Motel 6-Toms River, NJ

I’ve seen prison cells bigger than our room. Good luck if you’re over six feet trying to get a good night’s sleep on their miniature double bed placed in an area barely big enough to hold it. The good news? The TV was brand new. The bad news? Why is there a protective plastic sheet ( complete with EPA energy rating still affixed to the screen? That serves as a perfect example of everything else wrong. The bathroom door was splintered on the bottom and stained with, well I had no idea. There were stains on the shower ceiling. Was it mold? I don’t know. The water was ice cold and the towels were as rough as sandpaper ( as was the toilet paper). The wooden stairs leading to the second level looked worn and splintered. Amenities? Yes there were if you consider a tiny microwave on a ledge in the office area and a broken coffee maker with no actual coffee pot. I guess if the choice was between sleeping in your car or this place, you would. Then again your car is probably a lot cleaner. My advice: avoid this place at all costs.

No microwave’s in rooms and no ice machine

Literally disgusting. Bugs everywhere. Flies all over the place. Windows kept open and let bugs in. So so much foot traffic . Along with needle caps in the rocks . Smashed glass door for the office door. Small little microwave in the lobby where check in is. Bedding was dirty. Room was so small. Fridge had old milk in it still. Cut a 4 days trip to 2 because of how awful this place was , and yet WILL NOT BE GIVEN ANY TYPE OF REFUND !!!! Was supposed to check out Tuesday , left Sunday morning . Still have not gotten my 50$ deposit back yet either . Literally never stay here . Not to mention the wooden stairs are warped and about to fall through and wobbly. Literally a huge sitting health hazard for the public .

This property has wooden outside stairs that need replacing. The floors in the room slippery to walk on. Smelled like smoke in a Non-smoking room. TV and a/c left on. Turned TV off and couldn’t get it back on.

The hotel is a mess. The pool was closed and looked like it had not been used in years. The room was bad. The towel were dingy and some had stains. Wife started having coughing and sneezing attacks after about 15 minutes in the room. Bathroom had mold in it . Pictures attached. We left and got another hotel room. Desk said we would get refunded but i doubt it. App doesnt allow for photos to be uploaded. Why

Was overcharged from what Expedia said the cost would be. Tub didn't work. pool was closed still with winter cover on it. broked floor boards. Falling apart night stands. Urine on the whole back section of toilet.

Staff was kind and accommodating. Linens were clean. Towels were threadbare. Floors dirty. Pool covered over. It appears there has been an attempt to make some improvements, but in sad shape. Too bad because it is a good location for folks on a budget

Rooms were dirty, burns in all the linen . Shower had mold , pool was never opened . Loud noisy and hard to sleep . Never felt so uneasy sleeping some where like that before .

The property seemed run down. The steps to the 2nd floor were rickety, no elevator, no ice machine, no answer at front desk when we called at 10 p.m., Door to unit was difficult to open and close.

This property is an absolute trash heap and should be investigated by the NJ Dept of Health. The bathroom floor tiles were busted, the walls were busted, the tub was cracked and there were open rusting spots, the linens/bath towels were worn, stained and disgusting. The floors were so dirty my socks were black. The door was dirty with hand prints and there was dirt and mold all over the bathroom. Fruit flies, flies and spiders in the room. Beyond atrocious.

This is one of the worst facilities I’ve ever seen in my entire life, I wouldn’t let my animals stay in this hotel. There were bugs and safety issues all over the place. New Jersey should actually investigate this property and condemn it.

Upon entering the office, I noticed this motel was run down. Received my room key and went upstairs. The motel was run down and the room reeked of cigarettes. If I could have left, I would have. I did not even shower because the bathtub although appeared clean, did not feel clean to me.

