I have been traveling most weekends for five months now and this is the first hotel that had a security guard on staff. It made the hotel feel like it was an unsafe place to stay. Additionally, the first room that I checked into was actually occupied. Another first in all of my travels. I also woke up at 6:00AM to a couple having a domestic dispute in the parking lot.

Friendly staff, clean rooms as far as we knew. Hotel does not have breakfast. The room Jacuzzi worked well and held HOT water. Comfortable beds and big pillows, tv worked. I liked that they have good blackout curtains. It felt great to sleep in. Great stay for a low price.

Great room for the money. Room had refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Room had a Jacuzzi tub. Bed comfortable. New very comfortable pillows. Extra towels and soaps. Room was clean. Has air conditioning if needed. Rooms are not independently controlled for heat. Some outlets didn't work. Tv didn't work. No self service laundry. No vending. Has ice maker near lobby. Free coffee and ice water in lobby. No breakfast. Right next door is a gas station with everything you would need.

Front desk service was excellent, and there was a security person on staff at the front entrance, which was appreciated and provided some sense of security. Ice machine in lobby was great to have on a hot day to fill up coolers and cups@

The hotel had a security guard. Not sure if that made me feel safer or more nervous. Reasonably priced and was better than we were expecting. Nicely remodeled. The only issue we had was that our room was very damp. The air-conditioning had the room very cool but didn't get rid of the humidity. Would stay here again with family, not sure if I would stay here alone.

Our stay was absolutely terrible. We didn’t get the room we reserved, the floors were sticky including the carpet, there’s cobwebs in the room we stayed in, there are RESIDENTS at the hotel, there are underage children behind the desk, the siding is falling off the building (not seen in online photos), there’s garbage scattered across the property, the heat doesn’t work, someone entered our room with the do not disturb sign hanging on the door while we were away, and we were locked out of our room without our belongings because they said we didn’t have a reservation. They put us in the wrong room to begin with after we booked on Hotels.com and called to confirm. There was absolutely zero communication from the staff about any sort of mixup. Maya was the only staff member to apologize for anything after we checked out at 9:30 pm to go to Quality Inn down the road. This place is a homeless shelter and should definitely be investigated for all the shady stuff going on there. We received a full refund with no concern or apology when we were on the road 6 and half hours from home. We wouldn’t recommend that ANBODY stay at that dump. I can’t believe Hotels.com is even listing this absolute turd!

I was skeptical about this hotel when I booked it mainly due to the price. I figured it could potentially be a dive however I was pleasantly surprised! The lobby and my room were very clean, comfortable bed and friendly service when I checked in.

The staff were friendly and helpful when available.There were just not enough of them. The person who checked us in also was doing laundry, cleaning rooms and generally doing everything. The room when we entered was smelly. Like an armpit. The beds were clean. When checking the room I found an empty cat food container that was left by a previous occupant. The price was very similar to other hotels in Detroit Lakes and relatives stayed in one and were impressed with the overall condition and service. Probably will never book a room there again.

Staff are great, rooms are extremely clean, comfortable beds and pillows. Great price's. Nice and quiet!!! i was able to get some good studying in for my boilers test. Would definitely come back and recommend to others!

The staff at night carried on all night. The place smelled like they had been smoking swisher sweets and other things in it My keys were deactivated every single day and I paid for a week. They acted as though it was an inconvenience for me to be there. Come to find out this is more or less a hotel for homeless people.icing on the cake there were cockroaches sitting behind the tv having a stare down with me at 10:30 pm 3 nights in.

This hotel is away from the town look so but it was very comfortable clean we had no problems except for the pillows the pillows seem to be new and we're real fat and hard to use. Detroit Lake was beautiful I would definitely come back

Got there 20 minutes early. They told us they didn’t have any rooms available to come back sometime after four then as we are leaving, told us they had a room. Person at front desk could not give me a receipt stood there for five minutes, staring at the screen and wouldn’t ask anybody for help even after I asked her to because I needed a receipt so left without a receipt.

Seemed short staffed. Person working front desk was also cleaning rooms leaving desk unattended. First room they gave us had not been cleaned yet. Second one did not have shower curtain, but they got us one. We were locked out of our room the second day because room keys didn’t work. Had to go find staff to help because they were cleaning rooms. Pretty sure a couple guests actually lived there, just hanging out in hotel and in the parking lots all days were stayed. Front lobby chair were all ripped, all of them. Staff was nice, hotel was adequate to sleep but no other amenities available.

Close to alot of attractions with a price that even the poor folks can get out of town. Took awhile to check in as they didnt know how to do an expedia room rental. Also someone came in our room late (no chain on the door) flipped on the lights but then realized we were in there. Our key cards didnt work the next day so unsure of what was going on but scary nonetheless.

Stars of the Lakes hotel was very nice. Close to the VFW where we had an event. Hotel was clean and quite. Would stay there again when heading to Detroit Lakes.

The staff were friendly enough and our room was clean. There was a coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator in the room which was nice. The dispensers in the room like the shampoo, hand soap, etc. were all empty. Lastly the location isn’t ideal but we were in town for WE Fest and every other hotel in town was ridiculously priced.

Close to alot of attractions with a price that even the poor folks can get out of town. Took awhile to check in as they didnt know how to do an expedia room rental. Also someone came in our room late (no chain on the door) flipped on the lights but then realized we were in there. Our key cards didnt work the next day so unsure of what was going on but scary nonetheless.

The price was great and I had no issues with anything. I have been at a lot of hotels.,Some were more fancier than others but this is the first time I had coffee in my room with a Keurig coffee maker. Fantastic.

The rooms were clean. The front desk staff were kind of indifferent. Not very welcoming. Empty coffee carafes and asked about it and they kind of said “oh well.” Would have liked a cup of coffee. Price is inexpensive so I get it.

A little run down, no breakfast had to drive to breakfast. Local golf courses great, Long Bridge Restaurant had decent food and a live band!

Friendly staff, clean rooms as far as we knew. Hotel does not have breakfast. The room Jacuzzi worked well and held HOT water. Comfortable beds and big pillows, tv worked. I liked that they have good blackout curtains. It felt great to sleep in. Great stay for a low price.

Great room for the money. Room had refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Room had a Jacuzzi tub. Bed comfortable. New very comfortable pillows. Extra towels and soaps. Room was clean. Has air conditioning if needed. Rooms are not independently controlled for heat. Some outlets didn't work. Tv didn't work. No self service laundry. No vending. Has ice maker near lobby. Free coffee and ice water in lobby. No breakfast. Right next door is a gas station with everything you would need.

If I was on my own and just needed a cheap bed for 1 night, it'd be fine. But for my wife and I for 2 nights... not good. We checked out early. Some rooms have permanent residents; very worn, no breakfast, luke warm shower water, bed meh, etc. Staff nice and polite though.

Basic room. Nothing special. Deadbolt did not work on room. Room had a refrigerator and nice towels. No breakfast and vending machines are out of order.

Toilet was broken and requested maintenance. I was told they were called and will fix it. They didn’t in two days. When I checked the response was that they were called. Poor management. Requested room service for clean towels and had to go get them myself. No room cleaning or room maintenance. Very poor management.

I enjoyed my stay. I had a king size bed and I’m not tall so once I got on it I crawled to the middle which was no big deal. I thought it said continental breakfast but there was any. I don’t eat breakfast any way. As long as there is coffee I’m happy. I plan on staying again. The fridge even had a separate freezer. If you need a clean place to stay. I recommend this place
