We really enjoyed our week-long stay in this charming motel. The owner is very responsive to needs and the room was great. Nicely decorated, very convenient, lots of parking, near to many attractions in the area. The bed was comfortable, the room is air conditioned and very nice.

We got to our room before 9pm but the receptionist was already gone for the day and the office was closed. While we left the door to our room open for the few minutes it took us to bring in our luggage, a million mosquitos got into our room and bit us all night. The microwave in our room didn't work, and when we called the phone number that was provided to us (on a piece of paper taped to the door of the reception office), no one picked up or every called us back. We did not find an ice machine on the property either. It was a small bed and a small room overall, not close by to anything really. It's fine in a pinch, but just know that you'll be left on your own. The reception office was still not open the next morning, and we left after 8am. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the reception office to be open by that hour.

The parking was cramped at the room where we were but we have a pickup truck so that's the issue there. The hosts were very congenial and knowledgeable. Recommended several options for breakfast. Close to the park on the lake where we go to watch for freighters and eat our supper.

Owner was so personable and helpful. Reservation went thru Hotels.com and did specify that she needed to know about our arrival, but she came through. Room was very clean and cozy. Perfect stop before the Bridge.

My immediate response as I walked into the room was "cute"! Pillow shams on queen-sized pillows, decorative pictures that were obviously chosen with care, and a macrame mirror in the bathroom. Those are what come to mind immediately. Very clean. A real bargain for being the least expensive hotel in Cheboygan! We'll come back!

I'm so excited we chose to stay here. Not only was the price point solid, but the quality of our stay was wonderful and left us well rested. The bed was super comfortable, showers were hot with great water pressure, it was quiet early in the night even with it on a main road, clean and well cared for, and the location was perfect for getting around. We even ran late and the front desk had a plan in case we missed them to check in. Will absolutely stay again.

Nice, clean room. Overall we were very happy with it. Pros: Price, A/C, Fridge, clean, quiet, nice location, bed was pretty comfortable, nicely decorated, easy check in and out. Cons: toilet was small, shower in the room we had could use an update but it was very clean, I wish the wifi password was posted in the room.

Mattress quality should be better (or replaced more often because of saggyness). It might be helpful if owners spent a night in the room to see the space limitations. Very clean though.

This is absolutely the most adorable place to stay.. The lady who owns it so nice. There was a mix up with our room when we booked it on line and she immediately came back and got us a bigger room. Such a lovely lady. Andrew very knowledgeable about the area.

The owner was super helpful with our late check-in. It is close to town and very reasonably priced! Cable TV in the room, with a small bathroom/shower. A/c in the room and a comfortable bed!

Great Stay with kids - walk to the park, eat next door at iconic Yecks drive in, short drive into town and the state park for swimming. Kids really enjoyed their stay. Also only a short drive to Mackinac City, the Michilimackinac Fort and St. Ignace across the mighty Mac. Bridge.

The owner/mgr Linda is absolutely AMAZING!!! My wife, our son, and I am so greatful for the peacefulness, safety, cleanliness and her undying care and concern for her clients. Linda is wonderful. The place is great. Family friendly. Near the beach. Near a wonderful restaurant. I highly recommended staying at this motel. And i suggest booking directly thru the Monach vs booking thru a 3rd party. It will be cheaper and Linda will work with Vets. Thankyou so much, Linda. We will def be returning!!!

Really enjoyed the seamless self check-in/out. Room was nice and clean, bathrooms were clean, area seemed decent. Pretty close to downtown area so a very short drive/walk away from all sorts of shopping and dining. Would stay again!

The Monarch was just what I was looking for. The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, the location was a close drive to downtown Cheboygan and the waterfront, and the AC kept me cool in the middle of a heat wave. Especially appreciated was Linda's kind customer service. I will plan to book the Monarch again on my next Cheboygan visit.

The owner or manager Linda was very responsive. Unfortunately the Dish system didn’t work when we really wanted to watch tv, and several other guests had the same experience. Room was clean and bed was comfortable, but lighting was very dim in main sleeping area, road was close and noisy and from a couple of other rooms we happened to see into, ours was probably the least updated. For the price, it met our needs for sleeping and we found the greatest little farmers market in town on Saturday. Bring a sound machine to use at night.

Very convenient and hassle-free stay. The check-in process was extremely easy and required no interaction, which made everything very convenient. The room was clean and comfortable. We also had an early departure the next morning and were able to leave before the staff had even arrived, which made the whole experience seamless. Overall, a great option if you’re looking for a clean, convenient, and hassle-free place to stay in Cheboygan.

Very convenient and hassle-free stay. The check-in process was extremely easy and required no interaction, which made everything very convenient. The room was clean and comfortable. We also had an early departure the next morning and were able to leave before the staff had even arrived, which made the whole experience seamless. Overall, a great option if you’re looking for a clean, convenient, and hassle-free place to stay in Cheboygan.

Do yourself a favor and get off the interstate and out of the chain hotels and stay at the Monarch (and places like it). Staff was super friendly and it had all the amenities you’ll need for a good nights rest.
