This is an historic home made into a hotel. It’s in a perfect place for exploring Jedburgh with restaurants and shopping just a stone’s throw away. Very convenient and free parking close by. The lovely staff took good care of us and breakfast was delicious!

Great value 2* star hotel but stayed in 3* hotels not as good. Clean, comfortable rooms, amazing breakfast and the owner Alex and his staff were amazing, especially Terry who always delivered service with a smile. Four difficult flights of stairs to traverse which was energy sapping especially after a long day but otherwise no complaints.

Currently hotel offers bed and breakfast only. Room was large,as was the bed, and was very clean and comfortable with a good en-suite. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit juice,toast and a six item I (including haggis) individually cooked to order which sets you up for the day ahead.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was freshly cooked to order. However, there was no bar or restaurant in the hotel and apparently all the nearby bars in Jedburgh close at 8pm! Luckily there was a fantastic Italian restaurant opposite which was superb so we ate well.

Very clean and new inside. Excellent breakfast. Parking on street out front no problem. Could use a little direction on using the shower and possibly a grab handle. I would stay here again.

We stayed here after a gig at Floors castle and it was just what we needed. There is a free car par just down from the hotel and the staff were all great and accommodating with later check in. Rooms were good size and comfortable and breakfast was nice. The B&B itself is perfectly positioned for exploring the local area and we were lucky enough to be there during on a craft fayre day in the town which was great, thanks to the owners for letting us know about this! Would recommend and stay again if back in that area :)

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel. Though the hike up to the third floor was a bit of a challenge with suitcases, the room was comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast downstairs was very nice. We would stay here again in the future!

When they say 3 PM check-in, they mean it. It would be nice to have something on the door stating hours of operation. We arrived before 3 and the place was locked up tight. There was no indication that it was open for business, just momentarily closed for lunch or whatever. It appeared to be closed permanently. The on-line information mentions parking. It is there, but it isn't necessarily at the hotel. It can be found for free, thankfully. It is an old structure and shows it. There seems to be a very strong concentration of mold and mildew. My wife could smell it very easily, and had trouble sleeping due to this odor. Turning on the shower in the morning was interesting. Who knew you had to turn on a switch outside the bathroom to start the water? Nothing indicated anywhere. I just guessed and got lucky. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Royal. I really want to, because it's obvious this area needs the influx of tourism money, the amenities need upgrading before they'll get too many customers. Mostly, better information would go a long way to helping out visitors.

Very welcoming. Everything was explained clearly. I was helped with luggage up the stairs and table booked at Italian restaurant for me. Room was clean and airy, big window high ceiling. Bed and bed linen good. Wi-Fi worked well. Tv was a touch on the small side for the watching distance. Breakfast was served and very well cooked and tasty.

The host was warm welcoming entertaining made us feel welcome. The room was functional warm and though the chairs were tired they were comfortable. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very welcome tasty and generous. Loved it

We could not have been made more welcome. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was better than one in a 5 star hotel we stayed in the next night. Dinner was booked for us as we had arrived late in the day. Better service is hard to find.

As a stopover location, the Royal Hotel suited us. Very pleasant reception, and helpful when we lost an item in the town. The breakfast didn't include any choices, but was every bit sastisfying. Thank you.

Located in the centre of Jedburgh with free car park close by easy reach of pubs and places to eat. Breakfast very good . Room spacious and clean. Fantastic owner very chatty

The staff are helpful and exceptionally friendly. This is an old hotel that has been extensively renovated yet keeps its old style charm. Breakfast was very good. Town is easily walkable.

We stayed here after a gig at Floors castle and it was just what we needed. There is a free car par just down from the hotel and the staff were all great and accommodating with later check in. Rooms were good size and comfortable and breakfast was nice. The B&B itself is perfectly positioned for exploring the local area and we were lucky enough to be there during on a craft fayre day in the town which was great, thanks to the owners for letting us know about this! Would recommend and stay again if back in that area :)

No issues with the Internet. Preferably larger tv screen in room. Staff excellent, friendly and professional. Room was clean and toiletries available. Breakfast- had choice of cereals...seasonal fruit...fruit drinks...Cooked Breakfast

Currently hotel offers bed and breakfast only. Room was large,as was the bed, and was very clean and comfortable with a good en-suite. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit juice,toast and a six item I (including haggis) individually cooked to order which sets you up for the day ahead.

As a stopover location, the Royal Hotel suited us. Very pleasant reception, and helpful when we lost an item in the town. The breakfast didn't include any choices, but was every bit sastisfying. Thank you.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was freshly cooked to order. However, there was no bar or restaurant in the hotel and apparently all the nearby bars in Jedburgh close at 8pm! Luckily there was a fantastic Italian restaurant opposite which was superb so we ate well.

Hotel smells like a nursing home. It was clean and bed was comfortable but breakfast service was terrible. Still waiting on my toast and I felt like an inconvenience when I went for breakfast. Staff too busy chatting to each other.

The Royal was a terrific find for us. The owners were delightful and the hotel their pride and joy. Breakfast is delicious and included and the room, and bed were very comfortable. The shower is good also.

De medewerkers waren ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Heel fijn dat er glutenvrije opties waren voor het ontbijt, zelfs Haggis!

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel. Though the hike up to the third floor was a bit of a challenge with suitcases, the room was comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast downstairs was very nice. We would stay here again in the future!

Excellent breakfast, freshly produced. Room large, comfortable and well-equipped. But 2nd floor involves old-fashioned stairs with variable tread width etc, - awkward with anything bigger than a backpack. Very helpful staff particularly in helping when one of us needed medical attention.

Amazing experience, great friendly staff, clean comfy room. Lovely breakfast. Only criticism would be no evening meals. Everywhere seemed to be fully booked probably because there isn't many places to go for evening meals. The hotel would benefit from providing guests with the option of evening meal, even if they asked guests to pre order to cut down on waste. Also so they kitchen could be closed if no one booked.

Overall, a lovely place to stay and very helpful owner/manager. 4 stars rather than 5 because water flow to top storey bathroom was poor at times (old building) and shower door didn't close properly (new fitting).

We had a lovely stay at The Royal Hotel. The staff were very attentive and helpful, the rooms were comfortable, clean and nice. Breakfast was very tasty, we had everything we could ask for and would recommend it to people who are exploring the Borders and Jedburgh.
