We really enjoyed our visit. The hotel was comfortable and quiet. Relaxing on the deck in the morning and evening was wonderful. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. The only tiny issue was the quality of the facial and toilet tissue. Everything else was terrific!! The ambient music was such a nice surprise. It was and easy walk to get into town. We will return.

Rely renovated gorgeous luxury property. Outstanding staff were attentive and customer focused. Fun fire pit, and other amenities. A quick walk to everything in Highlands. We will tell our friends and stay again.

We reserved a garden king with fireplace and were placed in a dog friendly king looking at the parking lot. the room smelled like dog urine. No other rooms left for that night but were moved to another alternate room, double no fireplace. Staff was friendly. The outdoor area/firepit is a nice place to gather and meet others. The Nordic Spa was not working so we could not enjoy that. Restaurant and Bar will open Jan 2025 we were told.

Nice room and clean. Very few amenities and the attached restaurant only takes reservations (even for Sunday brunch)

Room was cutely decorated and comfortable. Loved the coffee/tea and snack area in the room. The Fellows tea kettle was perfect. Bed was low, but comfy. Parking was plentiful. The continental breakfast was bare bones and the banana bread was pretty bland. Husband did not have hot water both days but the desk person gave us a small refund for the inconvenience. Prices were quite high due to leaf season. Fire pit and lobby were cozy.

There was no one to check us in. Took a while to find someone to help The facility is great. Rooms are nice Ground level floors have 2 entry door. Front and back. Very convenient for parking

Enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Trailborn. Super mid century. They did a great job. Enjoyed the Nordic Spa…although I wished it was a bit more private. Once the trees grow around it, it will help. Recommend a bathing suit if you plan to use it. Fire in the fire pit at night was nice. Staff were helpful & friendly. Small onsite market and filtered water fountain available for guests. Coffe, tea & banana bread available in the mornings. There are bikes for guest use but we did not try them this trip. Only complaint was that the bed wasn’t comfortable. For only being 8 months in, the mattress already had sunken spots.

We enjoyed the property and we will stay theee again when next in Highlands. However, I highly recommend changing the fire pits to smokeless fire pits from a company like Breeo. Or, move them away fell. The building during the two days there, the smoke form the fire pits was coming into our room via our ac. This occurred in the original room reserved and again the next day in the one you kindly moved us to.

:) 1) Renovation was well executed for the rooms and commons. 2) Great location. 2 blocks to town square. 3) Quiet. 4) Clean. 5) Free bicycle use. :( 1) Poor breakfast offering including the coffee. 2) Restaurant and Nordic spa were still under construction and appeared to be several months from being completed.

Everything was wonderful. Extremely Clean. Loved the music station and the group that played.

The shower tile grout was black with mildew.

The hotel was pretty old. The windows were very dirty that it was hard to see outside. The shower handle fell off while I was showering, and there seems to be permanent staining on the tile grout. The "fruit and home-made banana bread breakfast" was only red apples with no butter for the banana bread (which did not seem home made and was pretty bland). There was no pricing for the mini bar. Automatic doors at front lobby entrance would have been nice for managing luggage cart by myself. With Highlands being a pretty popular wedding destination, I was surprised there was no where to hang my full-length dress, nor was there any iron to use to de-wrinkle. No glasses for water, only two styrofoam coffee cups. The rooms themselves were roomy very though.

There really is no breakfast at this place. Only have oranges, apples , banana bread , tea and coffee that is caffeinated. The tea selection is kinda of odd, no "normal everyday tea". Only had some flavored tea. Rooms are clean except we had an issue with ants that were on the bed and some furniture. On inspection of the room, a previous visitor who occupied this room left some sticky substance on the furniture that attracted the ants. The staff addressed the issue immediately The bathroom is fine except it looks like the shower tile is old and the grout needs a through cleaning. There is not much to do at this property. Walking into downtown Highlands was very easy.

Mattress was terrible to try to sleep on. Very soft, no support on your back. Rooms have no closet to hang your clothes.

The property could still use some attention to detail in the rooms. The beds are not comfortable, and they have old air conditioning units that are pretty loud. The decor is very sparse which may be intentional but the walls are very white.

Overall, our stay was excellent at this property. A couple points first the clientele is primarily seniors. Somebody in their infinite wisdom decided to go with beds that are low to the ground. Yes they are comfortable, but old people would not be able to get out of these beds easily. That purchase was a strategic mistake by management. Additionally. Check-in was scheduled for 4 PM on Sunday 7/27. The Front Desk was clearly not prepared to check people in at that time.

The check in process was a disaster. Our room was not ready even an hour past check in time. There seemed to be a shortage of trained staff members. We had reserved a king balcony room, which we never saw. We were first given a queen room after 5 pm. After making our dissatisfaction known we were then given a king garden room. THERE ARE NO CLOSETS IN THE ROOMS.

