Chelsea Hotel was built in 1884 and has been fully renovated keeping as many of the original fixtures as possible which gives it its character. It is connected to a French style restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a well stocked bar as well. In addition there is a lobby bar which opens until 2.00 am. The hotel is in walking distance to Madison Square Garden (13-15 minute walk). The staff at the hotel was genuinely friendly and helpful. The latest feature of the hotel is the new gym and spa on the top floor. Chelsea Hotel can be really recommended.

Excellent service, very cool, artsy, luxury vibe but with a little grit. We stayed in a suite which had incredible amenities and space, like. luxury apartment. But, the sofa was dingy and a little gross, and we had to pay extra for a cot because it was not a sofa bed. The kitchen and bath had phenomenal fixtures and appliances. The balcony was a wonderful surprise. It was a little noisy outside at times, but it’s new york so nothing unexpected. Service was super friendly. Parking was a little far away and required arguing with the attendant to get the deal the hotel coupon indicated. This is a 5-star review in many ways, but with a few nits that travelers may want to be aware of that took it down to 4 stars for my review.

Had a fantastic stay here over Christmas. The photos don’t do the hotel justice! Amazing service & the history of the hotel is interesting also. Food & cocktails were great & the spa is incredible! We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in NY!

This place is one of the best in NYC NOW. Has a rich history, but is fantastic in all the important ways. Rooms are clean and have a great vibe. 2 fantastic dining options on the property and the hotel bar is great for after dinner meetings. Can’t say enough about it. Great hotel, you can feel the magic. Had dinner at El Quijote. Great service and food. Loved the Alcachofas Confitafas (artichoke, leek salad) and Parton Peppers. Great location and vibe. Bar is wonderful.

Hotel Chelsea is a whole vibe. Rooms are comfortable, well equipped, and charming. No attention spared. Housekeeping is like magic- turn down service 10/10. Service overall is impeccable. I was in NYC on a solo trip and v much appreciated how quiet the room was. I will absolutely be back. If you don’t know about the illustrious history at Hotel Chelsea, google it right up!

The room was beautiful and staff were very kind and polite. My only issue was that the previous guest’s long hair was still stuck to the wall of the shower in my room. I would give 5 stars for cleanliness if the housekeeping staff was mindful of this when cleaning the bathrooms.

What a wonderful stay! Rooms were soundproof. We were so rested. Enjoyed the comfort of the room and dining service. Very clean, new, friendly staff. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Hotel has recently been remodel. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The hotel is between 7th ans 8th Ave with a subway stop at the end of the street on 8th Ave. 7th Ave has a lot of restaurants on it so the location is good. About a 10 min walk to the high line. Its not in the middle of touristy area so its not as busy, but enjoyable!Definitely would stay here again

The Hotel Chelsea was fantastic. Cool old building with lots of history. Rooms keep the charm of a historic hotel, but upgraded and updated to provide the comfortable conveniences a luxury hotel should offer. Our room was incredibly quiet. You would never know you were in NYC. We'll be back.

Having the restaurant downstairs is terrific. The rooms are a little dark. Rooms are huge. Bathtub situation is over the top- huge soaking tubs. Bed is super comfortable. Loved my stay. Arrived with a 911 technology emergency and the staff handled everything. Great location for high line and galleries on 23rd.

Two night stay for business, ate great meals in the hotel, the staff is incredibly engaging and helpful. My only complaint is the reading lights next to the bed are very low light, it would be helpful to have a good light to read by. Sound on TV in both of our rooms was not good, very muffled.

Former NYer who travels up to the city quite a bit for business as well as visiting family. My go to hotel had always been The Hyatt Union Sq until my last stay back In Oct and was not happy as it has gone down hill since Covid. Since then I’ve been bouncing around trying different boutique style hotels. Well bounce no more. The Hotel Chelsea is by far the greatest coolest hippest hotel I have stayed in a very very long time. The minute you walk in you realize this hotel is some place special. From the people who welcome you at the front door to the people at the front desk the service is second to none. My room was ginormous which is a rarity in most hotels in NYC. The room decor is antique style but with all the modern amenities. How nice it was to get out of bed to step on a rug and not a cold wooden or tile floor. The bathroom was also fairly large with a huge shower. The only complaint if I have to find one is the rooms are dark but it’s all apart of the ambiance they have tried to create for you.during the day I opened the electric window treatments and there was sunlight galore. almost felt like I was in a Parisian Hotel. Seriously I cannot say enough about this gem of a hotel. It will absolutely be my go to anytime I have to be in NYC.

