Checked in for one night during our road trip. Check in was quick and easy and we were escorted to our room. The 1st thing we noticed was the goody bag left for our wee dog which included a towel, some treats and a tennis ball. This was a nice touch. The room was lovely and cozy, the bed was big and comfy. The shower was clean and their body wash had the most amazing scent. Breakfast was delicious and the bagpiper at 9am is an excellent touch for tourists from other countries. We would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to choose this hotel. You will not be disappointed

Don't be put off by the rather unexciting outside, inside this is a lovely hotel with clean, comfortable rooms with really stylish fittings and bathrooms. The food was excellent and the staff great. And watch out for the very Scottish morning walk up.... And 2 mins walk from a most amazing beach.

Excellent hotel with lovely comfortable rooms. Check in was easy with all staff being very polite and helpful. We weren't there for an evening meal was breakfast was delicious and great to get a freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to a buffet. There is also a large car park, with the hotel being a very short stroll from the golf course.

This hotel has excellent facilities. The rooms are modern and tasteful, well finished with Arran Aromatics toiletries. Best breakfasts ever served by very pleasant staff. Dinners also top notch.A well stocked bar with knowledgable bar staff. Very dog friendly and all located by the beach and golf course in the charming town of Brora.

Someone put a lot of love into designing the cosy rooms and the interior of the hotel. Very friendly staff. Great food in the restaurant... not to forget the lovely wake up call with a real Scottish bag piper. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful at all time. Breakfast was well cooked and offered a good variety of hot and cold options. We love this hotel. This is our second stay and will definitely be back.

The room was fine and the bed comfortable but the room was not serviced very well, bathroom floor dirty, towels not changed at all during our 3 night stay. The restaurant is overpriced and the sevice slow especially at breakfast time ( we waited 40 mins for our breakfast one morning). Not enough staff to cope at busy times. The food was average and did not justify the high prices.

We were extremely pleased with all aspects of the hotel. Rooms were beautiful, staff was friendly and helpful and the area is beautiful as well. Enjoyed our one-night stay immensely!

Travelled with a child and we both greatly enjoyed our stay. Made to feel very welcome and found our room comfortable and clean. Netflix was a bonus for the 9 year old! We dined in the restaurant and both loved the food, finding it good quality and delicious. Kids menu had enough choice. We will be returning for another visit, as it is a beautiful drive up the coast and lovely to stay in an older property which has character.

Well, where do I start? The good point or the bad points. The good point, the room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Towels were good and shower was powerful. Room serviced timeously although a dirty cloth was in the bathroom when I checked in. The bad points, a fair few I am afraid. Food in the restaurant is not great. The speed of food appearing would suggest that it is all pre cooked and simply warmed up. £16.00 for four small overcooked queen scallops is not great and the beetroot starter was of ppor quality imo. The icing on the cake, the ice cream sundae, £12.00 for three scoops of chocolate ice cream with a chopped up imitation Mars Bar and some chocolate sauce served in a small bowl. The restaurant manager looked positively embarassed when I challenged her about it and in fairness it was quickly removed from the bill. Once the food was served no-one was in the slightest bit interested in how things were. Breakfast was not much better, stale cornflakes in a large bowl were the highlight. No sugar for tea and coffer on the individual tables and you just get told it is on the buffet table, fine for one cup but have more than one and you need to carry the cup back and forward. Would you like toast? Yes please, have one slice and one measly piece of butter. Breakfast on the second day was in fairness significantly better than first day but the butter and sugar issues remained. Charging the money that they are they require significant improvement in many areas.

We stayed here for one night as a birthday getaway at the end of October. It's really easy to get here and find the hotel, well signposted, and there is plenty of parking. Coming into the hotel we were greeted by a crackling fire and a warm reception area and check-in was friendly and quick. We were taken to our room. We had a superior king room which was beautifully decorated, very elegant and comfortable. The bed is enormous and nicely dressed with cushions and a tartan throw. The bathroom had a huge shower and lovely Arran toiletries and lovely thick fluffy white towels. We had tea and coffee and some delicious homemade shortbread and even the crockery in the room was carefully chosen. There's no fridge in case you want to bring anything that needs to be kept cold. The hotel bar is really elegant and serves a large variety of drinks, cocktails, whisky and gin (staying largely loyal to Scottish gins) and the Curing Yard restaurant served us the most delicious meal of seafood soup and mussels and lamb and beef, locally sourced. The menu is excellent and it was difficult to choose what to have. There's plenty of choice for vegetarians too. In the morning at breakfast time we were welcomed to a huge choice of buffet items (cereals, fruit, pastries, yoghurt) and then a great choice of cooked breakfast too. The vegetarian haggis is really tasty! The service is excellent, really friendly and attentive. We are already really looking forward to going back.

