We stayed here on business (we work in agriculture). This place was an oasis in the midst of not much else. Updated old resort was done very well. Great pool, bocce, corn hole and janga for fun. Fire pits and they gave us a s’more kit in our room. The rooms were quite nice and comfortable. The place was quiet during the week with mostly couples staying there. The restaurant closes early, but we had an early dinner and dessert was the s’mores. Highly recommend this place.

If you have the chance, make the trip out into Central CA and take in the old world charm of the Cuyama Buckhorn. It has been lovingly cared for and updated over the past few years to keep the original bones and adding in modern amenities. Now don't think that you will have everything that you'd expect in a Vegas or high density city hotel, but you are getting away from that right? The staff is what makes this place so wonderful. Sam the bartender is wildly knowledgeable of the area, hikes and drinks. He is adept at flowing from table to table and keeping the flow moving and he's rather inventive with his drinks. He painstakingly has created and tested ways to use local fruits and flavors to create drinks you really just can't get in other places and you will taste the valley. The restaurant also leverages the local fare and it shines. The eggs make you stop and wonder if you've ever really had eggs before and the same holds true for the other offerings. The rooms retain the charm you'd expect but have been updated with get fixtures and bits of flair that makes you feel welcome. There's a cute sauna, a heated pool and a hot tub that is large enough to hold 10. There are also bocce ball courts, a pool table amongst other things but really you will spend a great deal of your time exploring the area and will love the wide open sky and the stars that really just aren't visible in the cities.

Wonderful! Especially love the pool area, fire pits, and the bar! Rooms clean and great decor - a s’mores kit which was a great touch. We took part in the weekend guest chef chuck wagon meal event which was a bit of a dud…great music but food was cold and underwhelming. Should have enjoyed a meal at the on-site restaurant which is always a hit with local produce and lots of flare. Staff were excellent during every interaction. The owner introduced herself and provided a Prosecco toast for our table. If you want a getaway with great amenities, the Buckhorn does not disappoint!

The buckhorn is an amazing spot to enjoy some quiet time and relax. The whole place is great and having the restaurant and bar on site make for a really low key stay. We always end up meeting great people and having a blast when we visit. It’s like a little piece of Palm Spring but with a western flair and without all of the heat. The food in the restaurant is absolutely top notch and so is the service. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We will be back again and again. I would suggest it for anyone. Five stars

Love this place!! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very comfortable and clean. S’mores kit in the room to enjoy by the 2 fire pits. Pool, jacuzzi & sauna was very relaxing. And a bocce court was super fun. We will definitely be back!!

So much more than we had hoped for! The rooms were spacious and clean!! The grounds well maintained! But here is what was really cool!! They have s’mores fixing’s in the room, ready to be used in one of the fire pits on the grounds! Also, the restaurant is excellent with a wonderful bar! All in all, a bit of glam cowboy in the middle of rural California! And for those of you with electric cars, they have 3 charging stations, with 2 of them for Teslas!

Cuyama is one of those towns in the Middle of Nowhere, Ca that is the perfect place to unplug and escape the hustle to experience slow living. The property is the only hotel, restaurant and bar in the town and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Can’t wait to go back 💖

What a wonderful hotel. The room was very comfy with great shower and all the facilities needed. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with a fantastic pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The restaurant was excellent especially the service, such a lovely woman looked after us. An amazing place to stay

Always the nicest stay. I am in the area for work every 3 months and would not stay anywhere else! Everyone there is wonderful, the place is spotless and extremely comfortable.

Our room was adorable. Very nice touch with the smores kit and the fudge shaped boots candy's. Lovely property. I have two small issues. The first only working ev charge that works. We would not have driven that particular vehicle. Since you are literally in the middle of nowhere. At least 65 miles to your next EV charger. Another guest got there first and charge their vehicles for 24 hours. If you only have one charger maybe Express to share that one charger. We went there for cowboy New Year’s. The music was certainly not cowboy themed. We were not the only disappointed people. Maybe next time New Year’s party only don’t stipulate cowboy anything. It’s too bad because you do really have a nice facility. Our room was cozy. Bed was comfortable clean well kept.

