The Bucking Moose

The parking area is awful and no markings. Ppl were unable to leave to the way ppl were parking. The Back area next store was full of weeds on an empty lot.

The cabin was great for our family. Plenty of space for all 6 of us. Close to everything in West Yellowstone making it very walkable. Kitchen offered all the necessities to cook and eat at the cabin.

Parking was a little difficult.

Construction with a large backhoe was right against our unit. Also sandbags in the front. It rained one night and the area around our steps was very muddy. Also parking is really tight.

We stayed in a loft, which contained a full-size refrigerator and a brand new oven. There’s a third bed loft up top that would be fantastic for kids.

Property was very clean. Make sure you read the email about check-in before you arrive (it will save yourself a lot of confusion). There is no front desk person. Room was comfortable and well -stocked. There is no maid service. Rooms are not all as nice as the ones shown on the website but they were clean and comfortable.

Neat cozy rustic room& comfortable bedding. Convenient keyless entry prompt replies to questions. Fridge microwave coffee maker with K- cups and sweeteners and powder creamer. Real coffee cups and 2 wine glasses. Location in W. Yellowstone close walking distance to restaurants, shops restaurants grocery gas stations and Yellowstone park entery.

We stayed 5 nights, never got checked on or replenished with supplies. Finally got coffe for the machine on our last day.

Bucking Moose felt clean, staff was around cleaning and maintaining the plants - very friendly. Communication was quick and easy. A short walk to downtown and short drive to Yellowstone park entrance.

The property was dirty, smelly and filthy. The price we paid demands higher standard. The stay was unhealthy and disappointing. Basically a rip off.

Super clean

We are former vacation rental owners so that is the lens through which we evaluate lodgings. We stayed in Bucking Moose’s Loft #2. We were 2 people staying in a unit that sleeps 6. Our bed was clean and comfy. Though located on a busy street, not much sound disturbed us. It was great to have a well equipped kitchen (appliances, dishes, pans) where we could enjoy morning coffee, pack lunches for our day trips and cook dinners so we didn’t need to go out at the end of a busy, sometimes tiring, day. Bathroom fixtures were clean and it was nice to have a bathtub to soak in. Starter supplies of bottled water, coffee, dish soap etc were very helpful, and there is a market nearby to buy anything else you might need. SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER: It can be a challenge to schlep a suitcase filled with 6 days worth of clothes and misc. items up a steep stairwell, as there is no elevator. Though the furniture and bathroom fixtures were very clean and the wall decor was quite nice, the carpeting was stained, dirty, or both, which was a big disappointment. Dining chairs and eating utensils would have been a bit under par for a group of 6, though it worked for us. That said, Joseph, the management company’s rep that assisted us with our reservation and questions about Yellowstone prior to our arrival, was very helpful, courteous and professional. We also loved the unit’s proximity to the Park’s entrance, the Grizzly and Wolf Center and the shops in West Yellowstone.

Bed and facilities very good Wolf suite is closest the main road so you get noise but there is also a flat above called the loft and when occupied as it was there are noises with people moving around

The location is definitely prime. It’s 5 minutes to Yellowstone park entrance & even in the long line, people let you in. This rustic cabin vibe is very small. My husband is 6’6 & the shower/toilet space is not ideal. It’s just a really small space. The water pressure in the shower is like a soft rain, although it does get hot! The A/C unit in the cabin is louder than a jet & hooks up to the back window. Plus it takes up a good amount of space in this already tiny room. Again, not ideal if conversations are to be had. It’s really, really loud. If you’re looking for a bed, cramped toilet & small shower while seeing the park, The Bucking Moose is central to all the great starred restaurants & T-shirt shops to walk to. After driving all day, it’s nice to walk to dinner. If you’re above average in size, this space is really small; especially the bathroom. Think tiny house. It’s clean, stocked with Costco Kirkland coffee & bottled water & has clean bedding. Definitely convenient. Just wish it was a little bigger with more updated AC units. The grounds have gorgeous flowers! The parking has a handful of spots in front of each cabin door but slots are narrow with tree roots breaking through the concrete & others park over the line with no rules or etiquette enforced. I’d stay again but not sure the husband could.

Short walks to all dining or other activities. No need to drive other than through the park itself. Stayed in Lynx room #7. Small but clean and nice comfy king bed. Parked ten feet from the door.

No check in office. They sent the pass code to the room door at 3pm to my email. I had no internet service so I couldn't get the code and get into the room. Luckily I was able to phone and get the code. Nice little place but advertised a king bed. It was a queen at best, maybe even a double bed. Not a king. Also toilet gurgled. But it was a cute place to spend the night.

