We recently stayed here for two nights for our wedding anniversary. The resort grounds were absolutely beautiful, a large foyer at the entrance and board walk tracks through the rainforest. Our room was very spacious and included a bath tub, veranda, kitchenette, dining table and lounge room. A short drive from the Byron town centre, we had a car with us which was definitely needed. We have previously stayed at other Crystalbrook hotels and weren’t quite as impressed with the condition and cleanliness of Crystalbrook Byron. The couches were very stained and rooms felt a bit older than we expected from the photos. Pool was large and not too crowded, however very deep so only really suitable for laps rather than relaxing. Poolside bar was closed our entire stay so we ordered drinks at the indoor bar instead. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and hope to come back one day.

This resort is incredible, and the photos don’t do it justice. Gorgeous boardwalks through rainforest to your rooms with an easy, beautiful walk to a stunning, sparsely populated beachfront. The pool and restaurant are great too.

Crystalbrook is a delight. I wanted three nights in a place where I could be comfortable doing nothing. Nothing meaning I could leave my wife shopping in Bryon and I could sauna, swim, dine, relax, write, draw… all in the tranquil facilities of this hotel. I chose Crystalbrook two months before our stay that if it was fine weather then great, but if raining (and it poured the whole time we were here) I would still feel like I’ve had the best time. I said to the staff on my way out, this was the fulfilment of a holiday about nothing. If I wanted something I could have found it but I chose nothing and it found me.

Lovely venue. Unfortunately missing 5star service ie nil offer or transport to assist with luggage when suite located a distance. Service seemed to be missing opportunities to impress. Room had hand marks on glass and no bins Nil bar fridge options. It just didn’t make the 5star mark

A beautiful haven. Will definitely be back. My only concern was that the room smelt musty and the air conditioner blew out musty air, and as someone with black mould in my lungs this was of significant concern, but it thankfully didn't seem to affect me negatively.

Couch and outdoor lounge cushion seats have stain that I wouldn’t want to sit in them at all. Understand that it’s lightweight construction but I could hear noise from upstairs and from the outside walkway.

2nd time staying at a Crystalbrook after having a negative experience at Crystalbrook Riley in Cairns previous. Assumed it may have just been the particular hotel and decided to try again in Byron. Lengthy check in with room not yet available. When finally able to access the room it was a lovely layout, bed was very comfortable lounges not so much. The iPad used for ordering room service and room information was not working. The shower had a stainless steel floor and was extremely slippery and really was a safety risk. The metal also lifted after hot water began running on it which felt like you could fall through the floor. Lots of potential with lovely amenities and surrounds. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately Crystalbrook on two occasions now have shown that they don’t back up the marketing.

We have stayed here before - it was all lovely except they worked on the room above us it was really loud and the loud staff yelling at each other about the job was Sooo un relaxing apart from this very frustrating time everything else was lovely and really enjoyed the yoga in the morning

We stayed in the Tree Top room and would highly recommend it; we will definitely book again. We had two dinners and one breakfast; the dinners were lovely. My only feedback is that the breakfast was a little disappointing, the poached eggs were hard and the toast was dry, my preference is soft poached eggs, everything else was great. I had a gorgeous spa treatment, the products were divine, my skin felt amazing after. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, thank you making our stay relaxing and enjoyable.

We stayed in the Tree Top room and would highly recommend it; we will definitely book again. We had two dinners and one breakfast; the dinners were lovely. My only feedback is that the breakfast was a little disappointing, the poached eggs were hard and the toast was dry, my preference is soft poached eggs, everything else was great. Very impressed with the room and facilities. Although I was very disappointed that at the front desk they state that late checkout is available for extra $, but when I requested this, they said I cannot have late checkout as ‘they are fully booked’; I found that hard to believe, as I had a Sunday checkout (very rare for people to check in on a Sunday, and upon checking availability of the room on their website for that day, they were not fully booked out at all? Food variety is extremely limited & expensive, even less variety for their room service menu; literally only burgers, chips and calamari that costs $30?!

2nd time staying at a Crystalbrook after having a negative experience at Crystalbrook Riley in Cairns previous. Assumed it may have just been the particular hotel and decided to try again in Byron. Lengthy check in with room not yet available. When finally able to access the room it was a lovely layout, bed was very comfortable lounges not so much. The iPad used for ordering room service and room information was not working. The shower had a stainless steel floor and was extremely slippery and really was a safety risk. The metal also lifted after hot water began running on it which felt like you could fall through the floor. Lots of potential with lovely amenities and surrounds. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately Crystalbrook on two occasions now have shown that they don’t back up the marketing.

Seriously the most relaxing resort I have ever stayed in. Loved everything about it. The room, the wooden paths through the rainforest to the beach, the pool where you can sit and stare at the view. I will be back. Only stayed overnight this time. Next time it will be longer.

We recently stayed here for two nights for our wedding anniversary. The resort grounds were absolutely beautiful, a large foyer at the entrance and board walk tracks through the rainforest. Our room was very spacious and included a bath tub, veranda, kitchenette, dining table and lounge room. A short drive from the Byron town centre, we had a car with us which was definitely needed. We have previously stayed at other Crystalbrook hotels and weren’t quite as impressed with the condition and cleanliness of Crystalbrook Byron. The couches were very stained and rooms felt a bit older than we expected from the photos. Pool was large and not too crowded, however very deep so only really suitable for laps rather than relaxing. Poolside bar was closed our entire stay so we ordered drinks at the indoor bar instead. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and hope to come back one day.

Very friendly service from all staff, from reception to the restaurant and even the gardening team. The setting is wonderful and feels secluded, and still only a short drive from town. We enjoyed the walking paths that go through the wetlands on the property, and being able to access the beach with just a short walk.

We stayed in the Tree Top room and would highly recommend it; we will definitely book again. We had two dinners and one breakfast; the dinners were lovely. My only feedback is that the breakfast was a little disappointing, the poached eggs were hard and the toast was dry, my preference is soft poached eggs, everything else was great. Crystalbrook is a delight. I wanted three nights in a place where I could be comfortable doing nothing. Nothing meaning I could leave my wife shopping in Bryon and I could sauna, swim, dine, relax, write, draw… all in the tranquil facilities of this hotel. I chose Crystalbrook two months before our stay that if it was fine weather then great, but if raining (and it poured the whole time we were here) I would still feel like I’ve had the best time. I said to the staff on my way out, this was the fulfilment of a holiday about nothing. If I wanted something I could have found it but I chose nothing and it found me.

After reading so many glowing reviews, I expected Crystalbrook Byron to be the relaxing luxury 5-star rainforest retreat it claims to be. Unfortunately, the reality never matched the promise. What disappointed me most was the gap between expectation and reality. A musty room with mould concerns, dust, spider webs, a shower that occasionally switched itself on, disrupted sleep and a room move were not what I expected from a property positioned and priced as a luxury retreat. I have photos of several of these issues. A few maintenance or cleanliness issues might not bother me in a 3-star property. At this level, however, guests are paying for attention to detail, proactive maintenance and an experience that feels genuinely cared for. Those standards were simply not met. To his credit, Hugh, the Front Office Manager, took the time to listen to my concerns. However, listening and delivering are not always the same thing, and the overall experience never recovered. Technically there was a rainforest. The tranquillity proved much harder to locate. As for the private beach that was advertised on the booking platform at the time of my stay, Hugh was still looking for it when I checked out. To their credit, the listing has since been updated, but it became a perfect illustration of the gap between expectation and reality that characterised the entire stay. After the first night, I was already looking forward to getting back home. Home is more restorative and a lot cheaper.