The property is unkempt and stinks. The pool area was overgrown and cigarette butts were everywhere. There were maggots crawling all over the parking lot where i was parked. Upon arrival i was extremly uncomfortable due to what was an obvious monthly motel tenant. He was hanging outside with someone where they whispered and watched as my husband unloaded the truck. Staring non stop, it felt like we were being sized up in a way. The motel was giving local homeless shelter or a prostitute workplace. That was just the outside. The $50 deposit was a God awful joke because the room appeared clean upon initial inspection, but once you saw the bathroom, all bets were off. Cracks, and holes were everywhere. The bathtub was stained, and it smelled awful. I was scared to even wash my hands because of the filthy sink area. A toilet paper roll that was already used was in the roller and a few bars of motel 6 soap laid on top of it. The refrigerator smelled horrible. I swear they put a coat of paint on the walls the day before we got there, but i digress. I went outside for air after trying to take this all in. I wasnt alone, i was being watched. The reason why we ended up in this motel was because i just purchased a puppy and needed a pet friendly place to stay on our weekend beach getaway. We booked last minute. So i was rushed to just pick a place and found myslef on a Jet2 Holiday. We left the next morning after the ants crawled all over us in bed. Canceled the entire trip at 5am.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is in desperate need of updating. The tub was stained blue for some reason. The tub also had chipped pits all over it. The wooden steps to the second level are loose and unstable. I found crickets and cockroaches in the room. There were stains on the floor also. I found a better hotel, so I decided to check out early before the checkout time after my first night. They are keeping a second night's rate and only refunding one night. ABSOLUTE RIPOFF. Their policy is NOT posted anywhere in this dirtbag place.

Over grown shrubs in the front it looks like they haven’t been cut in weeks place dirty you only get one towel per person in the room. I saw bugs crawling around my room.

The clerk spoke in a low mumbling voice. We could barely discern what he was saying. We gave him our credit card for the incidental fee. We specifically told him we were paying in cash and only wanted the incidental fee on the card as we had other bills coming out of the account. He chose not to listen, despite telling him several times, he charged our card the full fee for the room. He said he would return it but that obviously doesn’t happen instantly. It takes several days. So we had payments coming out the next day, with no money to cover them. We would be getting overdrafts now. Even with that issue, it was 10pm at that point and we just wanted to go to bed after traveling all day so we accepted the refund and agreed to pay upon checkout in cash after the refund hit our account. We got our key and went to our room. The room was horrifying. Not even close to the pictures online. It was the size of a prison cell. No bedspread or comforter. The wall was painted beige with patched white holes at least 2 feet in haphazard diameter. We practically ran screaming back to the office and told the clerk we would not be staying due to the condition of the room. We were unwilling to pay $120 a night for a nasty room. I managed to snap a few pics before we ran out.

One of the worst motels I've ever stayed in. Only 18" of space between the full-size bed and the Wall on either side. Very small bedside shelves. No other table in the room. Very poor lighting. Pedestal-type sink and no shelf of any kind in the bath. Slippery bathroom floor.

No chair. No coffee. No mirrors. No paper / pens / info books. No plates on outlets. No hand towels. Bar soap only. No cup in bathroom. No one in office at checkout. loose stairs. Paint splotches everywhere. TV bracket hanging out of wall. Very small room. Fake hard wood floors. Loud heater.

This room was dirty, the pillows were dirty, the bathroom was disgusting, the tv cabinet was filling apart, there’s was a spider on the wall and spider webs hanging from the lights. We paid almost $300 dollars for this room , I wished I did n’t had to stay there but we were 3 hrs away from home and had my 2 kids tired from walking and playing all day at the shore, and it was 11 pm by the time we went to the motel. Besides they were young adults staying on the room next to us and they were running, and being so loud until 2p in the morning. The men from the front desk kept coming up to ask them to be quiet . This was without any doubt the worst place I have stay.

This motel was the worst we have ever seen in our 59 years of travel. the refrigerator was 20 inches from the foot of the bed. could hardly pass to get to the bathroom. Ill equipped everything. small bar of soap for 2 people. No mirror in room at all. The floor was dirty. We actually let the dog sleep on his blanket on our bed not to get his blanket dirty.

