The Rex is a far more basic hotel than I usually stay in, but it was okay. I left my comfort zone only because the more standard mid-range hotels were all unavailable the dates I needed. The price I paid was quite expensive for what it was, but I think I was just booking too last-minute in too busy a time. The location is great, and the shared bathrooms were not as bad as I feared. Breakfast or even coffee is only available after 9:30am, but otherwise had everything I needed for a perfectly adequate stay.

We recently stayed at The Rex when we visited Toronto for a concert at Massey Hall on Sept 17th. It was our 1st time at both the hotel and the venue. The hotel was a great price for someplace so centrally located! It was minutes walking to Yonge St and the Eaton Centre shopping district, and only a 15 minute walk to Massey Hall for the concert! - We had a room with 2 queen beds and a private in room bathroom. - The beds and pillows were both very comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. - There is no microwave or fridge in the room, the only drawback for us. - During the day when we arrived it was a little noisy in the hallway but very quiet at night. - In the morning they provide Free coffee, tea, juice, and toast. The server was quick and friendly 🤗 - They have a small restaurant on site and we saw several people walking in for breakfast and it looked great! - No elevator so not accessible for those with mobility issues. - No parking on site but just a few steps away there is a parking lot with 24 hour parking for only $30!! A great deal for downtown Toronto! Would we come back again? YES!! You bet!! 😊

Great location and probably the cheapest hotel in the area. But it's run down, needs a good clean and paint, the bathrooms are so small and inconvenient, and the beds are small (seems to be small, even for a double).
