The Sunset Motel

👍Convienent to downtown and close to pictured rocks. Would stay there again. Office was very quick and accomondating 👎Parking for upstairs rooms. We were in the upstairs room and had to park half way down to the other end and carry our bags back. Second night, no parking spot at all. First spots should be designated for the upstairs rooms. Maybe all should be designated. Just a thought.

Very cute, well maintained motel right on the water. Nice kitchenette. Nice, helpful stadf. Beautiful sunsets.

Old time hospitality. Property is dated but everything you need to be comfortable. Close to Pictured Rocks National Park trails and beach. Loved having a small kitchenette and sofa separated from the bedroom. Nice floor plan. This will be my choice if I get back to Munising.

Cabin was cool, was nice having full kitchen, beds were kinda uncomfortable, but its a goegeous location on superior on the bay, super close to pictured rocks.

We had the suite with a private balcony. Having the balcony was a lovely addition, but make a person must climb stairs with their luggage, so be prepared for that. There is a lovely green space on the shore to enjoy the view or even picnic. The “breakfast” is a snack, so if you are hungry in the morning and looking for a hearty breakfast it’s not here. The internet was the best we’ve had on our entire trip! All in all we were pleased with our stay.

Absolutely amazing. We got the room with the private balcony and it was great. We liked we that we were able to be outside but be private as well. Beautiful views, and the friendliest staff.

Motel is a little dated but clean and comfortable. The biggest win for this property was that every room had access to a back balcony with amazing lake views. In addition, there is a large well manicured back lawn with a variety of lawn furniture to lounge in. We took advantage of this a couple of nights to enjoy spectacular sunsets.

3 night stay to be close to Picture Rock… The staff make this motel! Friendly and helpful. Motel is very dated but comfy. Like microwave and refrig in room. Plenty of parking. Construction makes finding this a challenge. Definitely the highlight to this motel is being right on the lake!! Lots of seating, BBQ grills and the sunsets don’t disappoint. I’d come back.

The rooi felt itself was very outdated but clean. The steps to our room were dangerous and definitely needed maintenance- no lighting on them whatsoever.

View is amazing. Room 220-222 are the best. Room 222 great. The loveseat is old but comfortable. Kitchen nice. Decided to stay 2nd night had to change rooms. 114 eh it’s okay. View is awesome until everyone parks to block the view. Nice lawn area with chairs.at lake side. Super quiet.

The view of Lake Superior is amazing. The staff were nice. The motel is old. Our room smelled musty and the bathroom smelled like urine. The wall and ceiling near the shower was coming apart. The AC unit fan and bathroom fan had built up greasy dust on them.

The room was filthy. We decided not to stay after viewing the room and found a different hotel to stay at.

The room was small and musty smell. The carpet was damp and it was not as pictured on their website. We had people on the porch outside our unit who drank and talked and laughed well pat 11 p.m. and we could hear them which kept us awake. There were no coffee filters and the kitchen was not well stocked The price was way too much for the quality

This is an old motel, which has not been updated in any way. There was mold around the tub and shower, the king-size bed had queen-size sheets on it that didn't fit and slipped all over the place, the carpet was filthy, the A/C unit was incredibly old and loud. The "breakfast" consisted of pre-packaged rolls. There was a coffeemaker in the room but there was no coffee filter so we couldn't even make coffee. This entire experience was incredibly disappointing.

Yes the room was very clean, and the staff was good and very informative off the area. The parks were close also.

Beautiful location. Wonderful to have a direct walk out. The room was not up to code, the bathroom was not clean with mold in the tub. Unfortunately, not well maintained. Tons of potential but, past its prime.

The hotel grounds and scenery were excellent. The staff was friendly. The shower never got more than luke warm, the shower curtain was covered with mold and mildew. The only room decor was two small mirrors above the bed, in the middle of the night the mirror above me fell and hit me on the head. I was ok, but the mirror was just sitting on the head board with some putty holding it in place. I should’ve demanded my money back because that could’ve ended differently if that glass in the frame had broke, but the young girl at the front desk didn’t deserve to be yelled at. If not for the nice staff and beautiful location, I would have left one star.

One of the most incredible views! So nice and peaceful right on the bay. The rooms are small and cramped, but relatively comfortable over all. Pricey for the lack of amenities.

My husband if 6’6” & bedroom & bathroom felt too small. Couch was dated & worn. Bed was soft. Clean room, nice kitchen with great views. Friendly staff.

Only thing I’d say is that the bathrooms need a good overhaul. Way too small.

Loved the view from the balcony! There was lots of room with the large bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living area.

Three of us came up and stayed three nights in one of the "kitchen" rooms. We were not told ahead of time that there was road construction, so we were surprised that we had to drive all the way to Wetmore just to get back into downtown Munising. It added a lot of extra driving to our trip. That was disappointing. We paid a little more for the kitchen room, so we expected to have more space. However, everything seemed to be tiny. The "couch" was a loveseat, the kitchen was very tiny (room for one person to stand by refrigerator). There were only two barstools even though three of us were staying there. The beds were said to be "queen" but they were full sized. The toilet in the bathroom did not flush well. There were hardly ever people working in the motel during the day. They did not come in to change our garbage. We had to ask for coffee filters, and the people working in the office were kind of rude (except for the gentleman when we checked in). We had to ask for more toilet paper. We were not told that our room was going to be on the second floor. There is no elevator and pretty rickety stairs. One of my sisters has a back problem, so this was concerning. The best part of our stay was definitely the beautiful view. If you stay here, you need to know that it is very simple accommodations.