Great place to stay, nice , clean and quiet. Was here for work, but planning on bringing girlfriend up for weekend. Great restaurant and bar, and reasonable prices. Only downside was nothing opened up til 8 AM, so if you want a good cup of coffee and get up early, bring your own.. Will definitely be back!!

Room was clean and nice. Queen size bed was small…it was more like double size. Restaurant offered decent food (we had three meals there) but one dish, Fish’n Chip was over fried…so was French fries that were served with. Dining room for dinner was uninviting and cold. Breakfast/lunch section was bright and nice but closed off for dinner. Why not open the nice section for guests…perplexing. Bar was nice but it was full. Excellent coffee(although it was the instant kind) was offered in the room but no cream. Their excuse was the supplier hadn’t delivered them yet. We stayed two nights. They should’ve supplied cream from the restaurant as there was a small refrigerator in the room. We chose this place for the proximity to Carrizo Plain. Will stay again? Less likely.

This is a unique property where you can really be in the middle of nowhere in a cute hotel with really nice staff. Enjoy the peace and quiet and stargazing for sure. The minuses were for the mediocre bed, no water pressure shower, and broken WiFi. I’m sure many won’t care about these but for the price they’re expected.

Really did have a very nice stay. The rooms are large and well laid out. They do lack a microwave. What really irked us was the “resort fee” of $ 25. The did give us credit towards food and beverages which we were spending anyway. Overall it was a nice oasis and we will return

the property was lovely and a lot of thought was put into its renovation. The only problem was that we could not get onto the internet. An error message "wrong password" kept coming up, and the person we talked to kind of shrugged it off as poor reception. Which, I guess, was true and perhaps unpreventable, but her attitude was dismissive.

Loved the decoration of room and facility. Loved that they had games all around facility for kids to play and making your own s’more… excellent idea. 👍 Wish the price of room was not too high. ☹️

The property itself is amazing, all the finishes of this hotel are beautiful and it’s extremely comfortable. I gave 4 stars because of the restaurant, the food selection and taste was ok. It’s a limited menu and it’s the same for lunch and dinner. Taking into consideration that there is not much to eat in this area, you have all your meals here so you end up with the same small menu and it wasn’t great. The property itself is amazing, all the finishes of this hotel are beautiful and it’s extremely comfortable. I gave 4 stars because of the restaurant, the food selection and taste was ok. It’s a limited menu and it’s the same for lunch and dinner. Taking into consideration that there is not much to eat in this area, you have all your meals here so you end up with the same small menu and it wasn’t great. So much more than we had hoped for! The rooms were spacious and clean!! The grounds well maintained! But here is what was really cool!! They have s’mores fixing’s in the room, ready to be used in one of the fire pits on the grounds! Also, the restaurant is excellent with a wonderful bar! All in all, a bit of glam cowboy in the middle of rural California! And for those of you with electric cars, they have 3 charging stations, with 2 of them for Teslas!

Wonderful job of renovation, but would have appreciated windows that look out at the beautiful empty landscape rather than the interior of the motel and windows that could be opened at night. Food at restaurant was excellent; salad especially exceptional. Friendly staff.

Room was clean and nice. Queen size bed was small…it was more like double size. Restaurant offered decent food (we had three meals there) but one dish, Fish’n Chip was over fried…so was French fries that were served with. Dining room for dinner was uninviting and cold. Breakfast/lunch section was bright and nice but closed off for dinner. Why not open the nice section for guests…perplexing. Bar was nice but it was full. Excellent coffee(although it was the instant kind) was offered in the room but no cream. Their excuse was the supplier hadn’t delivered them yet. We stayed two nights. They should’ve supplied cream from the restaurant as there was a small refrigerator in the room. We chose this place for the proximity to Carrizo Plain. Will stay again? Less likely.

