I was very disappointed that the bar was closed and there was no fine dining on offer. The room was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were very nice. The staff were great. I loved staying at the Driskill but was disappointed by the lack of amenities.

Interesting historical property with beautiful paintings and excellent bar. However, no parking. Had to park in a public parking garage a block away. Entry in the garage was on the left side like in England which was weurd and dangerous.

Staff was friendly and check in was easy and quick. Valet parking is pricey at $55 but the valet team did a great job at bringing your vehicle in a timely manner.

First of all this property is an older hotel. Absolutely gorgeous wood/stain glass throughout. Lively fun bar. Negatives are our 4 rooms need to be updated. Workout room needs allot of attention for the size of this property. Two out of the three treadmills weren't working, and dated equipment. The maids left dirty dishes twice in my room. Other than that the staff was extremely friendly. Katie and Jake at the front were very accommodating. 👍 Food in the bar/restaurants were delicious. Will stay again if the rooms get a little up do.

Elegant, historic property. Even with renovations, the plumbing and elevators are a little slow for the times. But if you can live with that, this place is charming with great history and great service.

The dust ruffle on the bed had brown splatter all on on side of the bed that we had slept on. I brought it up to the front desk and they knew about some beds having that on the side of the beds. They stated it was rust stains. I do t think it was.

The hotel is beautiful and stunning in the common areas and the room was fine, but had paint chipping and fairly extensive cosmetic damage, but the biggest issue for me was paper thin doors and walls that allowed me to wake up to every door opening and closing in the hall and every sound of my neighbors

It was very welcoming waking in with beautiful Christmas decorations. All of the staff was friendly and attentive. Our corner king suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The double sinks were also a nice plus.

Check in was a nightmare. They told me the room wasn’t ready, but they gave rooms to the next 15 people while I sat there for 2 hours! Just reassign me to a room that was ready - I just needed a room with 2 double beds No maid service was provided - glad I was only thefe 2 nights

Beautiful hotel. Bathroom odd layout. Blow dryer was very old and hardly working. Both room and bathroom were very clean. Great historic hotel. While restaurant is closed, grill was great for full or continental breakfast.

We stayed in the historic section of the hotel and it was great. Lovely Victorian architecture but updated with modern plumbing, HVAC, electrical etc. The room was large enough, comfortable and the bed was very nice. All the staff we interacted with were very helpful and went out of their way to give us suggestions of what to see and do in downtown Austin. Especially helpful was Emily at the front desk and Timothy the valet manager. The location is perfect for walking to most of Austin’s downtown sights, bars, and restaurants. A very nice stay and would definitely use the Driscoll again as our headquarters in a visit to Austin.

Great stay and great staff. We would definitely stay again if we ever in Austin. The only reason I’m not giving a 5 start overall, is due to the wifi. At least on the room we stayed in, it would connect and disconnected constantly. Eventually we just used our phone hotspots to get things done in our laptop or IPad.

Great hotel! Great location! Beautiful hotel. The hotel has a lot of history. The room was spacious and comfortable. Nice size bathroom. The only negative was the sink didn’t have any counter space, but a table with shelves was in the bathroom which did help for toiletries. Would stay there again.

Internet service was abysmal so we couldn’t work. Room service did not offer dessert after we came up from the lounge. Only more booze. Seems more like the Driscoll has fallen to a 3 star hotel after Hyatt took over the property. Miss the old vibe.

The room layout is horrible. Door opens directly to the bed. The light around the door from the hallway lights kept the room bright all night. The noise from the hallway was minimal but loud enough to be annoying late at night.

Staff was A1! Super pleasant, extremely helpful, and genuinely nice — truly made the stay feel welcoming. The hotel itself is historic, which comes with a certain charm (and a bit of a historical scent). They did have a strong fragrance in the hallway near the rooms, which might be lovely to some, but I personally found it overwhelming. I stayed in the petit queen room, which was spacious with high ceilings. However, the windows were frosted, so there was no view or natural light coming in. That detail should really be disclosed ahead of time, especially for guests who might feel claustrophobic. I honestly felt a bit like I was in Flowers in the Attic. The bathroom was visually nice but extremely compact — the corner shower was so small I had to keep turning the water off and on to bathe. The sink was tiny and squeezed into a corner, flanked by two narrow mirrors. Definitely felt more like an RV setup than a hotel bathroom. That said, the bed was okay comfy and the room had both AC and a ceiling fan. Large TV. Overall, I’m giving this place 4 stars. It’s truly a beautiful property with standout staff — just be aware of the quirks that come with a historic hotel.

