Just not a good experience. No toilet paper, tv didnt work, dead bugs on the windows, stained towels and a awful pot hole parking. Just felt for $180 a night for very small room with old very used furniture and sinking floors. The online pictures very misleading wouldnt recommend.

The parklot was not plow or salt while snowing. Shower had hair on wall. The bathroom floor was cracked and in the bedroom the walls had damaged on. The bed sheets were stained. It is overpriced.

The room was very small and stunk like mildew. No parking area for truck with trailer. We didn't stay. We left and found another place to stay. Very disappointed!!!

We took our 4 grandkids to Michigan Adventures for 2 days. The location was only 10 mins away from the park, which was great! Our “cottage” was perfect for the kids! They loved it! 2 double bunkbeds and toys to play with. The only negative was no door on their bedroom door. Our cottage was located directly across from an awesome restaurant! Good food and walkable. The only other negative was the road noise. The house sits on the corner of a main street through town. The curb appeal was not the greatest, but the inside was adorable, well stocked of everything you would need, and clean! Our main objective was having a clean, convenient place to stay and the Whitehall Cottage met our needs. I would recommend for a family with kids for sure!

We arrived at 8pm and the door to check in was locked. So I had to check my email to see if they send me anything about checking in after 3pm. They did. They sent me a code to my room and my room number. We had to log into Netflix with our own account and pray that when we left it logged us out. The parking lot was super small and then it rains it was flooded. The room was clean and nice. I just thought maybe it was going to mini cottages not like a small motel. My friend and I still had a great stay tho. Maybe they need to update their pictures to show more of what the customers are actually getting and say more about checking in after 3pm.

If you simply need a place to lay your head for the night, this does the trick. No staff on site, no place to get snacks or drinks either on site or in walking distance. There is no coffee. Two people won't fit in the bathroom.Their towels are very luxurious, so there's that.

Our stay was for 3 nights over the Fourth of July holiday. Poorly kept. Dirt and dust under the bed and trash left in the nightstand drawer upon check in. Only Netflix on the tv. It played the first night but could not load the 2nd or 3rd night of our stay. The Wi-Fi did not work well on the second and third night of our stay. The hallway separating our room from the parking lot was filled with flies and they came in when we entered and left the unit. We purchased a fly swatter and gifted it to the next tenants. There was only toilet tissue but would have expected a box of tissues (Kleenex) and or paper towels since there was a frig and microwave available. We also gifted tissue and paper towels to the next tenant. Would have appreciated a coffee maker. Walls are thin and you can hear other tenants talking. Parking is inadequate when all units are full and the parking spaces are skimpy. We had to park on the berm one night. The parking lot looks run down. Repaving would help and make it more attractive. We would not stay here again and not recommend this place to any friends or family.

It looks like the outside hasn't been maintained in weeks. Parking lot and sidewalks have bit been swept or cleaned in ages. Inside the room, floors were dusty. Found a dead moth on floor. If there was a problem at night, how do you contact someone? I don't think the money spent staying there was worth it. I realize this is an older property but not large enough to be neglected like this.

Our stay was not as comfortable as we expected. By the pictures on the website, we thought we were getting more amenities than we did. The room was VERY SMALL. The floors were dirty, the bathroom door had black fingerprints all over it. All three of the windows in our room were not locked, and we didn’t realize it until the night before we left. There was no coffee pot, there was no place in the bathroom for anyone to put their toiletries while getting ready for the day. And there were no extra plugs to plug in electronics. We will not be returning.

Room 8 was VERY dirty. You can tell they don’t clean well. Not like it was a cheap place to stay. The bathroom shower was nasty and had mold. The celling was two different colors. The baseboards are nasty. The pillows had blood stains on them. The hotel had ants everywhere. Too bad I can’t get a refund this place is something you get bed bugs from. Spiders all over. They jacked the price up saying it was full and we were the only person there Friday night and Saturday only two other people. If this is their standard of clean no wonder why they get 2 out 5

I was very disappointed. The bed was very uncomfortable. There was no closet. A 2X4 on the wall and 2 very small stools to sit on were all the room offered.. The pictures were deceiving. It was clean, but the disadvantages of the overall experience far outweighed that fact. I will not stay there again. again

My son worked at Camp Miniwanca while in college. He and his family come up there to camp in the area every year. He was familiar with WhiteHall so wee got a room there. The price is reasonable. It is walking distance to several places. I had never done virtual check-in so I was a little apprehensive about how all this was going to work. I was given 2 different times when I should be getting emails regarding check in. And when information wasn't showing up at the earlier time, I was really getting anxious. I feel the issue was with where I booked the room through, not Whitehall Cottage, because my email from them showed up when it was supposed to. A previous review mentioned the uneven floor. Yes, it is uneven. There is a loose/wobbly tile by the shower also. The bed was very comfortable. Liked the comforter and drapes. It could use a little work yet, but overall not bad. I was there to sleep and shower, not to entertain people.

Cute and clean. Thin walls, heard the neighbors arrive all to clearly after we were trying to sleep. Floor slopped, my husband had to move his pillow to the foot of the bed to have his head higher even after taking tums to be able to sleep. No local channels only Netflix, but the Netflix hadn’t been paid so no tv. Texted and emailed, no acknowledgment, no apology even two days later. Not worth the price! Maybe for half ?!?

When I tried the self ck in I couldn't find a comunication to get me the room door code. I couldn't reach a live person via phone. I tried 3x yesterday and only got voice mail. Their voice mail said to text if need be. I did and never got a response on getting into the room. The other issue was the wi-fi password did not work. I texted them and never got a response. I was unable to do my work last night without it. I'd like a discount on the room charge.

