We were welcomed by the owner very politely and made us feel instantly at home. The room was very nicely set up and had access to a TV, our own sink, a fan due to warm weather, a lovely little tea station with complementary tea and coffee; everything was very clean and nicely displayed. The bathroom was lovely and clean also with plenty of hand soap and toilet rolls supplied. This place is walking distance from Margate beach and all the surrounding hotspots. We also had the option for breakfast and the communal dining area was lovely and also well kept. Would highly recommend this place, very good value for money.

I recently stayed at Shenandoah House while visiting family nearby, and chose it because it was pet-friendly and had such excellent reviews. I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, we received a genuinely warm welcome from Jim, who immediately made friends with our dog. The room was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully set up. The cooked English breakfast was honestly one of the best I’ve had, and the breakfast room itself was a great bonus, with a fridge and microwave available for guests to use. There’s also a lovely garden, which Jim is happy to allow dogs into. Parking was on street with no restrictions, and the area itself was very quiet. The location is ideal, the beach is just a short walk away, the station is nearby and it’s an easy, pleasant 15 minute walk into the main centre. Overall, it truly felt like a home‑from‑home experience and offered great value for money. I’ll definitely be booking here again.

The owner confirmed question before we arrived and was there to show us the room, letting us know breakfast time and aquantus us with the keys. The room was clean and warm with a separate toilet and shower that worked well. The breakfast was great with a choice of cereal, lots of high quality full english breakfast items and toast with jams. Lots of drink options too with fresh orange juice. Jim the owner has made a special place to stay, even allowing guests to use the dining area outside of breakfast time with a microwave available to use. There are information leaflets for the area too, with the main town just being a short walk away. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thanks Jim

Had difficulties in contacting host, as email sent a couple of days before our visit and a telephone call on the norming which went straight to answer phone. No contact made by host before we attended. Room clean and tidy. No parking on front as although 3 parking bays 2 cars parked badly so has to park on the street

We were a party of 3 we checked into the hotel, and had a conversation with Jim the owner about where we were going in the evening and about what other night life was in the area. The rooms and facilities were great we were close to the local shops and central Margate was in close walking distance. The beds were comfortable so we had a great night sleep and we had a fantastic full English Breakfast In the morning. It is a fantastic Guest House and we would definitely come back again and recommend the hotel to others.

We received the warmest of welcomes from Jim, the proprietor. He was so lovely, funny and kind. Although the Shenandoah is a period house, it is right up to date, the decor and furniture looked new. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent, there was probably something to suit everyone. I’m a bit of a Nespresso addict and usually take a machine with me when I travel, I didn’t this trip but was delighted when I found a Nespresso machine in the breakfast room. The Shenandoah has rooms to suit most. It even has glamping pods if you fancy something a bit different. There is off street parking. Thanks, Jim, it’s obvious that you’d go the extra mile for your guests!

Very friendly staff , Laura and Jim made us feel very welcome. Room very clean and comfortable and has all you would need for a short break. The area is really nice , it’s in a busy road but did not bother us . Very conveniently located to Margate main sands - will definitely staff again.

DIY noise into the evening. Tiny room with a giant sofa in it which is unnecessary. Shower was faulty - ran hot for 10 seconds then cold for 30 seconds, repeatedly. Banging sounds until the early hours of the morning, hence only 2 hours sleep so tired for an important meeting. The above caused me to leave a day early - no refund, of course!

Inn-keeper Jim was a fantastic host. Friendly and helpful with the kids. The room was exactly as described. It could have done with darker curtains (as in to keep out the morning light). The shower was grand, took a moment to get it to work as expected but we got there.

We received the warmest of welcomes from Jim, the proprietor. He was so lovely, funny and kind. Although the Shenandoah is a period house, it is right up to date, the decor and furniture looked new. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent, there was probably something to suit everyone. I’m a bit of a Nespresso addict and usually take a machine with me when I travel, I didn’t this trip but was delighted when I found a Nespresso machine in the breakfast room. The Shenandoah has rooms to suit most. It even has glamping pods if you fancy something a bit different. There is off street parking. Thanks, Jim, it’s obvious that you’d go the extra mile for your guests!

Couldn't have asked for more for a short stay in Margate. 2 mins walk to the beach and very close to the centre and main amenities. Very dog friendly which is a plus, but still exceptionally clean. Room facilities excellent - lots of towels, very comfy bed, toiletries and plenty of tea & coffee. Jim is an exceptional host; the best we have ever had; cannot do too much for you. Great welcome and chat about what there is to see and do in the local and surrounding areas, buses etc. Jim, you are fab! and we hope the business continues to thrive.

Very friendly staff , Laura and Jim made us feel very welcome. Room very clean and comfortable and has all you would need for a short break. The area is really nice , it’s in a busy road but did not bother us . Very conveniently located to Margate main sands - will definitely staff again.

From the moment we arrived, we received a genuinely warm welcome from Jim, who immediately made friends with our dog. The room was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully set up. The owner confirmed question before we arrived and was there to show us the room, letting us know breakfast time and aquantus us with the keys. The room was clean and warm with a separate toilet and shower that worked well. The breakfast was great with a choice of cereal, lots of high quality full english breakfast items and toast with jams. Lots of drink options too with fresh orange juice. Jim the owner has made a special place to stay, even allowing guests to use the dining area outside of breakfast time with a microwave available to use. There are information leaflets for the area too, with the main town just being a short walk away. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thanks Jim

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I enjoyed it just as much, if not more. The host goes beyond what I would expect from this type of hotel and was particularly to an older lady who needed special care. I particularly appreciated the gluten free options for breakfast, which included sausages.

We were a party of 3 we checked into the hotel, and had a conversation with Jim the owner about where we were going in the evening and about what other night life was in the area. The rooms and facilities were great we were close to the local shops and central Margate was in close walking distance. The beds were comfortable so we had a great night sleep and we had a fantastic full English Breakfast In the morning. It is a fantastic Guest House and we would definitely come back again and recommend the hotel to others.

A very warm welcome from the owner when we arrived and he let us check in a few hours early. Room was perfectly clean and cosy while being a quarter of the price of local hotels. I'll definitely stay again when I return to Margate.

Convenient to sea few minutes walk to costal path and about 15 min walk to Margate Beach. Limited parking at property but plenty of free parking on nearby streets, room was clean and comfortable with leather sofa. We stayed here just one night whilst attending an event at dreamland. Only a 10 minute walk. Property was really comfortable. Jim the host was fantastic. He made us feel really at home. Showed us everything and the room was really lovely. Clean tidy. Really nice breakfast. Jim was so welcoming it felt almost like staying with family. We will definitely stay again.
