Wonderfully presented rooms. Good quality classical features but modern. Amazing walk in shower. I liked the toiletries and that they were full size with a polite request to leave them or they would be chargeable. Plenty of water and tea/coffee provided. Bed was a bit soft for me and sofa bed for the kids was quite small but adequate. It was a particularly hot day and we were on the ground floor, the only 'window' in the room was a door, leading to a pathway at the back of the beer garden. It was on a safety latch but I was concerned leaving it open during the night, so it was rather warm. I did not ask for a fan but it would be useful to know if one is available if needed. We had an evening meal & breakfast there and enjoyed both. Easy access to Bicester Village and road links but far enough away in a lovely quiet village. No problem parking at the hotel during our visit. I would definitely stay here again & recommend it.

The Lion is an excellent place to stay - great food and really nice rooms. The rooms have a really good level of equipment with a coffee maker etc. The restaurant was very good, really nice food and good service. Breakfast was very good - but not great for business travellers, as it doesn't start until 8am. Bringing this forward to 7.30am would make all the difference (but maybe not to those going to Bicester Village!) I would also really recommend adding a couple of electric car chargers - it would be easy to do just inside the gate, and would make a huge difference - it is one of the things I look for in all hotels nowadays.

Easy parking, check in ok, room was nice shower was very good, restaurant menu was good, breakfast good if little expensive, drinks choice was very good, room service was poor, room not serviced as requested, nice stay overall , staff were friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed our stay in a lovely, cozy room with access to the garden. Only complaint is the mattress could be upgraded as it was worn and springy. Otherwise it was a perfect stay and we loved the ambience and village feel.

A lovely place to stay. Where to check in is slightly confusing and could be better signposted. Friendly little cat wandering around site too. Only minor problem was nowhere to drop key off for an early check out. I had to leave my key in the room after searching for a Dropbox / letterbox for 10 minutes as had to leave before 7:30am. A suggestion would be somewhere to leave these. There was also not much direction on details in the room I.e. no breakfast menus or local information or anything surrounding check out. All minor and a lovely stay

Hotel reception is in the pub, which is a little awkward on a Friday night with bags. We booked a superior room but was put in a very small superior room with a small box window which made it dark. The en-suite bathroom had a skylight window that was covered in bird poo and overlooked our privacy. We left out to eat elsewhere as we had missed the 9pm deadline in the pub for food. Arriving back to the room later that night, it had a sewage smell. The superior bed is 2 beds bolted together with separate mattresses so we kept rolling into the middle which felt like a hole. An uncomfortable night was had. Breakfast was lovely and everything was cooked well and tasted nice. We asked the young man at reception to change our room, he was very polite about it and sorted it out quickly. We changed rooms to another superior room which was over twice the size of the last superior we slept in. This room had large doors letting in a lot of light, it was airy, which is what we initially expected (as in photos displayed) on arrival. The beds were still uncomfortable with a gap and the pillows were very flat but it was ok. We were allowed to check out an hour later at 12pm as we requested. The cleanliness of the rooms differed from one to another. Our overall stay wasn’t anything to shout about, just ok. Most of the staff were polite and friendly, especially the manager on reception.

Room was overall very good but let down by shower drain blocked with hair etc. Bed was comfortable but the underblanket was stained. Staff were friendly and helpful although the waiting staff in the dining room should have been more attentive. Details meant as constructive criticisms. Overall very good and we would stay again.

Check in was fast. The room allocated to me was easily accessible and very spacious. The plumbing system needs to be repaired. I found something floating in the wc when I first got into the room. Thought the housekeeping did not do a thorough job, but after I flushed the toilet, the floating objects kept reappearing. It was rather disgusting. The hotel has a pub and food was good, service was great too.

Clean comfortable room, super king bed, good shower. No opening windows so patio door needs to be open with a restriction. Sunday roast was very good, a bit slow but 20 odd people showed up late & unexpected for a meal. Refurbished and modernised to a high standard.

Really nice pub with nice rooms in a newly built outbuilding. The restaurant was very good with dinner and breakfast both being excellent. My only (very slight) issue is the build of the flooring in the new building is a little poor, being able to hear people moving up and down the stairs. That being said there aren’t many people moving around so not too bad Certainly will stay again.

Welcoming staff, food excellent standard and quality. Rooms were spacious & very well appointed. The only downside was the sofa bed was very uncomfortable.

