**Key point is only a pillow and pillowcase are provided** I stayed for one night in the Bunkhouse. Look it is what it is. A cheap place to lay your head. Luckily I saw the reviews and brought a sleeping bag and towel. The place was sweltering when I arrived as it had been a really warm week. No windows were open due to midgies and firm instruction not to have windows or doors open for this reason (although staff could have had them open during the day for ventilation I think). Everything was superficially clean but there was staining on doors, surfaces and floors. It was fine but just takes an entail of breath to say 'its fine'. The walls are paper thin and the floor is sprung as i think the structure itself is more like a large portacabin type structure. There was a neanderthal in the room next to me and I could hear every fart, burp, crisp crunch and snore he made. Every step taken also reverberated through the whole floor. The positives: the price of course. But also the beautiful lodge next to the bunkhouse (the bunkhouse is part of the same property which is not quite clear). I got scrubbed up and went in there for my dinner, a coffee and some drinks. Divine. Staff were super and the dining room/drawing room areas are a real treat. It was lovely to have access there just to sit and enjoy the summer evening with a beautiful breeze coming in the grand windows.

I was doing the NC500 as a solo traveller and stayed here as the last stop. The rooms themselves were clean, but keep in mind that there are no towels or quilt in the room. As someone who was travelling light, this meant using my t shirt as a makeshift quilt. I would’ve actually got some sleep with this setup, if it wasn’t for another guest snoring next door through the night. Of course, this isn’t the bunkhouse’s fault, but just note that the walls are very thin, and earplugs do help a bit but still won’t keep all the noise out. I was pleased to have the kitchen, and as I said the room was clean, but I stayed at 5 places on my trip and this was comfortably the worst value for money.

Out in the countryside near to the mountains. A great place to stay.

Hiket/Walker place. Should just offer bedding at booking? Who carries bath towel? Unusual spot, unspoken service, solitude.
