Nice little motel. Super friendly staff. Dated furniture , except for big, big TV. Clean, just drive up to your room and simply unload. Has fridge, microwave and Fast WiFi. Good price. Will stay here again.

I’m female traveling with my dog and wanted someplace SAFE AND CLEAN. And affordable- I don’t much care about aesthetics anymore. South Wind Inn is exactly that. The couple that runs it is extremely friendly and accommodating. The ice machine was very convenient and has all the ice you could need. I dropped ice water on the floor shortly after I went into the room and when I wiped it up with a white paper towel, the paper towel was still white when I finished. I like that kind of clean. I don’t care that the nightstand is from the 80s. And I loved the soft cotton mint green sheets! Very comfortable bed also…

Super clean. It was very comfortable with everything I needed for a night's stay. The family that runs it was genuinely friendly and helpful and seemed to really care that I had everything I needed. A couple of good restaurants within walking distance made it very convenient. I highly recommend.

Room was not cleaned properly and AC wasn’t cold enough. You pay for what you get, went based off other reviews but definitely not a clean place to stay. Ended up moving to año hotel.

Looks like a typical “motel” on the outside but it has been updated on the inside. The bed was very comfortable but way too high. I am pretty short and it wasn’t easy to get in. I do wish they had in room coffee.

This was an interesting experience. The property is quite old and there needs to be some significant investment to make it something that would be considered updated by today's standards. It's an old motel so you park right outside of your room. I've been on the road for about 6 weeks now all over the country and I'm starting to like that feature. As far as what happens once you get to your room, everything is fine. The bed was comfortable, the A/C was great, the bathroom was clean and the internet connection was stable and quick. No complaints for what they can control on an operational level. It does need to be updated, though. Many won't like how old it is.

From check-in with a jovial host, to check-out from a smiling, eager staff, this was an unexpectedly nice stop on our long journey home. It is an older property but you can see they work hard to keep it nice. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a very pleasant night's sleep. This is well worth stopping at for the night. Great value for the money.

Yes, the room was a bit worn and dated BUT it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The wi-fi was faster than my wi-fi at home. I asked for quiet and I got quiet. When I struggled with my room key (I always struggle with those scan things!), I looked up and the owner/husband (I think) ran right over to help me. And I really appreciated having a fan too!

But this year going back there was a sub clerk at the front desk who looked over our reservation for 2 queen bed room and first tried to put us in a single bed room and then moved us to 2 bed room but a short elder person like myself could not get on the very high bed without getting a boost from a chair! That was not a problem when we last stayed there 2 and 3 yrs ago.

When I first checked in I was downgraded from a king room that I booked to a queen, “because I was by myself” according to the clerk that checked me in. The room was old with cracked walls. It was barely big enough to house the queen bed and a small table. The bathroom was tiny and had a small stand up shower. The shower leaked into the wall area and the tile was separated from the floor. There was no hot water when I woke up the first morning there. I took a cold shower. When I got back into the room that evening the water was hot so I took a shower that night just in case the hot water didn’t work the next morning. Sure enough… the next morning the water was cold again. Do they turn off the hot water heaters at night?? All in all a miserable experience and I would just as soon pop a tent in a campground with an out house as stay in this hotel again.

You get what you pay for, and although it was mostly clean, it needed basic upkeep and maintenance. My complaint was that housekeeping knocked in the door at 8:30am on a Saturday!!!! We checked in with a dog and the desk person asked if our dog was smelly or dirty, before she would give us the room we had prepaid for. Seemed silly.

The property staff didn’t seem to know that I had changed my reservation, even though I called once and texted once to confirm before I arrived. In the end, everything worked out and we stayed for the 2 nights we needed. Beds were comfortable though.

Was quoted a fair price up front, paid online and was non refundable. The description said they were pet friendly but didn’t mention any extra charges. When I arrived I was told it would an extra $20 for 2 small dogs. I was looking at another hotel that didn’t charge for pets but I wasn’t able to cancel and go to the other place since I already paid. They weren’t about to make things right because they knew I was stuck and wanted my money. The final charges should have been disclosed up front, especially since it was non refundable. Won’t be back, too deceptive and poor service. The place is kind of dumpy.

YES YES YES!!! I’m road tripping across the country with my son and we were so lucky to find Southwind! Excellent all around, plus it’s close to Dorothy’s House. The owner Bob is kind and has created an awesome place for travelers like us. You’ll regret not staying here - I promise!

We were happy with our overnight stay at the South Wind Inn. It was clean, safe, and pretty quiet considering it was on the main highway through town. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the area was safe. It checked all the boxes for our needs. It is a stone's throw from Dorothy's house from the Wizard of Oz, for those that are into that kind of thing.

The unique and quirky nature of the rooms was kind of fun, and the price was affordable. Everything worked in terms of appliances and fixtures, and it was all spotless. The proprietor (I'm guessing) made check-in pretty easy, but he must have asked me at least six times in the space of three minutes if we had any dogs or cats with us (we didn't). And the free breakfast consisted of some coffee, hot water for tea, and a couple of pastries, so if you are a breakfast person, try the Pancake House across the street. The property is probably around 60-70 years old, and even though it's been kept up, it's tangibly aging. If you are looking for sleek and modern, look elsewhere, but for a safe, clean place to spend a night on the road, it's a good value.

And the free breakfast consisted of some coffee, hot water for tea, and a couple of pastries, so if you are a breakfast person, try the Pancake House across the street. The property is probably around 60-70 years old, and even though it's been kept up, it's tangibly aging. If you are looking for sleek and modern, look elsewhere, but for a safe, clean place to spend a night on the road, it's a good value.

the south wind was an ok hotel. it was clean and the beds comfy. it really needs updating. the woman at the front desk was reluctant to give us a couple of extra towels but there were 3 woman staying in the room and we need extra towels. (the towels were very thin). the price was low which was a plus. no breakfast served. probably wouldn't stay again.

Lack of breakfast was disappointing, but the room was comfortable and nice. The bed was one of the most comfortable. Friendly staff.

Looks like a typical “motel” on the outside but it has been updated on the inside. The bed was very comfortable but way too high. I am pretty short and it wasn’t easy to get in. I do wish they had in room coffee.

The rooms were very clean and the beds were the most comfortable of the entire trip. There is no air conditioner or Wifi, but it wasn't needed for our one-night stay. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. A coffee maker would be most welcome! The owners were very friendly and helpful. When a clean, comfortable, basic room is what you're looking for, this is perfect! We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

The motel room was large and clean and nicely furnished. The management and staff were very kind and efficient. There's an excellent pancake house right across the street for breakfast.

The staff were super polite and helpful after a long day on the road. Check in was easy and the room was clean, beds comfortable, and had modern amenities for a roadside motel such as lots of working charging ports for USB, regular electrical outlets, television, and cold air conditioning. Compared to other roadside motels this trip, the South Wind Inn was the best of the bunch. I enjoyed my stay. Neither the kids or my wife had anything negative to say which says a lot on its own lol. If I find myself in Liberal KS again, I would stay here again no question.

The room was a nice size. Air conditioning was the best thing; it was blowing cold air around the room and there was also a table fan which was nice. It was super quite but the blinds weren't blackout, so you have some light coming inside the room. The bed was comfortable and there was a table to eat on with 2 chairs.