We loved everything about this place, we stayed in the loft , it was very roomy with 3 beds the loft one was cute, i would definitely stay here again.

Wolf Suite 1 was a great place. But it is right on the street. I would absolutely stay there again

The stay was extremely disappointing and we felt deceived by the pictures, as the rooms are comically small. No support was provided from the property after multiple attempts to request an upgrade to one of the cabin rooms, I was ghosted and left to deal with 2 miserable sleepless nights. The pros: The property is well maintained and clean which is great. The parking was easy and most every hotel in west Yellowstone is walking distance to restaurants and stores. The cons: the rooms are insanely small I have no clue how this company gets away with making a room so small. I am 6’1 and was miserable in the room, the bed is for a single person not couples. The bathroom toilet is unusable as it is pushed against the wall and you will bump against the wall each time you get in and out of the shower, beware of the pictures as the room is literally a closet that is decorated nicely. We contacted the property by phone and no answer during business hours, e-mail was the same situation no answer during business hours but I received a response close to 9pm when it is too late to change the rooms or do anything about upgrading. No extra amenities provided they give you just enough for your stay and won’t pick up the phone and ignore you if you request towels, pillows or a blanket ect. The “no front desk” model is a scam. For the money that we paid ($600) we were much better off staying at a no frills motel that offers front desk service and a normal size queen or king bed.

The rooms were very clean, warm and cozy. It is great central location in West Yellowstone. The beds are advertised as queen but they are defiantly full size and we were a bit crowded.

Its a real cute property and rhe rooms are very spacious. The 2 complaints i did have beds are to small and uncomfortable and the tv dir trying to relax is way to small.

Older style motel. They have done work to modernize and update. Kinda noisy. Our room was very small with a tiny bathroom. very close to most restaurants, easy walking distance. About a 5 minute drive to the west entrance of Yellowstone NP.

Be aware that the Wolf Suite #1 that there is a Loft that is above you. Unfortunately you can hear everything the tenant is doing above you, like going to the bathroom and simple moving around. It is also right next to one of the main roads through West Yellowstone so we had that noise as well. We were unaware the loft would be above and we are very light sleepers and did not get any sleep our first night there. I emailed management asking if there was any way to move to a stand alone cabin for the next night if one is not booked and they so graciously let us switch to a cabin. We were so thankful for their responsiveness and willingness to help us out. I would definitely stay here again, now knowing which cabins to book.

I stayed at The Bucking Moose on three separate occasions during a trip to Yellowstone in late April/early May. I stayed in "The Loft", "The Lynx Room" and "The Rabbit Room". (Long story but we were moving around a lot during this trip and thus only spent one night each time we stayed in West Yellowstone.) Property was clean, rooms were spacious enough (especially the loft which has two rooms including a kitchenette and three queen-sized beds.) However, the bathrooms were extremely tight in the rooms I stayed in. The rabbit room also has the mechanical access but that didn't bother us. There is no front desk so check in is super easy -- just put the code that is emailed to you into the door keypad. I only had to call management once but they were easy to get ahold of via phone. I would highly recommend staying here.

Super cute property in a perfect location. Walking distance from food and shopping. Check in was really easy and management went above and beyond to make us comfortable when we requested an air conditioner after they had removed then the the season. Would def stay there again!

Great room. Comfortable. Within easy walking access to groceries, fuel, and dining places. Responsive staff. Well-appointed room (loved having a decent-sized fridge). Check-in and check-out were a breeze. I'll definitely stay there next time.

We had been on the road all day and wanted to possibly check in early. When we got to the front desk, they were very accommodating and made arrangements for us to be able to get to our cabin early. Every interaction we had with the staff was beyond pleasant. The cabin itself was very clean and well maintained. Great place to stay!!

Host texted and left a voice mail with all pertinent information. I just need to see if i can get a receipt for our stay.

Could not access room at check in, someone had to meet us to open our door after code didn’t work. Not nearly as nice as the pictures show. Lastly it’s in an alley in town not a cabin in any sort of wilderness.

Park was close. Easy check in and out ! Everything walking distance. Love the cabins!

We love these little cabins in the middle of everything. We walked at night....very safe. Close to park entrance We would recommend and will be back!

Easy walking distance to town for shopping or dining. The stay is within a 5 minute drive from Yellowstone, making it very convenient to those traveling for this reason. Hosts communicated recommendations and made themselves available if needed.

We stayed at a Bucking Moose cabin while enjoying time at Yellowstone. It was very convenient to West Yellowstone for dinners and our days at Yellowstone National Park. Just perfect for what we needed, thank you.