Yes, it is uneven. There is a loose/wobbly tile by the shower also. The bed was very comfortable. Liked the comforter and drapes. It could use a little work yet, but overall not bad. I was there to sleep and shower, not to entertain people.

We arrived at 8pm and the door to check in was locked. So I had to check my email to see if they send me anything about checking in after 3pm. They did. They sent me a code to my room and my room number. We had to log into Netflix with our own account and pray that when we left it logged us out. The parking lot was super small and then it rains it was flooded. The room was clean and nice. I just thought maybe it was going to mini cottages not like a small motel. My friend and I still had a great stay tho. Maybe they need to update their pictures to show more of what the customers are actually getting and say more about checking in after 3pm.

As per folder in room, via # given when we tried to contact "24/7" maintenance, the number was "no longer in service". When we tried to contact Gary (property manager?) the number rang seven times and cut off. We went into the unit (after a struggle with the small print code in an email) at approximately 4:15 P.M. HAVING NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF PAINT THIS WAS (we took pictures) WE LEFT AT 5:30 P.M. At the time of leaving, I attempted to notify Hotels.com, Whitehall Cottages and Gary that we were leaving and that we wanted a refund. We Never stayed at Whitehall Cottages.

When I tried the self ck in I couldn't find a comunication to get me the room door code. I couldn't reach a live person via phone. I tried 3x yesterday and only got voice mail. Their voice mail said to text if need be. I did and never got a response on getting into the room. The other issue was the wi-fi password did not work. I texted them and never got a response. I was unable to do my work last night without it. I'd like a discount on the room charge.

To call this is "boutique motel" is a bit of an overstatement, to say the least, but it worked for what we needed. It was easy to check in, the beds were comfortable, and there is a nice fridge with a freezer. The TV is great, too. There were spiders in the corners, and in the bathroom which suggests the cleaning crew isn't exactly paying attention to details. I also was never able to get hot water in the bathroom sink. If you're not too fancy, and you're looking for a place to rest your head while you hit the beach and explore the area, this place is fine. If you need towels folded like swans, and mints on your pillow, keep looking. We would probably stay here again. One thing-I can't really speak to the courtesy etc of the staff. There is no front office or reception desk. The couple of questions we had prior to our stay were answered through Facebook within 12 hours. Also-there is no coffee maker, so if you need your morning cup of joe to function, bring your own !

Very clean property and met my basic needs. I there were better lighting, especially in the bathroom and a full length mirror would have been nice. But, other then that, my stay was great. It was located in walking distance to a lot of restaurants. Staff responded quickly to my questions, even with being off-site.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights, to visit family. The manager responded quickly to requests. It is a 15 minute walk to the White River/White Lake. The room was clean. However, the bed was very soft, the room is VERY small, and everything showed signs of age - except the new vinyl floors. I would stay here again, but don't expect any frills.

Property picture showed cute themed rooms. While the picture was acurate, what you couldnt tell was how cheap the rooms were done. Paint was so thin on ceiling you could see the drywall through paint. Shower floor was black, but should have been white, no, i didnt take a shower. Cob webs with bugs in corners. Ceiling height was 6.5 ft. And had water stains. I really dont think my 6 ft. 6 inch son could have stood straight up in this room. We happened to be in Whitehall on a Monday, there was only 1 restaurant open, thank goodness it was good!

We took our 4 grandkids to Michigan Adventures for 2 days. The location was only 10 mins away from the park, which was great! Our “cottage” was perfect for the kids! They loved it! 2 double bunkbeds and toys to play with. The only negative was no door on their bedroom door. Our cottage was located directly across from an awesome restaurant! Good food and walkable. The only other negative was the road noise. The house sits on the corner of a main street through town. The curb appeal was not the greatest, but the inside was adorable, well stocked of everything you would need, and clean! Our main objective was having a clean, convenient place to stay and the Whitehall Cottage met our needs. I would recommend for a family with kids for sure!

“Royal Suite” listed on Expedia sleeping 7. There was one king bed and a bunk bed. Expedia listing shows that there is a two hundred damage deposit, which actually was a non-refundable cleaning fee. The one regular bed was 27 feet from a highway with trucks and motorcycles throughout the night. Impossible to sleep. When you call the company’s number you get an answering machine and then text messages. This may be okay for a family with 2 adults and 2 kids, but you can find a better value.

If you simply need a place to lay your head for the night, this does the trick. No staff on site, no place to get snacks or drinks either on site or in walking distance. There is no coffee. Two people won't fit in the bathroom.Their towels are very luxurious, so there's that.

We have stayed here twice over the past 4 years. The rooms are cozy and clean and comfortable. The bed was good as well as the pillows. The location is great, not far from downtown Whitehall and walking distance to restaurants. Only 2 items we had: 2 towels for 2 people for two days. The air con started to blow only hot air and would stop when the temp was raised 2 degrees. I lowered the temp 10 degrees and still hot air. I then turned it off for an hour and restarted and it was cold again. Otherwise it was a great stay!

I was very pleased with my room and stay. I had a bit of confusion initially about how and when I was getting a room access code since no staff is on site but staff is very responsive through texts. The room was nicely decorated in a fishing theme. Each room is decorated in a different theme. The wood floors in the room reminded me of my childhood home, including the creaks! There were minor cosmetic issues but otherwise very clean. I did have some issues with the television reception but I really wasn’t there to watch television anyway and I was able to watch the news on my tablet. I would definitely stay here again!

We loved how cozy this place felt! We do wish there was access to paper towels and possibly other paper plates/silverware but completely understand why there wasn’t too! Clean, ice cold air, and convenient location!
