Das Old Dairy Cottage @ Ainstable

Excellent little cottage to base our Lake District holiday from. Very friendly owners, cottage has everything you need in it for 2 people. Lots of local walks. Sunday dinner in the Heather Glen hotel, which is walking distance, was very good. Local pub, the Fox & Pheasant, is 1.2 miles away in Armathwaite, nice food and friendly staff, however I do not recommend walking there on the road, which has no footpath, as the local tractors move very fast and consider the entire road their domain! Easy access to the Settle-Carlisle railway via Armathwaite station. There is free parking in the station and many places in the village to park if it happened to be full.

We loved the cottage, the location and the fact the local amenities weren't far away. The family who run the cottage were great, very friendly and always on hand yo help. We will be going back later this year.

A cosy, well equipped cottage situated in a quiet, peaceful village. It has everything you could want for a relaxing stay ‘away from it all’. Highly recommended!

A lovely cottage with very friendly and helpful hosts. The weather was very kind and we were able to take advantage of the garden and local walks. The local shop was well stocked.

Lovely homely cottage, very clean with everything you need for a break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life it was a bonus to have the conservatory to relax in and watch the birds, cows and sheep. The dog enjoyed sitting and looking out too 😊 Very friendly hosts who gave us lots of information about the local area, and left a lovely welcome pack.Would definitely recommend and we will be back 🧑‍🤝‍🧑🐾
