I booked the Pickled Parson for an overnight stay. The hotel and Sedgefield were both lovely. The staff were excellent, welcoming and explained all we needed to know at check-in, which included completing a breakfast form and time for breakfast. This wasn't needed immediately, but sometime before the end of the evening. The bar area was busy, but had enough tables and chairs, there was also a small seating area outside overlooking the village green and in the shadow of the village church, a great spot for a quick drink. We ate in the bar, but there is also a restaurant which is where breakfast is served. The evening meal was fantastic and I thought a reasonable price. The bedroom with ensuite shower was adequately sized, it included a very comfy bed and pillows, tea and coffee making facilities, a radio, and a couple of bedside tables. The only downside was the tv had a poor reception, however, we didn't go there to watch tv. The room overlooked the village green and we were opposite the church. A really lovely spot. If youre a light sleeper the church clock strikes every 15 minutes, but it didn't affect me, and there are some earplugs supplied in the room, a great idea!! The shower wasn't the biggest, but it was big enough, the shower wasn't the most powerful, maybe just the water pressure in an old building. However, it did the job absolutely fine. Breakfast was fantastic, a real treat. Overall, a lovely place and hopefully a return trip will be planned.

A very lovely pub with large, very well equipped rooms in the heart of Sedgefield town. Although no food is available on Monday and Tuesdays in the pub… and there is a very good menu…there are good alternatives within a short walk. The experience was only flawed by the total absence of serviceable wifi in my room. Very good reception almost to the door … then nothing. This could be a good thing sometimes, but not if you have work to do! A £30 range extender would cure the matter. A minor matter, disproportionately frustrating. Would happily stay again… but maybe with working WIfi

The WiFi is non existent that made it extremely difficult to carry out work on my laptop in the evenings… the hotel don’t offer food on a Monday and Tuesday night that was disappointing and if I known that I wouldn’t have booked it. I complained about my shower as the water pressure and temperature was very poor. I was in the superior room number 1 and the music and noise from the bar was rather annoying and it the music and bar was open past 11pm every night. Over all I doubt I would stay at the location again. For the price paid I had a lot higher expectations!!

A really nice pub, restaurant and hotel. An excellent location in the middle of the village. Our room was a really nice size, well maintained, clean, comfortable and with excellent facilities. The food and service was of a very high standard with friendly and professional staff.

The hotel was excellent the room we stayed in was decorated well clean and well looked after. You had plenty of choice with drinks in the room decaf or normal tea and coffee as well as hot chocolate and specialist teas. The bed was very comfy. The staff were polite and friendly. The food served in the pub was excellent. We had to be full English breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was very comfortable, the room had everything you need for a long and was very clean however the bathroom was small and the shower water was very hot and couldn't be cooled down. Due to attending the 80s concert we couldn't check in until after the 11 o'clock deadline however the staff where happy to wait for us, Thank You. Breakfast was delicious and relaxing as its pre-booked and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a great place within Sedgefield.

The room was clean, pleasant and ready on time. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and decently sized. We stayed in Room 1. The room is painted in dark colours which were modern and nice but with the lighting I couldn’t see anything up close in the mirrors. It was dark for applying any make-up.

Lovely location in centre of the village but only has street parking. My room was very small for a double, too small really for 2 people but ideal for 1. Bedroom noisy as only single glazing.

Friendly staff, lovely food. Unfortunately tv didnt have great reception, isnt good when on road all week and have nothing to do except drink in bar !

Not good value for money. Tries to be a boutique hotel but falls short. Having read earlier reviews we asked for a quiet room - ignored. We were in room 1. Directly above bar with loud voices and boom boom boom music. Room large but dark. Paint peeling from walls where plaster blown due to damp. Shower temperature regulator broken so you can have very hot or very hot. Bed too soft, uneven foam mattress. Lock broken on loo cubicle downstairs so try not to get locked in. Breakfast cooked to order and tasty, the lady serving it was very warm and welcoming. Can’t give this a higher rating as the following night we stayed in the luxurious Oulton Hall in Leeds for just €10 more - a world of difference. Pity. Sedgefield is a lovely village and the hotel location is very pretty. Just didn’t live up to expectations.

