Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Brighton South - US 23 by IHG

The hotel was clean and well taken care of. The beds were nice. Complimentary breakfast had multiple options and was hot and ready. The pool and workout area were fully stocked with towels and water to drink.

Upon first look, property appears nice. The rooms are actually nice. But two problems: first, the pool was closed. Upon further conversation with staff, it’s been closed for “months.” This was annoying. We were there during a blizzard and would love to have killed time in the pool when we couldn’t go out. Paid the same price as if the pool was open, but didn’t get this amenity. Second, they don’t do turndown service each day. I understand, this seems to be how most hotels have gone. But upon walking out, I saw the housekeeping team, and later found out the GENERAL MANAGER outside my door. I asked them to please put conditioner in the shower when they were in there. He said no problem. When coming back, he had put the conditioner but did nothing more! No new towels, no sheets changed, nothing. When I went to the front desk to ask for more towels, the general manager AUSTIN came out from behind in his office and proceeded to ARGUE with me that it was “company policy” not to change rooms for extended stays unless asked. He said that they checked at 10:20 and that we had a DND sign on the door. We were still in the room. We left about 12:30. That’s when we saw them outside the door and specifically asked about the conditioner. And, while I think this is just a cheap way to save a buck, the fact that I asked him to go into my room, put the conditioner in there, the common sense thing would be to at least provide fresh towels. He continued to argue instead of apologizing.

The room was small for being a “suite” the microwave was small. The TV was in an odd place so you could not see it well from where the fold out couch was. The bathroom was not clean as there was something on the wall that should have been wiped down. The shower head they use has weird water settings and it was hard to wash off with. The vent in the bathroom didn’t work which made the room humid after a hot shower. When we got there there was horrible music playing and it was loud. It was still that way when getting back to our room so I waited till 11:00 pm to call and the front desk tells me it’s the Hotel’s speakers. I had to call two nights in a row about it. There was people fighting and running the halls. The rooms do not have much sound proofing as you could hear the people on the floor above walking around all the time. Only one elevator worked and you waited forever for it. This is right next to 23 so you hear all the traffic so beware of that. The one handle on the clothing cabinet was taped with painters tape because it was broke. We will not be back. Not a good experience.

Room was not ready had to wait 45 minutes to check in, door going out to patio was broken, slammed shut every time. NO ROOM SERVICE, had to chase down clean towels and toilet paper. Not worth the price we were charged.

The hotel was very clean and well staffed. The breakfast was very good. Lots of variety. The pool was clean and comfortable.

Nice, New and Very Clean would stay her again

Wonderful from start to finish. Spacious room with comfortable sofa and work station. Amazing lighting options with ample outlets,charging ports, and countertop surfaces. Walk in shower was bright with good water pressure. We made use of the Fitness Center and enjoyed a well-stocked breakfast in a clean and visibly staffed dining area.

Only one of the two elevators was functioning. The bed sheets had visible stains on them. The towels in the bathroom were yellowed and looked unclean. The bathtub would not drain properly and we had to take showers in standing dirty water. The rooms were cleaned only once in a 3-day stay. Three staff members entered our room unannounced with my wife in the room. The only positive point was Jill at the front desk when she was on her shift.

Area was very clean. The lobby was very large and was able to accommodate the guests.

Location was perfect for us. Overall felt clean and room was big. But dryer was broke our whole trip and everyone needed to do laundry and there was only one working. Also the pancake machine was broke all weekend, no plain bagels, no cinnamon rolls. The whole breakfast area was empty. Very frustrating

We were totally disappointed in the services. After staying at numerous Holiday Inns, this one does not compare. There were a few tissues when we arrived to stay 3 nights. We asked cleaning staff if we could have a box but they couldn’t take it from their cart; however, the front desk was able to spare one. We didn’t have any room care while we were there Aug.16-19. Waste baskets never emptied, soiled towels never exchanged for fresh ones or no beds made. The room actually had an oder and the carpet was filthy. Picture attached if possible. Seems there might have been animals in the room due to allergy reactions by both of us.

We had a wonderful stay. Our bed was comfortable and the room and lobby were very clean.

hadn't been vacuumed under the bedside tables, debris there. Sheets didn't fit bed well and kept coming off. Only 2 each towels, washcloths etc. Thermostat was difficult to figure out and we spent a couple hours being chilly before we gave up and called for help. The person at the desk did come up and fix it promptly, and as well, offered and gave us extra blankets. They were very helpful. The snacks and are super expensive, so be sure to stop and get supplies before you go there. No place is that close to the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Hotel is located close to the highway so the rooms on that side of the building are quite noisy. The shower curtain had mold all over it.The in room air conditioner unit was not working properly. It felt like it was just blowing humidity.

My bed had a hard dried substance on the fitted sheet. I took a picture of it and requested clean sheets. I was told they would bring me clean sheets but I would have to change them myself!!! The next morning went to take a shower and a used wash cloth was already there!! Room was not cleaned before our arrival. They wouldn’t refund any money due to 3rd party booking!

The staff was great and hotel itself was fine, but the place was pretty dirty. The room had obviously not been vacuumed, there was no soap in the bathroom, hairs in the bathroom and on the utensils at breakfast. We had planned to stay here on our way back through but ended up cancelling.

This was the cleanest hotel ive ever stayed in. Room was bright and modern.

I paid for a suite but had to take a regular room because housekeeping hadn't even started on my room at the time of check-in. Did not get the price of my room reduced. The room I was put in still had dirt and hair on the bathroom floor.