This is a super cute hotel. It's a really nice get away. Not much to do so this is more of a quiet getaway. The problem is the extra fee not listed anywhere. Through Hotels.com I was charged for room, tax, resort fee, local tax. When I checked out, I was told they would check the room for damages and if anything was taken from the minibar. A bill would then get sent out later. The bill came higher due to a Processing Fee and additional STax. I called to clarify this and no answer. Left messages no reply. Hotels.com also tried calling them and no answer. What a horrible way to run a business. Also, Hotels.com didn't do anything to remedy this. Both fails for me.

My husband and I renewed our vows here last wknd and have not stop smiling since we’ve been home. So much of that was because of the exceptional level of service at this hotel, the staff were all so friendly and helpful especially Paul the manager and Audra who coordinated the event. The food quality was delicious and we are pretty fussy eaters, the setting and the sunsets were also gorgeous. It is in the middle of nowhere, just 2 hrs from LA and we loved that. I'm sure we will come back soon!

the property was lovely and a lot of thought was put into its renovation. The only problem was that we could not get onto the internet. An error message "wrong password" kept coming up, and the person we talked to kind of shrugged it off as poor reception. Which, I guess, was true and perhaps unpreventable, but her attitude was dismissive.

If you have the chance, make the trip out into Central CA and take in the old world charm of the Cuyama Buckhorn. It has been lovingly cared for and updated over the past few years to keep the original bones and adding in modern amenities. Now don't think that you will have everything that you'd expect in a Vegas or high density city hotel, but you are getting away from that right? The staff is what makes this place so wonderful. Sam the bartender is wildly knowledgeable of the area, hikes and drinks. He is adept at flowing from table to table and keeping the flow moving and he's rather inventive with his drinks. He painstakingly has created and tested ways to use local fruits and flavors to create drinks you really just can't get in other places and you will taste the valley. The restaurant also leverages the local fare and it shines. The eggs make you stop and wonder if you've ever really had eggs before and the same holds true for the other offerings. The rooms retain the charm you'd expect but have been updated with get fixtures and bits of flair that makes you feel welcome. There's a cute sauna, a heated pool and a hot tub that is large enough to hold 10. There are also bocce ball courts, a pool table amongst other things but really you will spend a great deal of your time exploring the area and will love the wide open sky and the stars that really just aren't visible in the cities.

The buckhorn is an amazing spot to enjoy some quiet time and relax. The whole place is great and having the restaurant and bar on site make for a really low key stay. We always end up meeting great people and having a blast when we visit. It’s like a little piece of Palm Spring but with a western flair and without all of the heat. The food in the restaurant is absolutely top notch and so is the service. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We will be back again and again. I would suggest it for anyone. Five stars

Great hotel, very clean and lots of things to do on site. Restaurant food was decent but nothing special. Bar has great ambiance and town regulars are in the mix adding to the charm. Staff seemed like they did not know what they were doing and I got different answers from different people. There was rarely anyone staffing the lobby which seemed to aggravate a few guests with questions about their bills trying to check out before 11am.

What a wonderful hotel. The room was very comfy with great shower and all the facilities needed. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with a fantastic pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The restaurant was excellent especially the service, such a lovely woman looked after us. An amazing place to stay

We loved our 2 night stay at Cuyama Buckhorn. It truly is a hidden hideaway in the middle of nowhere. Perfect place to unwind and relax, just a couple hours from LA. The staff was friendly, Sasha was very helpful at checking us in and our waitress Megan at the restaurant was patient and knowledgeable with us on all the vegan options available. We hope to be back again soon!

This is a unique property where you can really be in the middle of nowhere in a cute hotel with really nice staff. Enjoy the peace and quiet and stargazing for sure. The minuses were for the mediocre bed, no water pressure shower, and broken WiFi. I’m sure many won’t care about these but for the price they’re expected.