My third stay and it keeps getting better. The loft room is spacious and beautiful. Quiet with comfortable bed and linens. The fitness centre is on the room with a view from the treadmills.

Absolute wonderful. The hotel is beautifully renovated, and the room was fantastic. The only thing I would improve is to have a few more lamps, rather than having to use the main light in the room which took away from the ambience.

Hotel has a storied past and it’s lovely it’s come back to life under such great renovation. The lobby is vibey and warm, the rooms incredibly spacious, beautifully furnished with luxuriously comfy beds, the bars and restaurants cozy and stylish. The bathrooms are pretty cool but way too damn dark. Forget seeing your m-up. Lamps, ceiling fixtures and fabrics all great, some sweet attn to detail. Art super questionable if not downright ugly. Now here’s my honest rundown: the place is upscale, poshly done and very hip. The lobby and central stairwell are dark and a little claustrophobic and the area around the hotel not very picturesque. So if you’re super hip and must be with the painfully hip people of Chelsea you’ll love this hotel - the nicest of the hip joints in the hood and with truly crazy fantastic beds and wonderful staff. If however like me you like luxurious interiors, bright lobby and upscale neighborhood head to Park Lane or at least Midtown. After 3 days at the Chelsea I was desperate to get out and catch my breath somewhere more fab.

The Hotel Chelsea was fantastic. Cool old building with lots of history. Rooms keep the charm of a historic hotel, but upgraded and updated to provide the comfortable conveniences a luxury hotel should offer. Our room was incredibly quiet. You would never know you were in NYC. We'll be back.

Upon entering the property, I observed two guest service representatives assisting a gentleman. One of them noticed me standing nearby, briefly made eye contact, but then returned to her conversation before eventually asking how she could assist me and calling me over to the desk. I provided my ID and credit card, which she held while asking for my name even though it was clearly printed on my ID. This interaction felt disengaged and left me feeling somewhat overlooked. The following morning, I walked past the front desk where two guest service agents were present. Neither of them acknowledged me with a greeting. The only person who wished me “good morning” was the doorman as I exited and re-entered the property. Later that day, when I returned and stood near the elevator, the same two guest service agents again did not acknowledge me. When I placed my bag in storage upon my return, the guest service agent initially attempted to find a doorman to assist, but when none was available, she personally handled the task. I appreciated her effort, but I believe it highlights an inconsistency in the level of service the hotel strives to provide.

Loved the charm of the hotel and the rooms were super cute. The front desk staff left a lot to be desired. After checking in, there was never an instance where they even said hello when arriving back or even passing by to leave. Usually stay at the Dominick in soho and will likely return there. It was a cute place but the hospitality fell flat in that regard.

I’ve always wanted to stay here; and rounded out my honeymoon with an overnight at the Chelsea! The service was STELLAR, we were given an upgrade for the occasion, a handwritten card, and a little gift from the hotel. In addition- my husband left his bag in a taxi (not an uber) which seemed like a needle in a haystack to try to track down. The front desk crew gave us swift assistance and tips and we were able to track down the driver (and backpack)! The room was CHOICE, wonderful attention to detail, super lush and comfortable, and the bath was heavenly. I would stay here all the time if I could afford it! I mainly took a video of the room which unfortunately can’t upload, but sharing a couple stills I took here.

Everyone at the hotel was friendly, helpful and extremely courteous. Dominic and Anderson, two of the bellhops and many others helped with our luggage and assisted us with room requests. The lobby is inviting with a roaring fire and for a king bed/petite room, it was perfect for two people. Will definitely stay at Hotel Chelsea when I return to New York.

Apart from the one girl at the front desk who was very helpful, the rest of the staff were dismissive which was off-putting. Firstly, they put me in a room that faced a brick wall and I had specifically asked for a view. I complained as soon as I was in the room, but they called me back after 1:00 PM the next day (over 12 hours later). The reservations person was rude and wanting to get me off the phone as soon as she could - mono syllabic answers and you could almost hear her tapping her feet because she was so bored talking to me. I was moved to a room on the first floor but I eventually had enough and moved to the Virgin Hotel which was a 10 out of 10. Large rooms, clean and the staff were incredibly helpful and cheerful. The best part about Hotel Chelsea were the two doormen - Brighton and Tom. They were excellent and were kind and always had smiles on their faces. They recommended dining choices and things to go see if I had time. I had back pain and they recommended a good masseuse which was not far from the hotel and inexpensive. The Hotel was over-priced and a waste of money. The brass in the room and bathrooms was filthy and looked like they had not been polished for a century. There was grime on every brass piece in the room. I guess they can't be bothered to run a clean hotel. The 2 rooms I stayed in were similar dingy spaces and way too dark. I won't ever stay there again yet I'll be back in NYC in a month.

