American Inn North Kansas City

Photos on Expedia are not of property, pool closed since it needed to be shocked, there is no hair dryer without deposit, and check in has bullet proof glass— it was close to down town but not in a good area and was disappointed. No free toiletries and internet was very slow.

They said they had a bar there. Well after I already paid for the room . I was expecting a bar and coffee all day when needed. Well that didn’t happen either. The room I was given “STUNK” also. Other than that I had a nice stay. It was quieter than most motels I’ve been at.

The front desk clerk was super friendly. The pool was great. the property is just getting old and while the room was clean you can tell it’s old.

The staff were very helpful! I wouldn’t stay here again though. You get what you pay for sometimes. The worst aspect for me was the smell. There was a pretty strong cigarette smell around the whole place, and though my room wasn’t as bad, it still had the smell to a degree. The pool was odd too, it was deep with rounded sides, so it was awkward to stand in, or get in and out of. There’s a shallow end though! The kids who were there seemed to have a lot of fun.

It was a nice room however the lock thingy was broken, the faucet in the sink was broken and the water in the tub didn't want to go down

Unfortunately there was a storm that came through and thebpool was unavailable.

My guest was treated poorly by the staff when using the laundry room. He was approached in a negative manner for no reason. It was worked out but unacceptable

I don’t object to people smoking it, outside, but the smell in the hall was overwhelming. Especially since I’m very allergic & struggled with congestion & a couple of asthma attacks. The dresser drawers are off track and couldn’t open two, but that’s not a big deal to us.

Black Mold in ceiling of shower, burnt bulbs in bathroom lights, smoke free area in hallways had smoke smell & need new carpeting

This is where the pan handlers stay. Lots of homeless in the area. Staff was very dismissive behind their bulletproof glass. The entire property was filthy. Comforter was discusting & old. This place needs to be bulldozed.

Staff were great but the pot smell in the lobby and halls was so strong it was hard to breathe. The room was fine and the bed and pillows very nice. The grout in the bathroom was dirty and molded sround the tub. They rent out rooms by the month so prople are living.there and roam the halls.in bathrobes. I won't stay here again. .

The bed was popping springs and the chair had years of built up grime. The toilet wasn't achored corretly. The carpet and walls need to be cleaned.

When we went into the room, there were flies, dirty socks, popcorn kernels on the floor and a roach in the tub. We asked to switch rooms, but the other room wasn’t much better and still dirty. Both rooms had burn holes in the bedding and curtains. Management had attitude and gave me the run around. Worst experience ever.

The room is bigger then other places in this area. Not sure if shampoo and conditioner is supplied here, but there's none in my room. No major complaints here.

A quick and easy stay. Don’t know if I’d stay again unless I was in that specific area. Walls are SO incredibly thin I could hear the couple in the next room doing private activities. No conditioner which was a bummer but not the end of the world. Hallways smelled heavily of smoke even though we were in a non smoking room. Wish there were more outlets, had to use my portable charger. Also no hairdryer, again not the end of the world but definitely a bummer when I needed one. Absolutely loved the king bed though and the room was clean! ◡̈

Great low cost stay. You get what you expect at a grrat price. Only issue was kids / family next door to us that were very loud eay into the night. A little older place, but it was pretty clean and the staff were very nice, helpful, and accommodating. No breakfast as was said on website.

Clean, quiet room, good ac, clean, bathroom

Was looking for affordable hotel and American inn seemed like a decent solution. The hotel is located at a busy highway intersection, so a bit noisy, especially the window didn't fully close. This seems to be a hotel where people that lost housing come to stay, so make sure you're comfortable with that.

The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable.

It was okay for a quick overnight stay. The bed was soft. However, it was dated and not as clean as I would like.

price was reasonable and location good for my plans, but room was a little drab, old carpet, smoke smell in halls. bathroom was clean.

This hotel stay was great ! It was very quiet over night which allowed good sleeping for our family of 7 !! The wi-fi wasnt the best . We did not get time to experience the pool , but it looked nice ! The staff at the front desk were very friendly !! Location was great ! Very close to worlds of fun and jack stacks bbq. Kc chiefs stadium was close to about 20 min away. We had a good stay at this location.

I did not stay in this hotel. The outside looked extremely run down, but I paid for a budget hotel and that’s part of the deal sometimes. I went inside and the lobby seemed nice enough. And then, I got to the room. It was filthy! There were stains on the bedding, the chairs looked disgusting, one wall had stains all down one portion, the room had very obviously not even been somewhat cleaned beyond “straightening” the bed. I did not feel comfortable staying in that type of room and within thirty minutes I had left. The staff seemed concerned and stated that they would refund if possible, but since I had booked through Expedia I would need to go through them for the refund. I did, and the answer I received was that the management at the location would not approve the refund so they couldn’t do anything. I understand this is a budget location, but I have stayed in many of those before and I have always gotten a clean room. This was extremely disappointing all around to say the least.

Clean rooms good customer service

The people at the front desk were very kind and helpful. Getting to my room was a little confusing do to the numbers on the signs, but I found it after driving around three times and stopping back by the front desk

It was one of the worst hotel/motel stays I've ever endured. The rooms were dirty, the floors were unvacuumed for the entire eight days we stayed. There was no routine towel/linen service. There was NO waste basket in the room. I repeatedly asked for one and 6 days into an 8 day stay, they finally provided one. The security door was broken and folks could enter the rear of the property with complete access. The table/desk in the room had no chair. I asked for one, and it took 2 days for them to finally provide one. When I went to the desk at the third day, the woman attender said you have to ask the housekeeping person for any towels, personally and if you don't run into them you can't receive clean towels. The hallways smell of a mix of pot and Clorox, and the shouting and screaming in the nearby rooms was outlandish. They sounded like domestic violence, but it was terrible. The coffee at the desk, was limited and ran out quickly. The pub and lounge that was advertised, is closed. It's storage space. None of the amenities were as advertised. There were no hangers in the closet. We bought some at the nearby dollar store. We had to buy our own TOILET paper, during the stay, because the staff would not assist in any of our routine, reasonable requests. This is a horrible, horrible place and should be removed from the Expedia listings.

We really liked the proximity to everything we wanted to do. The room was clean and we were at the far end which made it pretty quiet for our evening.

Easy check-in and check-out. The price was good and the location was good to drive to places around Kansas City. I bring my own toiletries but if you don’t you should bring shampoo because only soap given.

Close to many places

A perfectly fine place to stay. Not too fancy, but convenient to downtown and North KC is a short walk away.

Right by a chinese buffet, that was nice.

It was close to many restaurants and the Iron District. It’s an older building but there was hot water, clean towels, a refrigerator, comfortable bed and plenty of channels for watching tv.