The bathroom was filthy and the blinds fell off the wall when trying to open them. The front desk clerk, Jill, was awesome and was able to refund us some money and gave us several membership points.

Road noise was pretty bad, and walls are thin. Bed was okay, things were clean but the room didn’t smell great.

The air unit didnt circulate properly so we were miserable warm all night no matter what setting you had it set on.

Unfortunately, the "handicapped" room we were given did not have grab bars near toilet or a high toilet. Only a single grab bar in rhe tub. Very high beds and I am not sure a wheelchair could have gotten beside the beds (2 queen beds). There were wide doorways. Staff told us they disnt have handicapped rooms with zero threshold showers.

Stay was ok. Room was on the expressway side so there was a lot of traffic noise.

I reserved an “accessible” room. The room was lovely but was NOT accessible. The toilet seat was quite low and lacked a grab bar on the adjacent wall. There was a grab bar in the tub but not positioned where needed. And the bed was so high that I had to call the desk and request a step stool so I could get on it.

Oriented along a very busy highway with nothing between your room and the noise on one long side. We did get to move rooms the second night so noise became a lower rumble. Thermostat did not ‘talk’ to the A/C. Bathroom floor and shower pan need some extra attention but not gross. Breakfast was subpar for a Holiday Inn Express; with gluey oatmeal, green bananas and limited selection. Wi-Fi was not always connecting as the password protected system was not working but the open system was on and off available - or so it seemed. (Had to use my hotspot mostly).

Stay was great. Stayed for middle school Basketball championship tournaments… I wish the air conditioning worked in my room because my room was 77* the entire stay and it was way to hot to sleep (it is march yes but that room was wicked hot!!)

I rented rooms for 3 nights here for my out of town son and his family when they came into town while his father was very ill and undergoing cancer treatment at the U of M. Apparently there was a hockey tournament over the weekend and the rooms were mostly booked with families staying for that. While the hotel was beautiful the children, about 10 yrs old, ran the hotel for the entire time. They were loud, did a version of ding, dong, ditch by knocking on doors late and running. They were in the pool unsupervised, running up and down the stairwells and floors leavng trash in their trails. Meanwhile their parents sat in the lobby drinking. Granted this was outside of the 11 pm. quiet hours, but some people are trying to rest, if not sleep, before 11 pm esp when traveling. My daughter in law did complain to the front desk about the knocking and running and it did seem to quiet down that night after. But this was mainly the norm for 3 nights. Apparently the kids even managed to break the elevator. My family was on the 4th floor and had to carry all their suitcases when they were checking out. I will say to staff credit they gave my son a $10 a night credit and some rewards to our IHG account, but restful sleep would have been much more appreciated after days of travel and long days at the hospital.

Excellent staff. They allowed us to checkout late as it was Christmas. Loved the ambiance and the cleanliness of the hotel.

Staff was rude. The key pad for the room was out of battery and the key did not work and I had to go to the front desk at 1 am 3 times and he finally gave me another room. Room was not cleaned. This was the worst Holiday inn experience.

The daytime hotel staff and property were great but the night staff allowed a travelling boys hockey team to run up and down the hallways making noise and hitting things and setting off alarms specifically a smoke alarm around 1130 pmuntil well after midnight for several hours and did nothing about it for a long time. Worst stay I've ever had at a holiday inn.

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and had a wonderful experience. After driving for over 8 hours, we were so grateful to be able to check in 1.5 hours early. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, even making sure our room was adjacent to our friends, which made things so much easier, especially with an event that evening. The room was very clean and comfortable, and overall, the hotel provided everything we needed for a smooth and enjoyable stay. Very happy with the service and would absolutely stay here again!

Facility was very nice and in a great location to quick access Brighton or Ann Arbor. There was never a noise issue with the location off the freeway. We were surprised that the hotel used plastic cutlery and styrofoam plates for the included breakfast.

Very easy on and off the highway. Lots of dining options nearby.

Our stay here was pleasant. Staff was nice. Laundry room (you do have to pay) was convenient. The highway noise is VERY loud. The first night I did not not sleep well. I discovered that the front desk had earplugs. That solved the problem. I think it would be best if the earplugs were provided in the room to begin with. The noise issue isn't temporary.

Easy on and off freeway. Clean and quiet. Very close to restaurants and shopping.

I have traveled a lot with 3 kids in travel sports. I’m not sure why I waited to long to stay at this hotel when playing at the Legacy Center. The rooms were clean and smelled good. The beds were comfortable. The soaps in the bathroom and shower were Dove and great quality! The breakfast was free, hot and full of options! There was staff continuously cleaning and making sure items were restocked. The staff was fantastic at checkin and checkout. Plus, it was a bonus to have an Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse and Culver’s right next to the hotel! Highly recommend. We will be back!

Food was not hot. Muffins were stale

The lobby is fresh and well maintained. I was greeted promptly upon arrival and was checked in efficiently. But our room was dingy. The linens were either off-white or dingy or all the lighting makes it appear so. There were cracks in the ceiling, and the shower fixtures are ancient. And there were weird knocking sounds around the room throughout the night. Breakfast was an exercise in frustration. We arrived for breakfast just after 8 am, and there was very little hot food left. Like 1 omelette, a few sausages, potatoes, and a few cinnamon rolls. The one employee had no clue how to heat more food, and another came to help but was walking around with no shoes on. Overall, this was not our best experience with the Holiday Inn Express chain.

I love this property but the complimentary breakfast has gone down hill. Over done food, stale muffins, over ripe bananas and coffee is more than bold! I love a dark roast but they have over done it of late. They are not always aware of running out of coffee.
