The carpeting was dirty, there was mold above the shower and there were not enough electrical outlets in the room. The stairwells were steep and narrow and for someone in their 70’s trying to carry their luggage up the stairs was difficult..

This hotel was recommended to me by someone who stayed years ago. It has new owners. The hotel is beautiful. It has so much old school beauty. However, the staff does not speak English very well. It is very hard to get any information out of them. There are no elevators, which needs to be known. We took my husband’s parents and his dad needs a knee replacement and is scheduled for after our trip. There was no one to help with bags. We were out on the third floor, which is fine. But we were on a 14 day trip and had to carry every single bag up the stairs. When I say stairs I mean old school stairs that are straight up and very thin. It was a terrible stay for us. The available help was non existent. They weren’t helpful. They never offered any help even after watching my husband and I carry 40# bags up three flights of stairs. There are no walkable good food options. Also, the amount of t of homeless people in the area is kind of scary. We don’t live in a bubble so we are very familiar with homeless. We have no issues with them at all. But we are talking drug addicted homeless and there is no security,no help. I would never ever stay here again. It’s sad because the building has so much history.

Checked in around 7:30 and asked about where we could have dinner. The clerk just said to go along the adjacent street. Not much there. Settled for bad pizza across the street. It’s not in the best part of town. The room was pretty run down. The carpet was hideous. They had a really powerful cheap smelling air freshener somewhere. It was so bad I could hardly breathe. The breakfast was really bad. The coffee was like dishwater. I gave up and found a coffee shop.

Our room and bathroom were clean, and I always appreciate complimentary coffee & breakfast, so this checked off the boxes we needed. Parking was a bit confusing, but complimentary as well. For those curious: our bathroom was detached & down the hall, which was honestly not a big deal (once I found it). Towels were provided just like if the room was attached, but there was no vent fan and you obviously can't leave the door open since it's spilling out into the hallway, so the bathroom got very stuffy & humid after a shower.
