Il Borghetto Resort & Spa

Its a mystery that this is a 5 star Hotel. It’s a resort&spa - without a spa.. The 5 star criteria say that it should have a restaurant and a bar. They have a collaboration with a restaurant in town. No free shuttle. You get a free glass of prosecco but you are a regular guest at a restaurant in town. If you want to eat home you have to go over the main road to a pizzeria in another 3 star Hotel. No bar, just a pool bar that closes at 19.30. A bottle of wine on your own terrace is strictly forbidden. Because you can just drink what’s in the minibar with no wine. No lounge area. No room service. No ironing service. No play area, tennis, paddle etc Very limited shuttle service. Lovely breakfast and a hardworking poolbar operator. All by himself by the pool… In my opinion it’s a high end Bed & Breakfast.

This is a lovely property. Our air conditioner did not work and they moved us to an upgraded room for the last 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Our room was clean and the view was beautiful of the sea, though further away than we thought. A few cons. There is no beach access here at all.Some of the descriptions are misleading. You cannot walk into town or to the beach on the very busy roads, it’s a long walk and dangerous. We were able to Uber back and forth without any issues. There is no spa but the pool is beautiful. The service at the pool is understaffed. Were were there in mid May off season. We were told they were open from 11-7 but when we asked for service for coffee at 12:15p we were told they didn’t open until 12:30 and no one came until 12:45p. One night we didn’t feel well and wanted to order in but no one could help us with that. We We found an app and ordered only for it to be cancelled after 25 minutes. There is no one at the reception desk available after 9 pm. I would hope in the future to see a little more available in the reception area like snacks and coffee. A shuttle to and from town/beach would also be appreciated. There is a lot of potential for this property and Tropea is stunning and still untouched by Americans (which we are) and annoying crowds so go now if you can.

This property is a 30-minute walk or an 8-minute drive from the main town area, making it convenient for visiting or dining out. It’s a gated property with ample car parking, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. The rooms are adequate but sparsely decorated, with painted floors and no tiles on the bathroom walls. The furnishings are similar to IKEA. The TV is small, and the Wi-Fi bandwidth is excellent, allowing for easy streaming and FaceTime. However, the walls between units don’t provide much sound insulation, which is unacceptable, we could easily hear our neighbour snoring and other unwanted noises. The breakfast is homemade and delicious, prepared by the ladies on site.

Beautiful property and amenities

La struttura dell’hotel è molto bella, con un bellissimo giardino e la colazione è molto buona. La disposizione delle camere però è completamente da rivedere (ad es. per entrare in bagno bisogna passare dalla doccia). La reception non è disponibile prima delle 8 e dopo le 22. Decisamente troppo caro per quello che offre.