Been several times to this wonderful pub, but this year we ate the most amazing food! The stafff are very friendly and the atmosphere was fabulous. We would definitely recommend The Lion

Stay was ok......only one person taking orders for breakfast so had to wait a while. No remote for the tv.....manager said nothing he could do so no tv all weekend.

Second time we have stayed from going to Bicester Village, lovely pub, food, staff and rooms are amazing all helpful had a misunderstanding with bill and was sorted straight away cannot say anything negative really welcoming

We stayed here for 3 nights for a birthday treat. It was wonderful. Everything from start to finish has made us want to come back. The pub/restaurant was lovely- friendly staff who go above and beyond. We ate here every night and our meals were fabulous. Breakfasts are great and set you up for the day. The locals were so kind and helpful and really made our stay. They gave us advice on places to visit and how to get there- including the brilliant bus service (S5 goes straight from Wendlebury to Oxford) Our room was beautiful. Spacious, comfortable and clean. Despite being so close to a duel carriageway we never heard it- the location is perfect for a quiet getaway, while being in close proximity to the beautiful Oxford and for those who love shopping- Bicester village.

Room was overall very good but let down by shower drain blocked with hair etc. Bed was comfortable but the underblanket was stained. Staff were friendly and helpful although the waiting staff in the dining room should have been more attentive. Details meant as constructive criticisms. Overall very good and we would stay again.

The town of Wendlebury is not the nicest place, but the room was comfortable. Service for dinner and upon checkin was a bit hit and miss to be honest. We couldn't get water with dinner. Had to wait forever to order. But the morning staff was nice and breakfast was okay.

I have stayed at the Lion Wendlebury previously and have no complaint about it. Room is spacious and water pressure is good. Wonderful stay for visiting Bicester Village.

We stopped there for a shopping trip to Bicester, which is very close, though not within walking distance. Great hospitality, lovely pub, on-site parking. We ate there and the food was really nice and hot. The room was a deluxe one which was very spacious. Clean, warm with a lovely big, comfy bed. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. More expensive than a hotel chain, but so much more cozy and characterful.

Wonderfully presented rooms. Good quality classical features but modern. Amazing walk in shower. I liked the toiletries and that they were full size with a polite request to leave them or they would be chargeable. Plenty of water and tea/coffee provided. Bed was a bit soft for me and sofa bed for the kids was quite small but adequate. It was a particularly hot day and we were on the ground floor, the only 'window' in the room was a door, leading to a pathway at the back of the beer garden. It was on a safety latch but I was concerned leaving it open during the night, so it was rather warm. I did not ask for a fan but it would be useful to know if one is available if needed. We had an evening meal & breakfast there and enjoyed both. Easy access to Bicester Village and road links but far enough away in a lovely quiet village. No problem parking at the hotel during our visit. I would definitely stay here again & recommend it.

Really surprised by how nice this was. Gorgeous pub and really nice rooms in a separate building. Standard of food is so unbelievably high! Make sure you come here for dinner too

The Lion is an excellent place to stay - great food and really nice rooms. The rooms have a really good level of equipment with a coffee maker etc. The restaurant was very good, really nice food and good service. Breakfast was very good - but not great for business travellers, as it doesn't start until 8am. Bringing this forward to 7.30am would make all the difference (but maybe not to those going to Bicester Village!) I would also really recommend adding a couple of electric car chargers - it would be easy to do just inside the gate, and would make a huge difference - it is one of the things I look for in all hotels nowadays.

We were travelling through so needed good food and a comfortable bed. Food was alright, but my steak was tough I didn't finish it. Lovely staff, food needs a few tweaks. No fresh fruit or yoghurt at breakfast.

We only had a brief one night stay on our way to Devon but enjoyed every minute of it - we ate in the restaurant and both loved our meals , both the venison and the mushroom pie were excellent , the only downside was that was so comfortable and quiet in our room that we slept in and didn’t have time for breakfast. Next time for sure

Arrived at 21.05 and asked if food was being served and was told NO I asked if I could get a sandwich NO They were still in the kitchen and still serving deserts and coffees to tables A local resident asked them why they could not even make me a sandwich but they just said NO Louise the local went home and brought me back 2 x sandwiches and Crisps Thank heavens for 5 x really lovely local residents that are locals in the Red Lion

There was faeces in my toilet and hair in my bed. It seems the room was not cleaned before i checked in or maybe ever. Will 100% not recommend staying in this hotel. The most positive thing was the fact that i was only staying for 1 night.
