Gorgeous location, pristine air and tranquil location. Plentiful food for breakfast buffet, but coffee was awful and Vietnamese dishes lacked flavour, specifically the Pho, which should have a fragrant stock and moreishness. It was watery and tasteless. Pastry selection was very average and everything tasted pre bought and reheated. Lovely staff, and comfy rooms. Downsides: The cobblestones, which were all on steep slopes, were super slippery and many were dislodged making it dangerous to walk. Finally, the grounds were beautiful until you reach the petting zoo. Those poor goats were depressed and desperate for affection on their tiny concrete enclosure. With so much green space it would be humane to give them a grazing and frolicking area.

Very very bad experience. My booking was cancelled even though i have received confirmation from expedia and payment has been made. The staff claim that the cancellatiob is due to non payment and they are unwilling to contact expedia and we got to sort out the issues ourselves despite us showing evidence that payment has been made. We got to make a long distance call to expedia and like usual, they will put you on hold. After back and forth for almost 2 hours. The issue is rectified with the agent making payment at the very last min. The staff at the hotel recommended that we should book directly with the hotel in the future. Dont think i will ever come back here again

The property/ buildings are well kept in a lush environment. The rooms are large and nicely done. Breakfast was quite good. As it was off season and there were few guests they ran out of croissants early. This is the down side of this place. It lacks a generosity in hospitality. You pay for the Nespresso capsule in your room in the morning, you have 2 bottles of water at your disposition and if you need more you either walk to the reception for a refill or pay for a new bottle. It is a resort in nowhere land with little to do except relax. If I was the manager I would pamper my guests with a little treat here or there to make up for a lack of possible activities. This place works as a get away from busy Hanoi, I would not recommend it for European or American Vietnam travelers.

Staff were very friendly and the property is quite unique - nestled inside a national park. On the grounds there are ruins of old french vacation homes and other facilities from the 1930's, 40's and 50's which can be walked to and explored. Very unique experience and these particular sites are not available to those who are not guests at Melia. (There are some other historic sites on other parts of the mountain). It is a relaxing getaway as well!