This is overall a very nice hotel, and the room was very comfortable. My gripe is with the wi-fi. It’s hopeless. Disconnects and reconnects constantly, and is incredibly slow. I don’t actually understand how they can make it this bad. You’d have to start with a dial-up modem, but at least that might have a stable connection.

Great location. The beach and golf course are just around the corner. The room had two single beds which I thought was odd for a premier king. They did offer to push them together with a king size quilt, but i don't really consider that the same. The evening meal was very nice, but staff a little awkward. They didn't seem to understand what a gin martini was, and how to bill it. I'm being a little picky.. They're close to getting a 5 star review from me.. it just wasn't quite perfect. Would stay again though, location was excellent.

We really liked the interiors of this hotel: all the public areas and bedrooms are beautifully decorated. Dining room was excellent and breakfast really good as well. We like the view from the hotel over the harbour and the town.

The room we had was a disabled room and not at any point were we told of this at check in. My partner is 6’4” and I’m 5ft 5, everything is for wheel chair guests so we had to bend down for the mirrors the shower was far too low for my partner .The light in the bathroom was not good for applying makeup on . When asked if everything had been good at the hotel , I told the receptionist that I wasn’t happy with the room she said she would have upgraded me if I had said on arrival !! Makes no sense - I didn’t book a disabled room and therefore should have been told or we should have been placed n another room that was available. Plus I had issues with the tv and had to get 2 people to come and sort it out and they couldn’t get the subtitles removed at all . This was very disappointing as the food and service was good. 10% has been taken off my food bill.

I was very pleased with my room, I had a nice view and could see the sea in the distance. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The included breakfast was very tasty and with a good choice. This was my second stay and will definitely return in the future

We stayed here for one night as a birthday getaway at the end of October. It's really easy to get here and find the hotel, well signposted, and there is plenty of parking. Coming into the hotel we were greeted by a crackling fire and a warm reception area and check-in was friendly and quick. We were taken to our room. We had a superior king room which was beautifully decorated, very elegant and comfortable. The bed is enormous and nicely dressed with cushions and a tartan throw. The bathroom had a huge shower and lovely Arran toiletries and lovely thick fluffy white towels. We had tea and coffee and some delicious homemade shortbread and even the crockery in the room was carefully chosen. There's no fridge in case you want to bring anything that needs to be kept cold. The hotel bar is really elegant and serves a large variety of drinks, cocktails, whisky and gin (staying largely loyal to Scottish gins) and the Curing Yard restaurant served us the most delicious meal of seafood soup and mussels and lamb and beef, locally sourced. The menu is excellent and it was difficult to choose what to have. There's plenty of choice for vegetarians too. In the morning at breakfast time we were welcomed to a huge choice of buffet items (cereals, fruit, pastries, yoghurt) and then a great choice of cooked breakfast too. The vegetarian haggis is really tasty! The service is excellent, really friendly and attentive. We are already really looking forward to going back.

Stayed at this 4 star hotel having stayed at one in Inverness. Supposedly both 4 stars but Royal Marine was on a different level!! Food was great, staff were helpful and friendly. Management were visible and saw the Manager trying to help guests on future reservations due to weather conditions making it difficult for their onward travel. Reception gave recommendations for attractions in the local areas. It represented excellent value and would definitely stay there again.

We weren't there for an evening meal was breakfast was delicious and great to get a freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to a buffet. There is also a large car park, with the hotel being a very short stroll from the golf course.

The room was fine and the bed comfortable but the room was not serviced very well, bathroom floor dirty, towels not changed at all during our 3 night stay. The restaurant is overpriced and the sevice slow especially at breakfast time ( we waited 40 mins for our breakfast one morning). Not enough staff to cope at busy times. The food was average and did not justify the high prices.

The Royal Marine Hotel has an amazingly attentive staff that will go over and beyond to make sure you have a fun stay and the food was impeccable. We loved it so much we added an extra night during our stay! We will definitely be back!

We had a lovely couple of days in Brora. The hotel is beautifully situated near the beach. It was freshly refurbed and in excellent condition. The room was a great size and the bed very comfortable. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. The only slight niggle was the servers, who were all very friendly overlooking things like removing used plates, filling up water glasses and keeping the breakfast buffet stocked up. The hotel was busy and I guess the staff were a bit harassed, maybe an extra pair of hands required? Overall an excellent experience, hope to be back.

