Very nice and good association with a famous composer. Staff well intended but they put us in twin rooms and coukdbt fix the problem…also don’t expect a drink till 4pm as the bar is closed before then. Air conditioning is non existent - don’t buy the “we have natural climate control” answer….

Fra mottakelse - med valet parkering som et tilleggsalternativ - til ala carte frokost om morgenen, er dette et snev av internasjonal luksus i Bergen by. Gode senger, og vi opplevde å komme tilbake til ryddet rom som var klargjort for kvelden etter å ha vært ute og spist middag. 10 av 10 på opplevelse, og vi kommer gjerne tilbake igjen.

An absolute gem of a hotel. An old bank turned into a luxury hotel. Grand and opulent without being stuffy. All of the staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Delicious breakfast served under chandeliers to the sound of a piano player is the loveliest way to start the day. In the middle of beautiful Bergen right near the fish market. Rooms were spotless and beds squashy and comfortable. Honestly couldn’t fault our stay here. Had the loveliest time, highly recommended.

The hotel itself is ok. NO PARKING! If you drive, the offsite parking is 11 minutes away walk. I did not like the staff at the beginning, but it really depends. The staff later helped me was nice.

Wonderful, old bank bldg. perfectly fitted to be a classic hotel. Very helpful staff. Many suggestions when asked. Lobby bartender is always ready to set you up with a great evening drink. Twice a day attention to your room. Close to everything you want to see in Bergen. Close walking to many of the city's various evening restaurants.

There was an issue at check-in; I asked for a quiet room and was told mine was above the bar, which might be noisy. But they were reluctant to move me because it would require a downgrade which they couldn\'t do (for some system-related reason). I had to stress that size of room was not important compared with noise level and I had to go as far as threatening to just leave and go to a different hotel. (I hate to behave like that but I was afraid of being stuck in a noisy room). Finally when someone else interceded I got my "downgrade" to a quieter room, not above the bar. Also of note - the restaurant may be appealing to some but it is a very limited menu!!!

Breakfast seating area was lovely and food was very good, room was clean and turn down service with free water was a very nice touch, staff were helpful and friendly. Hotel is located by the harbour and only a short walk to shops, restaurants and transport. Would definitely stay here again.

De kamer was perfect en zeer netjes. De ligging van het hotel is eveneens super! 5min naar tram, 10min naar station, 3 min naar Bryggen.

From start to finish this hotel is flawless. We were greeted at 1am by the concierge with a big smile and a friendly welcome. Our room was beautiful, clean and felt luxurious. The bed was very comfortable and we had Nespresso pods which were refilled every day. Lots of lovely touches within the room such as the Molton Brown products and a turn down service in the evening. The breakfast was superb every morning and the service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the pianist playing Christmas songs in the morning. Perfect location for getting around Bergen but nice and quiet in the evening for a restful stay. We would happily stay again, thank you to Opus and all of their staff.

Excellent location and a really nice hotel. Rooms and bathrooms were very nice. High ceilings gave it a nice charm. Excellent breakfast. Walkable area. The only gripe was that the hotel is directly in town so a bit noisy .

Lovely hotel and our room was very nice. Very spacious and well appointed with a very nice bathroom with a wonderful, modern shower (a must have for us). The bed was quite comfortable, more so than we typically get. And it’s right in the heart of Bergen so easy to get around. We generally like to try different hotels when we return to a city but in this case we will come back to the Opus 16!

The bed was quite comfortable, more so than we typically get. And it’s right in the heart of Bergen so easy to get around. Lovely hotel, very comfortable, rooms are wonderfully furnished, modern heated bathroom with good strong hot water. Friendly and helpful staff. I had booked a deluxe with city view twin room but there weren’t’ any more twin rooms, and we downgraded to a deluxe room without views. The room was a bit dark because it looked into an internal courtyard but was otherwise extremely comfortable. Staff were apologetic and tried their best to find us alternatives, but in the end, we found the room more than acceptable, breakfast was wonderful with a good selection abd a nice a la carte menu, I can strongly recommend this hotel, and will want to be back if I am ever in Bergen again.

We had a perfect stay, we had a superior room which had a little sofa as well as the bed which made it really comfortable for two people hiding from the rain in Bergen! The bathroom was particularly lovely with underfloor heating...the breakfast buffet was amazing with nice additional hot plates to order. The staff were great and we loved being bang in the centre of Bergen.

Top class hotel. The piano player each morning at breakfast was superb and created a wonderful ambience for a world class breakfast. Hotel room was a bit small but is well finished / furnished. Excellent staff service.

Lovely classy hotel in an excellent area. Everything was walkable, and breakfast was amazing. A la carte and buffet options available. The room was elegant and cosy. It was my Wife's 50th birthday just before we stayed, and the hotel put out some fudge and hand wrote a birthday message that I prepared, on a lovely post card, which my Wife has kept as a keepsake. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you Opus XVI for a wonderful stay.

