The initial reception check in wasn't ideal, I'd arrived a little early, the room wasn't ready which is fair, but there wasn't particularly a warm welcome or a suggestion of have a cuppa somewhere whilst you wait, I'd asked if the rugby was on anywhere as I'd been keen to watch the second half of the world cup semi final but was just told no. I'd ended up leaving and returning later. Again it wasn't particularly a warm welcome, I was checked in then advised if I wanted to use the spa I needed to pay for that, when I queried it I was advised that was cheap. However it's disappointing that the use isn't inclusive of the hotel stay, which it has been in the many years I've stayed at this hotel before, and given that there are other similar hotels in the area it would make me choose more carefully in future. That aside the leisure facilities are perfect for a short break and the hotel offers a great location for exploring the area. The restaurant has been updated and has a lovely view, the food was pricey but delicious.

Nice hotel overlooking the river. Rather 1980's vib to the hotel but well maintained and clean. Nice pool facilities, again rather dated in design, but very serviceable. Very popular with parents and children. If you want to swim lengths probably book an early slot in the morning. Note you need to book a slot at the leisure facilities reception - I assume this is to avoid overcrowding. Also the lockers don't have locks but can be secured with a padlock if you bring one. Food in the restaurant was also good.

The hotel and facilities are really nice. We used the pool which was great too! The only thing I would say which wasn’t obvious for us on booking is there’s an extra charge to use the pool facilities.

A comfortable room with plenty of space. Friendly staff and an adequate breakfast. Good leisure facilities although we were disappointed that although we had booked for 7pm to use the pool on arrival we were told it was closed until 8 for aqua fit-perfectly reasonable but we should have been at booking so we could have chosen an earlier time.

I have stayed at this hotel three times over the last month, and will be staying again over the next couple of months. The hotel is in a nice location surrounded by countryside and is very quiet, the leisure facilities are excellent as are the dining options, but best of all it’s the staff who make this hotel well worth the visit, all staff are welcoming and helpful and are always available if you need anything, and a special mention to Olivia the young lady who works in the bar and grill of an evening, she is always smiling and happy, she literally never stops, constantly making sure guests and patrons have everything they want, a lovely hotel with lovely staff.

Dirty, mouldy, tatty, falling apart, violently hot, staff don’t care. Genuinely the worst room I have ever stayed in. When I asked about the heat I was told there was a fan. I rarely complain but this was not good.

Very run-down place. Bathrooms were old and tacky. The restaurant floor was sticky and smelled weird. The food was great, although, during breakfast the plates were dirty and the cutlery also.

Bathroom is outdated and had mold on the bath sealant and limescale on the taps. The shower water flow was poor and the temperate as warm on Sunday morning, but hot when using the bath the night before.

The Forest Hill’s hotel in frodsham has to be one of the best stays we have had in a hotel lately.The rooms were spotless as were the bathrooms ( if a little dated ) all the facilities provided pool sauna etc were excellent. The best of all though was definitely the staff all of which were helpful and friendly and to cap it all the food was good ! Great stay

I stayed for one night on a business trip. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning. My room was next to the pool plant room and boiling hot. Location though is great, the nature area was amazing to go running in and made the stay really worthwhile

Really nice view from the superior rooms. Pleasant and relaxing stay. Couldn’t get in the pool as it was always too busy but the gym was nice and clean and full of decent kit. Would definitely stay again.

3 star type property. Location was the selling point for us. We had two different rooms. If I based this review on the first one it would be less than favorable as the room was unbearably hot. The second room we had was much nicer and temperate.

When we checked in our 1st room had most of the lights not working & the bathroom was very dated. After we were moved we still had one light out & there was a continuous drowning noise which made it hard to sleep. Would not recommend this hotel & surprised it nets the Best Western standards

I will be back as the hotel was clean, convennient and a good price, Good TV, wireless was acceptable but a little confusing to log on first time. The bed was comfortable and gave a good nights sleep. The reason for marking its condition down is the expereince is a throwback to the 70's, can't remember the last time I came across a PINK bathroom, and the plastic bath felt flimsy underfoot. The carpets in the corridors are worn, badly in places that has been covered with gaffer tape to keep the worn ends down, The internal doors between sections look tired and seem to open awkwardly e.g. you have to go through the R/H side rather than the L/H one as I have found in other hotels. Overall this could be a real gem if some money was pumped in to carry out a phased upgrade of the facility

The staff (in general) was very friendly, except for one man that was not (it looked like he had not slept very well, and was not keen on helping us) . The main issue was the noise. We had a room in front (literally 2 meters, I am not exaggerating) where a wedding party was being celebrated. There was live music, and a lot of noise and voices. It was like been at the party ourselves. Neither us or our kids could sleep until very late at night (after 1:30 a.m., the wedding party noise starting around 7 p.m.). In addition, the door was open most of the time (until I requested twice that it should be closed it), and kids and people from the party were running in the corridor yelling and laughing. We requested another room, but we were told it was fully booked. While I can understand that the hotel could be fully booked, why did they allow that room to be booked in first place, knowing that a wedding party was going to take place and that my family was arriving at night and with kids. This is unacceptable and not a good customer service. Besides that, the food was OK and again, the staff at the restaurant were very friendly. The pool area was dated and needs a revamp, but it was OK for a one night stay.