Our room was adorable. Very nice touch with the smores kit and the fudge shaped boots candy's. Lovely property. I have two small issues. The first only working ev charge that works. We would not have driven that particular vehicle. Since you are literally in the middle of nowhere. At least 65 miles to your next EV charger. Another guest got there first and charge their vehicles for 24 hours. If you only have one charger maybe Express to share that one charger. We went there for cowboy New Year’s. The music was certainly not cowboy themed. We were not the only disappointed people. Maybe next time New Year’s party only don’t stipulate cowboy anything. It’s too bad because you do really have a nice facility. Our room was cozy. Bed was comfortable clean well kept.

Great location with beautiful sunsets for an escape! Just make sure to look at your receipts and read everything cause they do have a lot of additional fees. Processing fees for every order/drink/hotel room (on top of resort fees/taxes) just be prepared for that. Even the mini bar had an additional one time fee. Everything is also priced like Los Angeles prices. I had two ice coffees that cost $18 dollars (not including tip) being from LA just wasnt expecting that out in Cuyama. Other than that cute hotel with a great pool and staff is lovely.

We stayed here on business (we work in agriculture). This place was an oasis in the midst of not much else. Updated old resort was done very well. Great pool, bocce, corn hole and janga for fun. Fire pits and they gave us a s’more kit in our room. The rooms were quite nice and comfortable. The place was quiet during the week with mostly couples staying there. The restaurant closes early, but we had an early dinner and dessert was the s’mores. Highly recommend this place.

Cuyama is one of those towns in the Middle of Nowhere, Ca that is the perfect place to unplug and escape the hustle to experience slow living. The property is the only hotel, restaurant and bar in the town and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Can’t wait to go back 💖

Wonderful! Especially love the pool area, fire pits, and the bar! Rooms clean and great decor - a s’mores kit which was a great touch. We took part in the weekend guest chef chuck wagon meal event which was a bit of a dud…great music but food was cold and underwhelming. Should have enjoyed a meal at the on-site restaurant which is always a hit with local produce and lots of flare. Staff were excellent during every interaction. The owner introduced herself and provided a Prosecco toast for our table. If you want a getaway with great amenities, the Buckhorn does not disappoint!

The food in the restaurant is absolutely top notch and so is the service. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. We will be back again and again. I would suggest it for anyone. Five stars

The property itself is amazing, all the finishes of this hotel are beautiful and it’s extremely comfortable. I gave 4 stars because of the restaurant, the food selection and taste was ok. It’s a limited menu and it’s the same for lunch and dinner. Taking into consideration that there is not much to eat in this area, you have all your meals here so you end up with the same small menu and it wasn’t great. Also, we stayed for the BBQ experience on Saturday and it’s nice but the bbq meat is served really cold so we ended up taking it to go because it wasn’t enjoyable at all. Maybe a warming tray like the ones at the catering service would work fine. We didn’t enjoy this food at all. Sorry and it’s too bad because the ambiance and music was great but sometimes a bad meal can ruin your experience.

What a wonderful hotel. The room was very comfy with great shower and all the facilities needed. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with a fantastic pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The restaurant was excellent especially the service, such a lovely woman looked after us. An amazing place to stay

Overpriced and understaffed. Dinners a disaster as food comes in shifts so half the party finished before others received their meals. Would have been happier camping. Shame on Michelin.

Our room was adorable. Very nice touch with the smores kit and the fudge shaped boots candy's. Lovely property. I have two small issues. The first only working ev charge that works. We would not have driven that particular vehicle. Since you are literally in the middle of nowhere. At least 65 miles to your next EV charger. Another guest got there first and charge their vehicles for 24 hours. If you only have one charger maybe Express to share that one charger. We went there for cowboy New Year’s. The music was certainly not cowboy themed. We were not the only disappointed people. Maybe next time New Year’s party only don’t stipulate cowboy anything. It’s too bad because you do really have a nice facility. Our room was cozy. Bed was comfortable clean well kept.