This newly renovated hotel falls short because the room just was not comfortable. The beds are low platform beds (mattress on a low platform) that, if you are a senior or have any mobility issues, are hard to get out of. They are also very soft, which makes it worse. Our room also had no chairs, which meant that you had to try to use the beds to sit on. The noisy air conditioning also inexplicably would not reduce the humidity, so you walk in from a a very comfortable hallway to a musty feeling room (we asked for help with the A/C unit, but it did not improve things). Seems like the renovation missed the mark with the rooms. The staff is friendly and the common areas are nice. There is a nice outdoor deck, but it was made unusable in the evenings by lots of smoke from wet firewood being burned in a fire pit (a smokeless fire pit would be a cheap solution). A few positives: The location is good. There is an adjacent upscale restaurant and other restaurants within walking distance. For us, the positives were outweighed by the disappointing room. There is no real breakfast: Just coffee and some banana bread and fruit.

Beautiful room, but heating system thermostat did nor work. Set it at 69 and went to dinner, came back and the room was 85 at least and the heat still coming out. Complained at the desk, apparently noone on duty to reapair, Was offered another room but it was easier to open the balcony door, and shut the system off.

Great location within walking distance to town and many restaurants. Front desk has a young staff & maybe not fully trained or engaged. When arriving at 5pm (with a 4pm check-in) was told our room was not ready yet. When pushed offered the 1st room off the lobby by the elevator & bathrooms. When that was declined, offered a more accepting location down the hall. Was offered no information about the hotel’s amenities or the room deposit that would be refunded at the end of the stay. Our room key stopped working on our last day & took 4 return visits to the front desk to finally receive keys that did work. The room was comfortable & housekeeping did a nice job keeping the room clean & stacked with towels. Morning coffee available early at 6am was good. Be prepared for rain as this area is located in a rainforest.

The property was convenient to town, clean and well maintained. The breakfast was adequate with fruit and homemade banana bread. The commone sitting area was large with a nice seating area and good lighting. The staff, however, was a mixed bag. The breakfast attendant and maintenance staff were excellent. The front desk attendant (female) had an attitude and was very unpleasant to multiple customers.

We stayed at Trailborn Highlands this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it! We had no idea that their grand opening was the weekend prior. We booked last minute and were a little concerned because of the reviews online but the pictures looked great and when we arrived, we found out the reviews were prior to new ownership and a full remodel! The hotel is super cool. The rooms are current with a retro vibe. Every staff member we encountered was very hospitable and helpful. We spoke to many! Christy, who is a manager, was so sweet and helpful. Chris, who is part of the team, works all over the resort and wanted to make sure everything was good with our bikes. As part of staying there they offer very attractive cruiser bikes for riding around town…which we did all day on Saturday. Everyone was asking where we got our bikes. :) We also spoke with the chef of the future onsite restaurant, Highlands Supper Club. It isn’t open yet so he was giving us insight as to where to eat, as he is all about food! Another awesome thing is that they have a great area to sit and relax or work, if needed- which includes a fireplace. They offer a continental breakfast with unique goodies that we loved! There is a beautiful area in the back of the hotel that offers Adirondack style chairs with fire pits. We sat out there both nights. It was incredible! We are excited to return as we will be staying there again! Thanks to the entire team at Trailborn Highlands for making our visit amazing!

Hotel Staff was very hospitable and helpful. Every area of the hotel; inside and the grounds were clean and kept. The room was very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there in the future.

In Highlands for the weekend. Lovely property within walking distance of the Main Street.

We loved the outdoor seating of this facility. We loved the location feeling secluded but close to the downtown area. We loved the quietness of the room and the common areas.

Quiet Clean Close to town

I had a WONDERFUL stay, and can't wait to come back! LOVED the water bottle filling station, the luxe-70s lodge vibe, the staff was incredible, they have a great offerings in the market, my room had a gas fireplace (!!!!), and overall I loved it. My only two complaints were that the mattress was not comfortable (my aching back woke me up both mornings), and I strongly dislike instant coffee, which was the ONLY coffee option available (in room or otherwise).

Pillows need to be replaced. Coffee in the lobby was lukewarm.. even at 6:30. Other than that the place was fine. Everyone very friendly

Nice location - 2 minute drive to town. Supper Cub right behind the hotel was very good! Hanger steak, Elk, pork belly appetizer. Bourbon bacon old fashion was delicious!

Very beautiful property within walking distance of downtown Highlands. This is a special hotel with a modern/eclectic and eco friendly feel. Only downfall was they promised coffee and pastries for breakfast, and all that was on the buffet was one plate with a few slices of banana bread. Loved the breakfast/gathering room.