We chose to stay in the Royal Marine because we were golfing in Brora and its location is perfect. The architecture of the building is beautiful and the interior has, mostly, been well restored. Our room was fine, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, all our experiences in the restaurant and bar were spoiled by poor service. The staff seemed uncertain, as though they had not received adequate training. Errors were basic, e.g. bringing main courses before starter plates had been cleared, handing hot plates across others with the expectation we would take the plates from them, forgetting to bring items we had ordered. We had high expectations of the hotel but felt very disappointed with the overall experience.

Great location. The beach and golf course are just around the corner. The room had two single beds which I thought was odd for a premier king. They did offer to push them together with a king size quilt, but i don't really consider that the same. The evening meal was very nice, but staff a little awkward. They didn't seem to understand what a gin martini was, and how to bill it. I'm being a little picky.. They're close to getting a 5 star review from me.. it just wasn't quite perfect. Would stay again though, location was excellent.

This hotel has excellent facilities. The rooms are modern and tasteful, well finished with Arran Aromatics toiletries. Best breakfasts ever served by very pleasant staff. Dinners also top notch.A well stocked bar with knowledgable bar staff. Very dog friendly and all located by the beach and golf course in the charming town of Brora.

Travelled with a child and we both greatly enjoyed our stay. Made to feel very welcome and found our room comfortable and clean. Netflix was a bonus for the 9 year old! We dined in the restaurant and both loved the food, finding it good quality and delicious. Kids menu had enough choice. We will be returning for another visit, as it is a beautiful drive up the coast and lovely to stay in an older property which has character.

Well, where do I start? The good point or the bad points. The good point, the room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Towels were good and shower was powerful. Room serviced timeously although a dirty cloth was in the bathroom when I checked in. The bad points, a fair few I am afraid. Food in the restaurant is not great. The speed of food appearing would suggest that it is all pre cooked and simply warmed up. £16.00 for four small overcooked queen scallops is not great and the beetroot starter was of ppor quality imo. The icing on the cake, the ice cream sundae, £12.00 for three scoops of chocolate ice cream with a chopped up imitation Mars Bar and some chocolate sauce served in a small bowl. The restaurant manager looked positively embarassed when I challenged her about it and in fairness it was quickly removed from the bill. Once the food was served no-one was in the slightest bit interested in how things were. Breakfast was not much better, stale cornflakes in a large bowl were the highlight. No sugar for tea and coffer on the individual tables and you just get told it is on the buffet table, fine for one cup but have more than one and you need to carry the cup back and forward. Would you like toast? Yes please, have one slice and one measly piece of butter. Breakfast on the second day was in fairness significantly better than first day but the butter and sugar issues remained. Charging the money that they are they require significant improvement in many areas.

Excellent stay here again. Staff attentive and beds and rooms nice and comfortable. Only thing I’d note is that the restaurant menu was far more extensive during my stay this time last year so there isn’t as much choice now with only one veggie option for each course. We have stayed at the Royal Marine Brora many times over the years and welcomed the refurbishments when it changed hands a few years ago. Checking in for two nights was fine, the room spacious, warm and clean, but no familiar faces amongst the staff. It was our anniversary and we looked forward to dining in the evening. I ordered scallops as starter which turned out to be a small portion of thimble sized overly crisp battered balls on a bed of??. Disappointing! We ordered a bottle of New Zealand Malborough Moko Black costing £44.00. It was brought to table by an inexperienced steward who had plonked the bottln a small bed of ice in an aluminium tube only slightly wider than the bottle. We had to help ourselves at which point my wife found the bottle 'warm' I caught the eye of presumably the maitre de, though his appearance resembled that of a gardener and asked how I could cool the wine. Ice was added to our glasses and the tube was replaced with an ice bucket. My wife had monkfish risotto. The monkfish ressembled dice cubes and the risotto was bland. I had 'the dish of the day', pork belly and looked forward to crispy tops and juicy undersides. A small housebrick arrived arrived on a bed of noodles. I prized it open, but it was dry and overcooked. I hardly ever send things back as this interferes with the enjoyment of others, but succumbed on this occasion. My plate was whisked away and replaced with fish and chips. A shame, Charles

Warm & friendly welcome made our check in a great start to a lovely stay. The room, although at the rear of the property with no views, was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a bonus as we didn’t expect it to be included and it was quite delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to everyone.
