Although our room was not ready when we checked in, the lift broke so we were unable to go up to it anyway. The staff quickly found an alternative ground floor room for me and my disabled husband so saved the day. A comfortable night was spent here!

Very clean, comfortable hotel. Some rooms due a refurbishment but clean and comfortable nevertheless. Spectacular location. Surprisingly good food considering it's a coach party hotel (there were three coach parties in). Food and wine also excellent prices. Restaurant staff excellent. Very dog friendly. My pooch was a huge hit with guests and staff. Lovely big garden with fruit trees. Staff went out of their way to help find a lost room key.

Clean and comfortable property that is across the road from a lovely beach setting and a 20 min walk to the village shops. Staff was wonderful and the dog friendly aspect was very valuable for us.

Old fashioned quite expensive hotel - but totally worth it. Reminded me very much of the type of hotels I would stay in with my parents on holiday as a child. Large dining room which served dinner and breakfast - always pretty well attended. A lively bar, with a good range of whisky. There was live music on our first night too in the bar. The view from our window was amazing - looking right over the loch itself - you just cross the road and you can go down onto a small beach when the tide is out. I was able to bird watch from my window. I really loved this hotel it was so nice.

Stayed with my son while we explored the Highlands and found the hotel to be an excellent base for us while we stayed in Gairloch. We were on foot so had no vehicle but the hotel has excellent parking facilities. Being situated right on the water-front the views were stunning and the beach provided a great place for a little after dinner walk. All the amenities you'd expect, we found the place to be warm and friendly. The rooms were clean and well presented. We'd be happy to come back here and stay again.

I felt that we should have been informed that the lift wasn’t working . I understood that it was a long standing problem and since our room was up 54 stairs and I have a knee held together by a steel implant I have now returned home needing physio . My husband is a little older than me at 82

Stayed for three nights in a twin room with en suite facilities. Everything was very clean and had all the usual tea/coffee available. The rooms decor and bathroom fittings are slightly old fashioned but comfortable. Very friendly and approachable staff who always helped with a smile. Hotel is very close to the beach and central village location with superb views over Gairloch bay. Will definitely by returning.

Dirty room, door wouldn't close properly, TV dated and hanging off poorly mounted wall bracket, room next door light on all night shining into my room, noisy staff wandering about and slamming doors from 6am. Towel rail not working and taped up connection with black electrical tape. Won't go again

The lady on reception was lovely and very helpful! ☺️ Other than a comfy bed, there’s not really anything else positive to say about this hotel unfortunately! It’s VERY dated and definitely needs a refurbishment of sorts.. the lift felt like a death trap, the floors were SO creaky, the TV didn’t work at all and the remote itself was so dirty ☹️ it seemed like no dusting had been done in a long time.. the bed had a huge stain down the left hand side.. I presume it was a spilt cup of coffee but who knows! It’s sad as this place from the outside is beautiful and definitely has the potential to be amazing, just not the way it is at the moment ☹️

Property is tired and needs a lot of updating. Bed and bathroom were clean but very old fixtures and fitting such as carpets and chairs were not. Room had a stale smell and needed airing out. We had to sleep with the window open. There was peeling paint and a water stain from a leak in the room. Staff were trying there best but I wouldn’t stay again.

Great location on the seafront, you can actually hear waves breaking. Huge breakfasts and having sampled the restaurant one night can recommend that too. Only negative was the room wasn't serviced.

Room was very creaky. You couldn’t take a step without it creaking. The garbage bins had garbage from the previous guests which didn’t give us much confidence in their cleaning abilities though to be fair the rest appeared clean. Other than that it was a good stay

A lot of noise transference from the the room above really squeaky floors kept waking us up from 6am on both mornings of our stay. On the positive side the breakfast is very good.

The room was incredibly hot, couldn't open the windows properly, not well slept! Fire protect door direct mounted to the rooms wall, slammed the whole time in the frame, everytime somebody walks through, cannot be endured.

Perfectly serviceable mid-range highland hotel. Big Victorian building so a bit creaky and a bit old fashioned. Decor feels a bit tired and clearly a struggle to keep on top of minor maintenance in such a large building. Staff and service were good. The location is the main reason to go all that way, not the hotel itself. Would be fine to go back if I’m ever close by again.

We were made feel very unwelcome. Having texted the property earlier in the day to say that we would be checking in late (initially thought to be around 8pm) we eventually arrived at 8.50pm. We first had to wait for a few minutes as there was nobody at the reception desk. When we asked about dinner we were told that we were too late and the kitchen was closing at 9pm. We then asked about bar food and even said that a basket of chips would do and at this we were directed to a takeaway in the town !!! Feeling a bit disgusted we were told that our room was in the second floor and that the lift was working. This was a huge inconvenience as my wife has limited mobility due to a bad knee. Having gotten to our room we decided to go to the bar and which was a very unwelcoming experience. At 9.20pm two members of staff arrived into the bar with burgers and chips - more or less what we had asked for but which could not be accommodated !!! Then at breakfast this morning we were met by a very stroppy woman (who had been in the bar the night before). The whole experience was extremely poor.

