We had a good time and the building is effectively spectacular. It feels a bit like an Airbnb, which is not bad per se. But a few touches in the bathroom, like a nice bathtub soap or salts, or a welcome drink would have made all the difference. I sent two messages when I booked to ask for info about parking and they never replied. We were offered breakfast without any explanation (other than the extra cost) and I ended up not being able to eat much because of my diet. When we checked in it was like "yeah you can have a drink around here at the bar but I'm leaving as soon as the last guests arrive so..." I don't know. I know Dutch standards are not really high compared to the rest of Europe but it felt underwhelming.

prachtig boutique hotel in het centrum van leiden en parkeergarage op 1 min lopen. Fantastische kamers, leken als nieuw en super vriendelijk personeel. Een aanrader. Wij hebben alweer gepland voor over een maand.

Parking is €25 for a full day in the garage nearby. Shops and dining (and bike rentals) are walkable easily. Staff is practically nonexistent, which is okay if you don't need them but if you needed things it would likely be difficult. Plan accordingly.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel in a 15th century building in the heart of Leiden. The hotel is in perfect condition, and the staff is very friendly an helpful. The reason that my rating is less than 5, is the absence of an elevator. More senior customers may find it difficult to climb spiral staircases to their rooms. It would be important to mention this in the hotel description.

Very difficult property to get to if you are not familiar with the roadways. Parking is exorbitant. We did self check in as we arrived late and it was very efficient. Our room was on the fourth floor. There is no elevator, which is not a problem however the multiple staircases were winding and very narrow and quite treacherous. We couldn’t take our bags up. We had to put a few items in small bags/backpack and take them. No bottled water - I’m sure it was tap water in a pitcher. The room itself was quite unique and nicely decorated, however it was very dark, even with the lights on. It was very noisy with street noise, constant bells ringing from the church and on the hour. The two women at reception were lovely and did offer to move us to a lower floor but we were only there two nights and didn’t want to move our things. All in all a disappointing stay.

Nice small hotel with friendly staff. Room on ground floor faced street but not much noise. Excellent location for central Leiden. Separate underground parking very short walk.

Great central location within walking distance of all main attractions. Really helpful and friendly staff. Pillows were a little hard and too big for us but that's more our personal preference,. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean, would definitely recommend.

Lovely hotel, great location. Everything you’d need. Nice comfy beds, only wish we could have got some sleep. Very noisy, with people yelling in the street all night and the church next door with full on bells every hour and half hour….yes that’s all the way through the night. At best we’ve managed 6-7 hours of broken sleep over the whole of the two nights we were there. Not really the hotels fault, but there is absolutely no sound proofing, and they do provide ear plugs. Except they don’t tell you about them, so we only found them on the second night. A really small thing, but a niggle when you’ve had no sleep. They didn’t refresh the coffee pods, so we couldn’t get a much needed boost when we crawled out of bed.

Vanwege het wat oude gebouw wel luidruchtig en hoor je heel goed als je bovenburen lopen. Verder echt een uitstekend hotel. Heerlijke bedden, mooie kamers, alles schoon. Perfect!

Unieke verblijfslocatie. Twee minpuntjes. Bij aankomst een gebruikt niet doorgespoeld toilet aangetroffen en er lag een scherf van een wijnglas naast het bed. Hier moeten men toch echt op letten.

Our room was beautiful with three huge windows overlooking the canal. Leiden was a lovely university town with lots of good restaurant options. My husband is a cyclist, and was pleased with the ease of renting an electric bike from Easyfiets and it was easy to navigate the region with the Dutch bike routing system. Perfect temperature for biking and no rain the first week of May! Very kind and helpful staff—especially Anna who cleaned our room!

Location is perfect, and the room was lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was so dark, even during the day, that it was hard to put in my contact lenses and impossible to apply makeup. Water pressure was inadequate and bathroom door squeaked loudly. Request to install battery in non-functional lighted magnifying mirror and to oil squeaky door went unanswered.

Lovely city location- very central with great original features but modern furnishings. Just be aware of some road noise/ people chatter outside windows which are not fully sound proofed. 2 long chairs are too small / uncomfortable to really relax in - a softer would be much better give this was advertised as a ‘suite’.

Prachtig hotel en voortreffelijke ontvangst op een mooie locatie in de stad. Enige probleem was de gehorigheid want de bovenburen waren bijna letterlijk te verstaan en dat wil je niet. Anders had ik een absolute topwaardering gegeven.

The room had beautiful period details which were well restored & true to pictures. A good size bathroom & shower. A very small selection of towels (only just enough) and the small fridge was sometimes noisy (came on & off).

