Hampton Inn St. Louis/Westport

Great location to all things St. Louis. The area in front was also really good for hanging out with family

Our stay at this Hampton Inn was disappointing overall. When we arrived, we immediately realized this was a much more run-down property than the higher end Hampton Inns we were expecting. The staff, however, were incredibly friendly and professional. Check in was pleasant, and when we brought our concerns to the front desk, the receptionist was very kind and accommodating. Unfortunately, our first room was not acceptable. It was on the lower level and was extremely humid, with a dehumidifier running in the room. The air felt incredibly thick, and there was so much condensation on the floor that my anti slip tennis shoes were sliding. We also found spiders on the floor near the air conditioning unit, ripped fabric hanging from the bottom of the bed frame, and pink mold in the corners of the shower. We asked if we could be moved to another room, and thankfully the receptionist was able to move us to a room on a different level. The second room was an improvement, but it was still noticeably worn and dated. The cabinet door in front of the fridge was broken, there was hair in the shower, and it took over 5 minutes to get hot water in the shower as well. Overall, this was definitely a lower-end, older Hampton Inn and did not meet our expectations. We really appreciated the friendly and professional staff, especially the receptionist who helped resolve the situation, but the condition of the property and first room significantly impacted our stay.

A slight problem in the bath: the water in the shower did not get hot... it wasn't Freezing, but a little cooler than comfortable. The sink had a good supply of hot water. I reported the discrepancy to staff and they will address it (I only stayed one night this trip). I've stayed at this property several times in the recent past and really enjoy the friendly staff, good breakfast, swimming pool, and, generally, how well maintained and clean the property is. The location is very convenient to major highways, but quiet. Several good restaurants in the area are a nice plus (no need to get on the interstate to find a good place to eat).

Overall a great stay. My only complaint is cleanliness. We found hairs in the shower and the table next to the bed was sticky and dirty. Very friendly staff though and good breakfast
