This is a "resort", not just a 'hotel'. So be aware of what you're paying for. We had booked a king room with water view at $600/night. On arrival they had 'upgraded' us to the old 'stone building' separate from the hotel. The stone building ground floor is for banquets, and the entry 'lobby' for the four upstairs hotel rooms had to pass through an ugly, unmasked staging area for the banquet room. (photo). Also housekeeping made the bed with the comforter label in the face of the sleeper. (photo). This might have been a romantic retreat for a honeymooning couple at $800/night, but for us was detached from the property's amenities. (e.g., we were provided with a Keurig machine with only two K-cups for regular coffee, and a coffeemaker with NO regular coffee pouches. And we were 50 yards from the hotel proper). For this price, breakfast should have been included, but instead was $20+ in the restaurant. It's not walkable to Bar Harbor. We were rarely on the property, since we were there to explore Acadia. Bottom line --- Don't pay this high price to stay here unless you want to hang out for the pool, spa, workout room, and tennis courts. Interestingly, reception staff was unsympathetic to our 'constructive criticism' comments.

The staff is amazing!!!! The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations are perfect. We were on the 4th floor with a beautiful ocean view. The location is great too!! Only a short drive (maybe 5 minutes) to AcadiaI National Park. Also a very short drive to the downtown area. We were traveling with our very expensive bicycles and we felt comfortable leaving them on the back of our vehicle. Of course they were locked and covered but we normally will not leave them unattended, period. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. The only complaint or issue we had was the extremely slow bar experience and the fact that despite multiple empty tables, we waited 45 minutes to be seated for a meal. However, once seated, the weight staff was excellent.

Property beautiful, staff mostly helpful but the ac/heater unit broke the third night and I reported it. Notified receptionist the maintenance called and we agreed upon a time for visit. That evening we came in room and temp was 66 degrees….. called front desk again. Maintenance came at 8:00, not able to restore heat. Upon leaving next day I requested a twenty percent discount for those two nights and they would only give ten percent. That is my summary.