Great staff. Went out of their way, every time whether it was getting our car at 5:30 AM or booking excursions. Everyone went above and beyond. Location is unbeatable. So close to everything. The rooms are meticulous as well.

Worst experience at an SLH property. After traveling all day arrived about 6:00pm and was told by reception that we could not be served anything at the restaurant. Too late for tea and dinner was fully booked. Neither their website, nor booking confirmation emails suggested dinner reservations. I asked if it was possible to get anything to eat at the bar and was told no, just chips or peanuts. While eating chips for dinner, three locals came in and were served a three-course meal at the bar. I complained to the bartender, reception and management. They still refused to serve us anything. Our small room overlooked a very noisy a side street with voices waking us up throughout the night. There was nothing luxury about it except the huge bathroom, which was very cold with no underfloor heating. Not worth the price.

What a lovely stay at Opus XVI!! The staff were beyond accommodating. One morning, I wasn't feeling well, and they sent breakfast and a pot of coffee to me in our room. When we left very early for the train station, they sent a boxed breakfast with us. Brekfast was included in our stay, and there were a myriad of options. Our room had a view of the water and was very quiet. The beds and linens very comfortable. We definitely would stay here again. The staff was so pleasant and helpful.

We stayed at The Eilert Smith Hotel in Stavanger and Opus in Bergen, and although both are owned by the same group, what a world of difference in customer experience. Eilert Smith staff went out of their way to do anything they could for us. Opus was like any big hotel, made the reservations if you asked, but did not respond to any texts or messages, even though they said they were available 24/7. Staff esp one lady just seemed like she couldn’t handle even reservations efficiently or understand. Seemed to be scrambling and unsure. Anyway, just an ordinary experience. Not great or extraordinary like The Eilert Smith Hotel in Stavanger. Also breakfast at Opus was okay, not great. Quality of food just okay.

Wonderful, old bank bldg. perfectly fitted to be a classic hotel. Very helpful staff. Many suggestions when asked. Lobby bartender is always ready to set you up with a great evening drink. Twice a day attention to your room. Close to everything you want to see in Bergen. Close walking to many of the city's various evening restaurants.

Fantastisk god service. Feiret samboers 40-års dag, fikk oppgradert rom med utsikt til Fløien, hilsen på rommet og champagne på døren 5 min etter ankomst :) Frokosten var også veldig god!

This hotel is in a very good location, a short walk from the tram stop for the airport. It is a beautiful old building in a quiet location. The breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend.

De kamer was perfect en zeer netjes. De ligging van het hotel is eveneens super! 5min naar tram, 10min naar station, 3 min naar Bryggen.

Wonderful hotel. Easy to walk to whatever we wanted to see in Bergen. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and having a drink at the bar. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.

The hotel on a weekend was incredibly noisy with drunk people outside until 2 am. The robes need to be replaced and the breakfast buffet was cold. It was best to order off of the ala carte menu. Location was great!

Lovely classy hotel in an excellent area. Everything was walkable, and breakfast was amazing. A la carte and buffet options available. The room was elegant and cosy. It was my Wife's 50th birthday just before we stayed, and the hotel put out some fudge and hand wrote a birthday message that I prepared, on a lovely post card, which my Wife has kept as a keepsake. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you Opus XVI for a wonderful stay.

Opus XVI in Bergen was truly unforgettable. The suite was absolutely magical elegant, warm, and full of character. The people working there are genuinely welcoming, proactive, and incredibly professional. You feel taken care of from the very first moment. Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional beautifully presented and full of flavor. A special place with special people. Last but not least, the amazing breakfast that was made for us.

There was an issue at check-in; I asked for a quiet room and was told mine was above the bar, which might be noisy. But they were reluctant to move me because it would require a downgrade which they couldn\'t do (for some system-related reason). I had to stress that size of room was not important compared with noise level and I had to go as far as threatening to just leave and go to a different hotel. (I hate to behave like that but I was afraid of being stuck in a noisy room). Finally when someone else interceded I got my "downgrade" to a quieter room, not above the bar. Also of note - the restaurant may be appealing to some but it is a very limited menu!!!

This hotel is an example of the hospitality excellence. From coming to reception and the lady receptionist and young man in the evening every one was extremely helpful. Breakfast greeter and servers were very courteous and helpful. Room appointed to take care of almost all of our needs. I wish we could stay longer.

We enjoyed our stay at Opus XVI. The staff was very helpful. They booked us a restaurant reservation and held our luggage. It was extremely clean. The breakfast was quite good and had many choices. They set out umbrellas when rained. The location can’t be beat. It’s two minutes from the fish market, a grocery store is next door, and we could walk to other restaurants and even the train station within minutes.

No air conditioning. Our room over looked the "square" and people stayed out there until all hours of the early morning. Some were quite loud. Not having air conditioning and not being able to open the windows due to the noise, it got quite warm in the room. The staff was fantastic and the hotel was clean and beautiful. But the lack of A/C, combined with not being able to open the windows due to the noise (not the hotel's fault) made the stay "OK".
