and attractions. Room was spacious, clean and comfy beds. Bathroom was clean and spacious as well. Host was responsive. Would recommend this place if visiting Casey.

We stayed overnight on our trip back home to Michigan. The place was so awesome! Renovated so beautifully and the beds were so comfortable. Loved everything about the stay. There is a train track right next door but I didn’t hear any trains between 9pm and 8am. Not sure if that’s a normal schedule but we loved it nonetheless!

This is our third stay here at the 1890 and was wonderful as usual. The bed was comfy, the room spacious, with perfect design. So many nice touches! We used our $10 food voucher at Reflections of the Past across the street and had a wonderful breakfast!

Staff were prompt in giving us our codes and even sent a pic of the front door which made finding the place super easy. We ended up in the only room with no windows so it was a little stuffy but it was great that a fan was provided. Big TV was a huge plus and the bed was very comfortable. Nice towels and good water pressure in the shower. Down side was how much you can hear other guests in the building, but really liked the coupon for breakfast. Would definitely stay again. Went to the barn restaurant for dinner, which was close by. Locals were friendly.

Great night stay. Really large room and I loved the rain shower. The brick wall in the room stuffed with little notes people write was unique. The trains run all night but it was not a problem since we always travel with ear plugs. Glad they had the elevator in the back to haul up luggage. Great restaurant across the street

Nice unique vintage place. Really nice but no AC but there is a rotating fan in the closet that worked perfectly. Really enjoyed the dining options we chose that were all walkable. The “biggest” items were fun to see.

This is an 1890 bldg each room is unique. Note the elevator only goes to 2nd fl and stairs are steep. Checkin is remote no breakfast there is coffee. Discount coupon for nearby breakfast. Our room did not have a window actually since I wake up at dawn it allowed me to sleep in. Decent sized microwave and mini refrig. I could hear people in room next door when they were in bathroom

Beautiful refurbished building, spacious room (201). Very comfortable one night stay. There is a train down the street but it didn’t keep us awake. Food voucher for $10 off our breakfast at a choice of 3 restaurants. WiFi was too slow to use but maybe just needed resetting. We were at end of trip so didn’t need for planning anyway.

Checkin process was unsettling, through a virtual kiosk with an Indian man against a green screen. Weird. The hotel lobby is an empty room and not even the entrance for the rooms. The building is ancient and located next to train tracks that make you feel as if the train is coming through the room several times a night. You can hear every move and step that everyone else in the entire building is making. Didn't sleep at all. The parking is in a separate lot that is dirt and gravel so you get to drag your bags through the mess. All said I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Very cute room! Checking in on a kiosk was ok. You could hear all the other rooms and the adjacent train, so it wasn't a very quiet stay. Location is central to all the "big things". Parking is convenient.