Perfectly situated in the centre of Leiden We arrived a little early and as our room wasn’t ready they quickly gave us an available room which I think was an upgrade Excellent value and customer service

Our experience here was amazing! We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite at no extra charge (and didnʻt even ask for the upgrade!) and the suite was truly luxurious! It is located near the university, right in the middle of the area we wanted to explore, so it was perfect.

Good experience overall, however I somehow overlooked the preparation for self-checkin. That was a bit worrisome when we arrived early but it was sorted out and we gained access within a few minutes. The room was charming and unique!

This is not a hotel. You should remove it from the hotel filter. There is no staff on site after hours. It was chill but it’s aparthotel.

There was a lobby but with limited hours, the receptionist left at 7 PM, so just know that. Lovely room.

Lovely historical property but a bit overpriced. Televisions from neighboring rooms can be heard. Only one key per room, which can be limiting at times considering the front desk has limited hours.

We had a lovely experience stay but there are a few things that could be worked on. Overall it was very nice. The breakfast was delicious and very fresh. it was European style but still very nice. The beds were very comfortable and it was within walking distance of some lovely bars and restaurants. The reception opening hours says 8.00am - 7.00pm but on both days there was no one there at times during the allotted reception time. Yesterday the reception was all locked by 6.30pm. This was one small item but it didn't take away from our overall stay.

prachtig boutique hotel in het centrum van leiden en parkeergarage op 1 min lopen. Fantastische kamers, leken als nieuw en super vriendelijk personeel. Een aanrader. Wij hebben alweer gepland voor over een maand.

Lovely city location- very central with great original features but modern furnishings. Just be aware of some road noise/ people chatter outside windows which are not fully sound proofed. 2 long chairs are too small / uncomfortable to really relax in - a softer would be much better give this was advertised as a ‘suite’.

Nice small hotel with friendly staff. Room on ground floor faced street but not much noise. Excellent location for central Leiden. Separate underground parking very short walk.

Steenhof Suites was a beautiful property. We were in the Presidential Suite as that was the only room left when booking, and it was amazing. Besides having a very large bedroom/living room area, there was a beautiful bathroom and gorgeous modern kitchen. To top it all off, there was a washer and dryer with detergent included! The property was renovated beautifully and had modern furniture which made it interesting in this old building. There isn’t a staff there 24 hours so you do have to give them an idea of when you’re arriving. They also don’t have a kitchen, but breakfast was brought in at the time you requested and was wonderful. I can’t recommend this property highly enough!

Sehr schönes und gut gelegenes Hotel in Leiden. Bequeme Betten, großzügiges Zimmer und wunderbares Badezimmer mit großer Dusche. Alles gut fußläufig erreichbar, sehr guter Supermarkt und auch Gastronomie in direkter Nähe. Kein Frühstücksbüffet. Ausreichendes und schmackhaftes Frühstück wird jedoch gegen Aufpreis angeboten. Wir haben und wohlgefühlt.

Geweldige grote sfeervolle kamer. Ontbijt was goed, maar vooraf vastgesteld, je hebt dus niet veel te kiezen. Aangezien het hotel midden in Leiden staat, zou ik een volgende keer kiezen voor een ontbijt bij 1 van de vele bistro's in de buurt. Verder helemaal tevreden!

The room was great! Really warm, awesome bed and bathroom. The reason for the lower scores was breakfast; breakfast is brought in on a tray from an external supplier. The first day was ok, although it’s obvious the tray had sat for a while. When we went to breakfast we found the room was locked and the delivery guy standing outside in the cold (1c) with our breakfast on the tray. At 09:16 (we had asked for breakfast at 09:00 at check-in) a lady turned up to open the door. The breakfast and room were freezing cold but we were hungry and most places in town don’t open until 10am so ate up! There was no apology or explanation offered. So overall, great hotel but I’d recommend you skip breakfast.

Rigtig hyggeligt sted. Nemt at gå til fra p huset. Ligger perfekt i forhold til centrum men stadig afsides så ikke meget larm om aftenen, natten. Man skal være parat til trappen hvis man får værelse på andet end i stuen. Det negative er at det er utroligt lydt. Vi kunne høre overboens alarm, når de gik rundt, gulvet da det knirker meget højt. Så privatliv er lidt en offentligt begivenhed. Ellers meget dejligt sted. Vil give det 3 stjerner på grund af lydhørheden. Eller var det 4 stjerner værdt.

Hotellet har perfekt läge. Rummet vi bodde i var stort, rent och mycket mysigt. Frukosten var mycket bra i en skön och avslappnad miljö. Detta är 5 stars och vi åker gärna hit igen.

The property is very convenient to the shops and restaurants near the canals in Leiden. Our room was on the first floor, easily accessed with an electronic key. Some street noise was bothersome in the evening. The staff was pleasant but there is no 24 hour reception, so you may have to call if no one is available. Our room was lovely and historic with a very modern bathroom. Overall a good choice for Leiden.