It's a different world at Hotel Chelsea. The attention to detail is obvious, from design to amenities. The staff has mastered the most difficult part of hospitality which is always to give the right answer while striking the right tone. Things are taken care of effortlessly and with pride.

The Hotel Chelsea provides a relaxed luxury experience that feels like a home away from home (only better.) Every staff member (especially front desk staff - hugely accommodating) was warm and friendly. The property itself is iconic - like staying in a museum, and I cannot recommend the bar enough. Will be back soon.

We selected this hotel because it seemed like it had more character than the W-ish design of most hotel options. It ended up being a great selection. The room was actually spacious and gorgeously appointed. It was so easy to get around, and there was always plenty of staff around to help out. I would definitely stay here on return visits.

An old charm, with lots of characters! All are working well though some brass fixtures in the bathroom starts to show their age. 23rd St. is a major traffic street going East & West, and can be noisy at times. But it's very convenient - subways with the blue lines on the 8th Ave on the left of the hotel, and the red lines on the 7th Ave to the right. There are plenty of good cafes and restaurants around.

Beautiful historic hotel. My husband and I stayed here for our 19th anniversary and enjoyed it very much. We dined in the cafe every morning and the food was wonderful but service was spotty. All three mornings our service began well and slowly tapered off until at the end we had to search for someone to give us our final bill. We visited the lobby bar several times and service was very good most of the time. One evening, after seeing a show we went to the lobby bar for drinks and some food. After being seated, our server proceeded to take care of everyone around us and completely ignore us. Twice I had to find someone else to help with things like napkins, water…basics. The room was lovely and quite comfortable, but the pillows are not. My neck was so unhappy by the end of the stay that I bought a vacuum bag set so I’ll never have to travel without my own pillow again! In spite of these few negatives, we had a lovely time and would absolutely return here.

The staff was super nice at the desk. Unfortunately the restaurant staff , particularly the hostesses both day and night were so rude !!!! The property is lovely. The cleaning staff knocked on doors at strange times even with the do not disturb robe. The maintenance staff came several times and disturbed us several hours after we called about the shower . We had already figured it out. They came again the next morning. The property is not well managed. The food at the restaurant was really expensive and really awful. Sorry Hotel Chelsea , don’t know how you get away with such poor service!!!

The only criticism I have is for the restaurant. The coffee is terrible. For such a nice place they need to spend a bit more money on good coffee. It gave the entire trip a bad feeling. Without good morning coffee what is there?

We loved the architectural and design features, especially the lighting in the rooms and throughout the hotel, the lobby seating area with the fireplace, and the brass fixtures and marble in the bathroom and throughout the whole hotel. The lobby bar and restaurant were also lovely; it felt like being transported to Paris!

Great hotel, you can feel the magic. Had dinner at El Quijote. Great service and food. Loved the Alcachofas Confitafas (artichoke, leek salad) and Parton Peppers. Great location and vibe. Bar is wonderful.

Favorite hotel to stay in NYC. I enjoy staying in the Chelsea neighborhood so this is the perfect hotel. The rooms are stunning. The Lobby Bar and Cafe Chelsea are both incredible options for drinks/food. Staying here feels like coming home.

Honestly we absolutely cant wait to come back to Hotel Chelsea. It's truly just wonderful to acknowledge all the detail and eye that went into reviving this gem. I was in designer heaven!! The bar is fab, drinks are to die for - room is so beautiful and spacious for a New York hotel. There was a small issue with our shower thermostat that had a damper to our stay in being able to get ready for our evening / we weren't really acknowledged about the inconvenience that was brought on us. But we are also not ones to complain. Once the plumber fixed it, it was great. Again we actually cant wait to come back and stay again!

Always the best stay in NYC. As a native this place has become my familiar destination . Cal at the front will go out his way to make your stay incredible. The staff always friendly and welcoming. I love the uniqueness of the beautiful historical gem of a building. There are enough choices for dining or relaxing at the spa that you never ever have to leave this beautiful fortress of a hotel