The staff were excellent, welcoming and explained all we needed to know at check-in, which included completing a breakfast form and time for breakfast. The bar area was busy, but had enough tables and chairs, there was also a small seating area outside overlooking the village green and in the shadow of the village church, a great spot for a quick drink. We ate in the bar, but there is also a restaurant which is where breakfast is served. The evening meal was fantastic and I thought a reasonable price. The bedroom with ensuite shower was adequately sized, it included a very comfy bed and pillows, tea and coffee making facilities, a radio, and a couple of bedside tables. The only downside was the tv had a poor reception, however, we didn't go there to watch tv. The room overlooked the village green and we were opposite the church. A really lovely spot. If youre a light sleeper the church clock strikes every 15 minutes, but it didn't affect me, and there are some earplugs supplied in the room, a great idea!! The shower wasn't the biggest, but it was big enough, the shower wasn't the most powerful, maybe just the water pressure in an old building. However, it did the job absolutely fine. Breakfast was fantastic, a real treat. Overall, a lovely place and hopefully a return trip will be planned.

Our stay was very comfortable, the room had everything you need for a long and was very clean however the bathroom was small and the shower water was very hot and couldn't be cooled down. Due to attending the 80s concert we couldn't check in until after the 11 o'clock deadline however the staff where happy to wait for us, Thank You. Breakfast was delicious and relaxing as its pre-booked and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a great place within Sedgefield.

A really nice pub, restaurant and hotel. An excellent location in the middle of the village. Our room was a really nice size, well maintained, clean, comfortable and with excellent facilities. The food and service was of a very high standard with friendly and professional staff.

Having attended the popular, local festival Hardwick Live, we walked back to be greeted by a member of staff stood in the doorway to the bar telling us it was closed and we had to go straight to our room. This is despite others being in the bar, and being able to see people stood at the bar ordering (we were hoping to order hot chocolates - very rock and roll!). She then told us to take off our shoes before we went any further into the building (our shoes were wet, but perfectly clean). Not the most welcoming! I don’t they want people going to the festival staying at their establishment.

People there were just so friendly. The food was good, and the breakfasts simply stonking. Beautifully located opposite the church, and it was a delight to hear the bells being rung on the Sunday morning. I would have liked to have brought my dogs - and they are allowed in the bar - but not in the bedrooms, so i made other arrangements. The advertising needs to make this clearer. Do the bedroom windows open? I didnt quite have the strength to do it.

Stunning location , easily accessible from the m1. Striking building with quirky coves and corridors. Staff are exceptionally friendly and polite food delicious , lovely bar area. Rooms are lovely and cosy and again some really quirky additions with the old fashioned phone. Nice touch. Highly recommend to everyone . We will certainly return.

Absolutely loved this accomodation. Beautiful refurbishment, the room was stunning with modern industrial style. I got the church view room and it was stunning honestly. Breakfast was included, you choose your order and time when checking in. It was delicious, honestly the best scrambled eggs I've ever had! Amazing value for the price, perfect location.

The WiFi is non existent that made it extremely difficult to carry out work on my laptop in the evenings… the hotel don’t offer food on a Monday and Tuesday night that was disappointing and if I known that I wouldn’t have booked it. I complained about my shower as the water pressure and temperature was very poor. I was in the superior room number 1 and the music and noise from the bar was rather annoying and it the music and bar was open past 11pm every night. Over all I doubt I would stay at the location again. For the price paid I had a lot higher expectations!!

Tiniest hotel room - not suitable for two adults. We arrived during the heat wave and they even did not leave the window open so when we checked-in, the room was boiling. I wont recommend. Good breakfast though

We used the Pickled Parson as a home base for a month while visiting family. The room we had for that duration of a stay was a little small, but it was comfortable, clean and made up daily. The staff were all amazing and really made us feel at home. A very relaxed atmosphere with great breakfast options. The bar was a great option to wind down at the end of the day with a night cap. Situated on the village green, it is a perfect place to sit out in the warmer weather with great tea shops and restaurants close by. Would definitely stay again in the future.