Staff unprofessional when we checked in. Food good and plenty of choice for drinks. Nice location, however, we were disappointed with our room. Despite being larger that we expected, the room was in need of an upgrade, with the bathroom being particularly poor. We only stayed for one night.

The building is imposing & old, and is charming for those reasons. True, there was a small sign of prior damp on the ceiling of my room: but given the fairly remote region, plus the huge impact of Covid in 2020-21, I think it is remarkable that such hotels managed to survive financially. Also, old buildings pose significant maintenance challenges. Cleanliness was good, staff were excellent, and the value for money was significantly better than other hotels in the area. Would I stay there again? You bet I would! And the sunsets were superb. Well done, Gairloch Hotel.

Great location on the seafront, you can actually hear waves breaking. Huge breakfasts and having sampled the restaurant one night can recommend that too. Only negative was the room wasn't serviced.

The hotel was lovely to stay at. It was well kept and easy for parking access for all and had a lift for those with trouble on the stairs. It came with a staff that was helpful and conscientious. There was nice walks adjacent to the beach that were very nice but bring a windbreaker for those windy and wetter days. The local museum was excellent and had lots of interesting history as well as a well supplied gift shop. The local pub down the way but still walkable for most people and had good food, as did the hotel itself. We enjoyed our three days at the hotel as it was close enough to drive to other local sites too. I would definitely check out Ullapool, which is about an hour away. I am not picking on this hotel particularly but ALL of the hotels need to up their game with recycling bins. The education about plastic waste seems more pronounced within the small isle trusts where fishing is more essential but still seeing lots of plastics just thrown into the garbage bins and some on the beaches. Plastics is a huge problem worldwide so looking forward to more pronounced awareness building globally.

The beautiful location is the main attraction for us. Impressive architecture and very nicely decorated. Dining roon staff were delightful. Our room 301 had a shower which was difficult to switch from tap mode.

Stayed with my son while we explored the Highlands and found the hotel to be an excellent base for us while we stayed in Gairloch. We were on foot so had no vehicle but the hotel has excellent parking facilities. Being situated right on the water-front the views were stunning and the beach provided a great place for a little after dinner walk. All the amenities you'd expect, we found the place to be warm and friendly. The rooms were clean and well presented. We'd be happy to come back here and stay again.

Great view! Beach front (the midges love me though!). Was able to get an amazing time lapse of the sunset. Adorable shops close. Will visit again!

We stayed 2 nights the property was comfortable and very clean breakfast was good with the choice of hot or cold we booked for evening meal on our stay i found this very disappointing not a great choice .

We were made feel very unwelcome. Having texted the property earlier in the day to say that we would be checking in late (initially thought to be around 8pm) we eventually arrived at 8.50pm. We first had to wait for a few minutes as there was nobody at the reception desk. When we asked about dinner we were told that we were too late and the kitchen was closing at 9pm. We then asked about bar food and even said that a basket of chips would do and at this we were directed to a takeaway in the town !!! Feeling a bit disgusted we were told that our room was in the second floor and that the lift was working. This was a huge inconvenience as my wife has limited mobility due to a bad knee. Having gotten to our room we decided to go to the bar and which was a very unwelcoming experience. At 9.20pm two members of staff arrived into the bar with burgers and chips - more or less what we had asked for but which could not be accommodated !!! Then at breakfast this morning we were met by a very stroppy woman (who had been in the bar the night before). The whole experience was extremely poor.

Great position with lovely views. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. We ate in the restaurant and found the food to be far better than some reviews. Fresh veg, homemade pies. Very good value. Good choice at breakfast with staff constantly topping up. Only complaint was the shower head needed changing as there was very little spray. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Amazing looking hotel opposite the beach. The room was large with a large bedroom but the corridor had a funny smell from damp. The food was good, although it was very difficult to get the staff’s attention in the morning at breakfast and nothing was being refilled so there were limited options which was surprising as we went down during the middle of service.

The hotel is in a lovely location, close to the water, which is definitely one of its best features. However, the hotel itself feels quite dated and would really benefit from a refresh. The rooms, décor and facilities look tired, and updating them would make a big difference. With some refurbishment and modernisation, this could be a really lovely place to stay, especially given its great location.

From arrival to departure our stay was excellent. Our room had obviously been recently renovated. It was very tastefully decorated and the bathroom was fresh and modern with a large walk in shower. Our evening meal in the restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced and the buffet breakfast was great. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely refurbished room overlooking the bay. I hadn’t expected it to be as nice as it was. Are in the hotel at night, lots of vegetarian choices. Great stay; I will book here the next time we need to come to Gairloch

One double room obviously updated and had a nice view. The twin room upstairs was very dated and tired - smelt of cheese and onion crisps! Glad we only stayed one night. Breakfast was poor quality and somewhat limited in scope.