A few issues with the hotel. Loud annoying and constant music in the common areas and the pool. There was a 40 minute wait to get a table fro breakfast and then another 40 minutes to be served food. Travelling the world for 3 months, we had 3 nights in Austin. One night in a more modern hotel near the river and 2 nights at The Driskill. We chose The Driskill for a traditional Texan atmosphere, and glad we did. Our room was well sized with 2 Queen beds, high ceilings, and an entranceway. We had no view…but the room was quiet and off the street. The bathroom was extremely compact, so much so - you would have to close the bathroom door to access the sink to wash your hands, a little bothersome but forgivable considering the age of the building. The hotel is full of art, and old world glamour. We enjoyed our stay and felt very comfortable, despite the ghostly reputation. We didn’t want to opt into stories, particularly with the handsome nightly rate we paid. Staff were friendly and professional and housekeeping staff were extremely accommodating with our requests of extra towels or bottled water. My only recommendation would be that the hotel considers upgrading the choice of bed linen fabric, polyester blend sheets do not make for a comfortable sleep. Overall, a very pleasant stay, recommend.

I booked this stay 3 months in advance to guarantee a room for an anniversary date. I booked a king room. When we arrived at 5. They had no rooms available. Check in is at 4. How can all the rooms be full. Anyways I was told they only had double beds. Not sure about anyone else but staying in a room with 2 beds for your anniversary is not very pleasing. We paid almost $1000 for a two night stay for our wedding weekend to have the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had in all of our travels. We’ve stayed at places deemed less luxurious than this hotel and received way better service. The front staff (with the exception of one person during our checkout) was really bland and unwelcoming. When I walked up to the front desk to check in, they looked at me like I was bothering or inconveniencing them. They seemed annoyed to answer any of my questions. The hotel bar staff was rude and neglectful which is crazy because of how expensive their menu is. You would think you’d at least get service with a smile or maybe some manners. We waited 20 minutes at a dirty table for someone to finally notice us and walk over. The server didn’t even greet us in any way and instead asked if the dirty glasses and dishes were ours and when we said no he replied with “what do you want to drink?” And then started walking away from our table before we were even done with our order. Our food was awful. My pasta was burned and tasted old. My husbands food was cold and bland. The 1886 cafe downstairs by the lobby was also a huge disappointment. When I was ordering my drink I asked the barista a question about the menu and she literally turned her back to me while I was mid sentence without saying anything and completely ignored me and had another person take over. The Driskill is the only place I like to stay for the Austin Film Festival. The staff is tremendous and always happy to help make your stay memorable. This hotel is a vintage jewel in Downtown Austin. Treat yourself to something special there.

Front desk staff very professional and friendly. Sasha made great local restaurant recommendations. The history tour of the hotel given by the staff was very informative and interesting. The 1886 Cafe was delicious brunch and lattes. The bar was great for drinks and appetizers in the evening. The room was clean and beautiful. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We recommend this property and will return when visiting Austin.

The most unique experience we had would be with Manny. He was outstanding in his professionalism, attentiveness and readiness to assist us, he alone made the experience unmatched by any other hotel or resort we visit. I also want to give a shout out to Evan and Chris for all of the answers they gave the boys regarding the hotel, the ghosts and the hotel rules...they answered about 1000 questions with the patience and knowledge making the stay very special.

The Driskill is a historical site. This gem sets on 6th Street amongst the local bar scene. The bar in the Driskill is fabulous. The hotel is decked out with all the Christmas trimmings. I definitely will make the a regular stay the next time I'm in Austin!!

Very nice place, Expedia said it had a pool (it does not). Homeless people EVERYWHERE outside, constantly bothering people or showing everybody their private parts. Obviously not the hotels fault, however, not a place to stay with children unless you want them seeing private parts of homeless people. 6th street was fun. Cafe inside hotel was delicious!

Great place to stay if you want walkability and ease to 6th Street. The lobby can get really busy in the evenings. Parking is very expensive but the system worked well being able to retrieve your vehicle via a website through text.

Wonderful stay. Hotel is in the heart of Austin. Fantastic history of the hotel. Just watching people come all day with amazed looks at how beautiful the hotel is is amazing. The coffee shop is truly worth going to especially for the cinnamon scroll. Coffee is fantastic as well.

I was very disappointed that the bar was closed and there was no fine dining on offer. The room was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were very nice. The staff were great. I loved staying at the Driskill but was disappointed by the lack of amenities.

Everything at the hotel was well. We loved the architecture and how well the building had been kept and run. Congratulations!! But we were not happy at all with the food served at the restaurant. We thought we would have our anniversary dinner at the hotel restaurant instead of going out. It was a bad decision. Whatever we tried was disappointing, even the simple macoroni!! Our waiter tried her best, but her efforts could not overcome the chef's inaptitude... Let's forget the failed steak and cod that are perhaps more difficult to prepare. How can you even mess up macaroni?

In the past, I have a love staying at the Driscoll. It’s one of my all-time favorite places in Austin because it’s so beautiful in historic. However, this time it fell short. We couldn’t watch television due to it being so far from the bed and experience in general was a little bit disappointing.

I love this historic property! The accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, and the service was impeccable. Be sure to take the free tour when you’re staying there! We ate breakfast in the café both mornings, and it was so delicious.