Overall not a bad stay. The hotel have heavily focused the refurb effects on the public areas. Nice floors but sadly where the refurbs seems to have stopped. The rooms haven't had any money spent on them since the 90s atleast. Plaster on the ceilings coming away. Paint peeling off. Very tired and outdated. No USB ports anywhere. Shower had no pressure control so it was either nothing or blasting a hole in your back. Didn't bother trying the bath. Bed comfortable.

Fantastic hotel for a little weekend get away. Arrived and the reception staff where extremely helpful and happy to help. Room was a good size for a family of 4. Leisure staff where very friendly and also happy to help, pools where brilliant and not too busy. Food was really good, special thank you to Adam who was very welcoming but also reassuring as I have a special dietary request being Gluten free, Adam really went out his way to ensure everything was safe, thank you! Lots of walks and sights around Frodsham, enjoyed it!

That aside the leisure facilities are perfect for a short break and the hotel offers a great location for exploring the area. The restaurant has been updated and has a lovely view, the food was pricey but delicious.

This place needs a revamp. The pool facilities aren't great, the sauna wasn't working the staff were a little rude and at 2am they checked in a couple who talked loudly allllll night into the room next door to me when there were lots of empty rooms. I had to call reception who came and spoke to them which did nothing to solve it. I had a terrible sleep and almost fell asleep driving the next day. Raised a complaint.. was offered nothing except an apology. Psh..

I have stayed here a few times now and I really like it. Usually staff are very polite and friendly but when I checked in last night the woman behind the desk literally ignored me for 3 minutes! She was working on something which I understand but a quick - I will be with you inn a minute would have done but nothing, not even eye contact. When she did manage to speak, no apology and said can you speak to one of the others, is there a man around the corner!! Disgraceful. A young chap eventually checked me in and he was very good but as for the woman…I’m not sure a customer facing role is for you.

The hotel is clean and comfortable and most of the staff are pleasant and helpful. The hotel interiors are dated and tired so is in need of a refurbishment. We chose the hotel as it is pet friendly and we had our 5 year old Cocker Spaniel with us. We had a pleasant stay until breakfast. We entered the restaurant with our dog in open view of all the staff. We were told to sit wherever we would like in the restaurant so we sat at a table with our dog. We had a nice breakfast which we had mostly finished when the restaurant manager shouted in an abrupt manner across the restaurant that dog’s weren’t allowed in and we had to go to the lounge. We felt put out by this a it would only have needed a quite polite word to ask us to retire to the lounge. We would not have minded sitting outside the restaurant to have breakfast if requested when we entered but were welcomed with our dog.

I have stayed at this hotel three times over the last month, and will be staying again over the next couple of months. The hotel is in a nice location surrounded by countryside and is very quiet, the leisure facilities are excellent as are the dining options, but best of all it’s the staff who make this hotel well worth the visit, all staff are welcoming and helpful and are always available if you need anything, and a special mention to Olivia the young lady who works in the bar and grill of an evening, she is always smiling and happy, she literally never stops, constantly making sure guests and patrons have everything they want, a lovely hotel with lovely staff.

I stayed for one night on a business trip. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning. My room was next to the pool plant room and boiling hot. Location though is great, the nature area was amazing to go running in and made the stay really worthwhile

Lovely peaceful dog friendly hotel ( doggies even got a welcome pack) with amazing views, walks and helpful staff. There are no local amenities though and you need to drive for alternative dining etc. Very restful at a stressful time

The hotel is a little tired, stained carpets, faulty blinds, windows that don't seal correctly but, nevertheless, it's the best hotel in the area. Pleased to hear they are extending their rather limited food menu in the future.

Very run-down place. Bathrooms were old and tacky. The restaurant floor was sticky and smelled weird. The food was great, although, during breakfast the plates were dirty and the cutlery also.

only a one night stay but really friendly staff, excellent size standard bedroom, comfy as well. Evening meals were excellent and well presented. Buffet breakfast was usual hotel fayre but there was plenty of choice and we particularly liked the Danish pastries, let down slightly by cold plates and only one hot drink machine

Absolutely disgusted to say the least. Grumpy girl at front desk to start things off. We’re told restaurant closed at 9pm so we went in at 8:15, needing a meal having left ireland at 4am, to be told by the restaurant manager that the chef had been sent home as it was quiet! Told we could order off the sides/snack menu so opted for the homemade pizza. This was not home made but something from the cheap aisle in a supermarket. The toppings and cheese literally slid off the base it was that bad. To make matters worse I spent the next 3 hours throwing up due to the taste of it in the 1970’s bathroom. There was black mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, cracks in the mirror and grey heavy duty tape holding the carpet together. The hotel needs a total revamp and I would say the staff need to be included in that too.

Lovely terrace for drinks on a sunny day. A real mix in quality and record of the rooms. 2 of us had pretty tun down rooms with bathrooms in serious need of an overhaul and the others had decent enough rooms. New management in place who will take their time to bring the whole thing up a notch. The staff were fantastic

If you book through hotels.com then you must pay a large amount on top to use the pool etc that they advertise as Included. Hotel couldn’t care less about that. Housekeeping didn’t change the bed once during our 3 day stay. Heating stuck on during hot weather and offered a small cheap fan as a fix. Room key failed every evening so had to keep getting a new one. Nice location to visit local attractions