Hotel was very rundown and unkept. Our room was tiny and way overpriced. Other clientele were very noisy and inconsiderate. This should be a place of last resort

I booked the room for my son . Paid for it in advance for I don’t live near my son. When he went to check in the wouldn’t let him because he didn’t have a credit card on file . I paid for the room for 3 days . Call the motel and they will not refund me the money. They were very nasty .

Staff are extremely disrespectful, they have horrible customer service! They forget what actual customer service is because without customers their wouldnt be any business! While i was showering my two friends was waiting outside my room while another friend that was staying with me accompanied them until we was done, and when i was done showering my friend told me the front desk needed to see me because they are gona charge me $260 because there was more people staying in the room. Mind you i could have let my friends wait inside the room they wasnt even inside when they saw them and they wasnt even staying in the area they was heading back home but we was gona eat dinner before they left. I explained to them the same situation and they was not trying to listen, they was too worried to be stealing money from peoole before even verifying the issue there was no explaining to them. This is extremely unacceptable i would never be staying in this place again let along any other Motel 6. These people left such a bad taste that i could never recommend anyone to stay at this location. Do better!!!!

Terrible service

They turned me away because they couldn't even check me in because their internet was down. I did go into the room before they decided to boot me out. It was very very rundown, the TV didn't work and obviously, neither did the internet

This was probably one of the worst motels I have ever been to. Their card swipe machine broke and they made us pay $531 in cash (had to find an ATM nearby). We also didn’t get our initially paid room at first and we’re given 2 unclean single bed rooms. The rooms reeked of cigarettes in addition to the horrible stench in the office. We were switched to a bigger room, which was also not cleaned properly. Cigarette holes in the sheets, smell isn’t good either, flies and ants all over windows inside, and SpongeBob squarehead pillows. Also, as I was walking down to the first floor, the railing snapped off which could have led to a possible fatality. The fridge was not cleaned and the towels provided also had an interesting scent as well. Please keep your family safe and never ever stay here.

I have so many pictures, and will be turning them into the Toms River County in hopes they shut this place down! YES …. It IS that BAD! Absolutely disgusting! Oh and before you ask…. Yes we wanted a refund … they refused. Said we need to contact Expedia, and we all know that’s not how that works! Unfortunately we couldn’t just switch hotels as we were on a tight budget! Thank God my aunt lived 5 minutes away.. all we did was sleep there (barely) as every night there was some form of POLICE action happening. Between the prostitution and drug busts and the drug parties going on upstairs. I WISH I was exaggerating! -1000

Great receptkon great management and ideal location

We booked last minute due to issue at another place. The bathroom was filthy—we did not shower as it had dirt and hair in the shower. There was a lot of activity on foot in and around the parking lot when we pulled in and were unloading the car etc. We were exhausted so we did stay in the room to sleep after contemplating just driving home

I don’t leave negative reviews, but need to warn people of this property. The pictures are not accurate to the reality of what it is. My son and I came down on a Friday night for an early early Saturday event. We checked in at 10pm & should have left after seeing bullet proof glass at the desk This property needs to be bulldozed. There is no rehab that could improve it. The external areas are dilapidated. The room itself smelled of pot smoke & vinegar, and was by far the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed in. The floor was a filthy sticky. Bathroom tiles & fixtures were dirty or broken. Switches and outlets were painted over. The room looks like it was painted by a toddler. Management will apologize and promise to do better, but for $145/night it was an unreal experience. My son and I woke up to barking dogs at 4:30 a.m. and were gone by 5. To management: Stop apologizing. Invest in the property, demolish it or sell it to someone who will.

It was a convenient location, that's it. I could barely understand the accent of the desk clerk, and the office was tucked away. My parking space had very little space behind it to turn around. The room was the smallest I have ever seen. The bathtub had no grab bars at all, and I didn't use it to bathe or shower. Yucky place.