It was…ok at best. The room with 2 beds was clearly not meant to have 2 beds; cheap partition walls had been put up to divide the space into 2 separate bedrooms, leaving a bathroom that was extremely narrow (think bathtub plus about 15 extra inches wide) and could only be accessed by going through the 2nd room. The bathroom was not in great condition; the grout around the tub needed to be replaced a decade ago, the toilet was loose on the floor, and the trim work was unpainted. The effect was as if at the end of the “chop up the room” project the owners either ran out of money or said “Aaah, good enough.” The beds were ok and I think overall everything was probably clean but the presentation left a lot to be desired. Breakfast was “the morning desk person will make some coffee and put out some danishes”; we opted to eat some food we had brought for snacks instead so don’t know about the quality of what they offered. The very early birds next to us packed up and took items out to their car one at a time apparently, taking the opportunity to let the door slam shut EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. After probably 20 slams in the darkness of early morning, we gave up on further sleeping and got up. Not the motel’s fault of course, just a friendly reminder to fellow travelers to be considerate of other people when getting up before the sun does. The view was pretty but we would choose a different place to stay if ever in that neck of the woods again. Maybe the single bed rooms are better?

Invest some money into improving the rooms. The bed I slept in leaned to the side, and the couch bed had such a dent n the mattress that it was more comfortable to just sleep on the couch.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The view was nice and there's plenty of chairs by the breakwater to sit and watch the sunset. Mattress was comfortable but the pillows were flat and pretty terrible. The room had an old range and a small fridge and sink. The bathroom was clean-ish but the whole room was outdated, run down and gross. The pans and utensils were pretty disgusting as well. I guess I expected more from a room that was $300+ per night. Wouldn't stay here again.

The staff was exceptional. Unit easily accessible and beautiful view of the lake. Very clean and accommodating.

The motel was on a lake shore and very quiet. The property condition was terrible. My brother started coughing from dust and the curtain rod fell on my mother’s shoulder. The worst part was the staff who rudely replied that you should leave if you are not happy.

It was amazing!!! The views were gorgeous. The check in was smooth and i loved the dinner recommendations and how helpful she was by answering all my questions and even providing a map of the lical area. This truly was a pleasure staying here. Will definitely be back and recommending it.

The gentleman who checked us in was exceptionally nice and took time to tell us all about the area and restaurants we could go to. He made us feel very welcomed.

Wonderful little gem on Munising Bay. Property right on the bay with sitting areas at the water, 3 rooms had balconies. Close to cruise pictured rocks, go to hikes, waterfalls. Also close to downtown Munising eats n shopping. (5 minutes).No real breakfast, just continental danish n coffee.

Loved the view, right on the bay to enjoy the sunset!!! The rooms were outdated, had mismatched furniture, bed was uncomfortable, breakfast was pastries (dry) and coffee, shower unit had jagged edges where something had broken off, chairs outside of room were bent. Basically, needs an overall remodel. If this happened would be prime hotel!! Staff was very friendly with easy check-in and check-out process.

Great place for the price and very close to Lake Superior and pictured rock cruise.

I travel a lot and although this is not a big name brand hotel I found this little motel 50 feet from Lake superior Shoreline an excellent place for a base camp location to explore pictured rock national Shoreline. We selected the double queen bedroom with the kitchen living area combo. The only downfall which is not the motels fault was the bridge which takes you back into town was being reconstructed thus far the road leading you back to town turned into a 20 minute car ride rather than 1 minute car ride. I would definitely stay at this motel again.

The motel is cute, a little dated but clean and fit our needs. The best part is the location right on Munising bay with a view of the town. They have chairs by the water to sit, relax and take in the view.

Property meets essential needs for sleep and amenities. Can’t really call their breakfast anything but light continental. Great location if you are going to the park. Beautiful sunsets.

The room had a fairly strong unpleasant odor. The sheets were questionable. The host was very nice and friendly. Maybe they are short staffed. I wish I could say it was great because so many of the small places are struggling. But for the price it should have been much cleaner. It was very peaceful and on the water. The free breakfast was also lacking. The pastries seemed like they had been around for a while too long. I hope they are able to make some small improvements and be successful.

The location of the motel is amazing. Nice seating area outside looking west to the sunset The room was musty smelling, the sink was cracked, carpet needed cleaning, no mattress pad on the mattress and window air conditioner did not work Breakfast is a strong word for what was served; weak coffee, pre-packaged danishes and little yogurt cups

Room was okay, outdated and things were not cleaned as they should have been. Coffee grounds still in the coffee pot ect. "free breakfast" was coffee and packaged Danishes. The second day they were out of coffee by 9 am. Good location.

We spent just one night here to break up the number of traveling hours on the road. Heading to the Keweenaw peninsula. This seems like an older motel but we were surprised at how clean the room was and how comfortable everything was. We had a room upstairs right over the office with a private balcony. That was a little difficult to keep going up and down to take our 2 dogs out. (No elevator) But it was very peaceful, the view of the bay was beautiful. Overall a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was a bit sparse for the over $200 price for a room. Only coffee, prepackaged cinnamon rolls yogurt and juice. But I guess it was enough to call it breakfast. Other rooms had kitchenettes but we didn’t need that. We did had a king bed a refrigerator and a microwave. Would definitely stay here again

The location of the property on Lake Superior is very nice. The hotel itself needs work. It is very dated. They advertise breakfast but don’t actually serve it. I would not stay there again.
