Nice, quiet resort. The waterspa was excellent, and there were so many things to do (pool table, shuffle board, ping pong, darts, etc). The food at the restaurant was a little expensive but the quality was amazing, and staff throughout our trip were very helpful.

The spa pool was broken and eont be fixed til next week, we werent informed before the stay or upon arrival. They said they left a boicemail, they did not. Noone told us at check in. Fisappointing. The outdoor pool is green and nit in use just like last year. I have photos

Stunning views of Eagle Lake and the fall colors, indoor water spa pool, dock and lakeside sitting spaces...and the food is great! The inn also provides a free boat ride of the Eagle Lake. Situated close to Sir Sam's Ski & ride. Saw a couple of deer roaming around the property.

This property has a lot of potential with historic charm but is old and run down. It is advertised as having 2 pools (indoor and outdoor), a gym, tennis courts and watersports but the reality was the gym was closed due to flooding (but had been converted to storage), the outdoor pool was closed and under repair, the tennis courts were unusable (1 court was destroyed by washout, 2nd court had a net but had large cracks in surface with weeds growing up through it), watersport equipment was limited to 1 SUP, 1 kayak and 1 hobbicraft for the entire property to share (paddles and lifejackets hard to find). Rooms did not have any a/c and the property was severely understaffed. There was only 1 person covering the front desk, bar and dining room.

The inn is set in a beautiful area of eagle lake, great views, nice small beach with sun beds, nice to swim in lake, free hour boat trip, weather permitting, free kayaks, lots of areas to sit and admire the view, nice restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, good indoor pool and spa areas. The main building could do with some tlc, the cleanliness of the lodges needs improving, a lot of cobwebs inside and out, carpets very old and need replacing.

Clean, Comfy Room & Bed. For a couples get away, an important item is to have descent coffee, a cheap Keurig just doesn't fit the place. No microwave in the rooms, by their choice, also disappointing. But Overall Excellent Staff, inside & out. Not adequate parking for more than a car/truck. But Adequate, they were very accommodating & helpful. Great Water Spa. Very Relaxing, Various Water Jets. Thx very Much !

I have been to Sir Sams a few times over the years and I have to say that it has gone down hill greatly since I was here last. If you are going in the summer you should be aware that aside from the lobby and dining area there is no air conditioning. The rooms get very hot. They are clearly having some staffing issues. We were unfortunate enough to be there the day after their chef suddenly quit, leaving them scrambling to get a replacement. They did get someone who had previously done the job for them and he made a valiant effort to keep things on an even keel. Unfortunately he had to battle a larder left depleted by the original chef. The long and short of the dining experience was that dinner was bumped an hour later for the early diners which made everyone come in about the same time. This seemed to overwhelm the staff. Meals were VERY slow to come out and very erratic. Many dishes, including mine which was requested as medium-rare, came out well-done and had to be sent back adding another half hour or so wait. They did not offer to take my wife's dinner back so we could eat together. They did give us free drinks to compenate. Breakfast was a different story. It was organized and everything was good. The rugs in the main area and the suites were very old and stained. Our bedding had to be replaced because it was frankly dirty. I have to say the staff did their best. The place is looking very tired. It needs a major overhaul.

Beautiful location all year round, very serene. Amazingly friendly staff, and clean rooms. If something doesn't go right, they're super quick to fix it. Highly recommend!

The room could have been a little cleaner. Floors. Also there was a fire place where old wood was kept but not in use as it’s the summer so there were scraps of wood & very dusty that could have been cleaned up. Don’t mind the would siting under the fire place but old pieces of wood were lying atond & very dusty.

Staff very courteous. Room had nice view and comfortable bed But bathroom not clean. Lighting was not the best and did not notice at first but toilet not well cleaned. Yellow stains on seat cover. Floor dirty. Bathtub surface worn off around drain, so only took shower. Water was lukewarm at max setting. Wifi spotty.

Photos depict a bright and airy decor. We chose the room with the 2 wing chairs and the beautiful pine hope chest style coffee table. We were given a very dated dull room with no wing chairs or large coffee table; simply a very old couch with cushions that had no support. The tv was the smallest wall tv we’d ever seen. We we mortified to be given sheets of paper for kindling that had previous customer’s personal information…their name, email address and what they paid during their stay! Now we wonder who’s reading our personal info? We also didn’t see anywhere on the hotel listing that said the rooms were inna motel-like strip behind the main hotel, with no parking in front of the suites. We also had no idea there were stairs with no safety railing going down to the room the minute you open your door. The staff were extremely warm & friendly and the manager moved us to another room with 2 wing chairs, but still no coffee table or DVD player as advertised. So the romantic movies we brought for Valentine’s couldn’t be watched. The gorgeous pool they show on their site was also dated and the jets were so weak we didn’t see how they could claim this is therapeutic in any way. The restaurant “Twin Fires” wasn’t very warm. We saw the two fireplaces…but both nights they weren’t lit. However, that being said the cuisine was lovely with beautiful presentation, the candle-lit ambiance and outdoor twinkly lights were appreciated, and their staff are exceptional!

My wife and I booked a last minute 2 night stay just after Canada Day weekend. The resort has beautiful, west facing, sunset views over the lake. However, the daily complimentary 1 hour cruise, with Steve, was the highlight of the trip (enjoyed both days)! The bed was comfortable although both nights were sleepless, due to a mini heat wave, and the room was an absolute furnace! That being said, we knew up front there was no AC (not the fault of Sir Sam's). There's much room for improvement, however...and we're not sure it deserves even a 31/2 star rating. The ice machine was broken (has been for awhile), so we had to ask for the bar to only '3/4' fill our mini bucket each day :( On a similar note, there was enough bodywash included for only 1 shower. Good thing we brought some with us. Also bring a power bar, as there are hardly any available electrical outlets...that arent't already being used for table lamps/fans/CO detector. We ate dinner on one (1) night (fool me once). Good thing neither of us were hungry. The 7oz NY striploin (nearly $50 CAD) was possibly 2-3oz's of fat, although it was cooked...and seasoned well. I strongly encourage taking advantage of their meal plan, or eating elsewhere. We found McKeck's Pub was worth the 17 minute drive. Lastly, the TV was maybe 15" at best, and the satelite had nothing but news, TV shows, and PPV. They'd be better off replacing with a larger SMART TV where you can stream your own Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc.

They'd be better off replacing with a larger SMART TV where you can stream your own Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc.

I liked the property. It’s perfect for couples retreat. Property is old but price we paid its was good. Loved the view. They should have microvave in room as there is no restaurant near by. I would definitely go back.

While the room was clean, upon arrival our toilet was not flushing. With no phone in the room you need to bring this to attention at the front desk. The issue was fixed after approximately an hour and we were offered complimentary drinks at the bar for the inconvenience. I would have liked to see more fire wood prepared neatly in the room before we arrived as well as kindling and matches. The bed was incredibly comfortable! The spa pool and sauna were excellent. And the quiet Muskoka atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped to get out of our weekend. None of the negative comments are reasons we would not return. In fact we look forward to booking our next getaway at Sit Sam's.

I have been to Sir Sams a few times over the years and I have to say that it has gone down hill greatly since I was here last. If you are going in the summer you should be aware that aside from the lobby and dining area there is no air conditioning. The rooms get very hot. They are clearly having some staffing issues. We were unfortunate enough to be there the day after their chef suddenly quit, leaving them scrambling to get a replacement. They did get someone who had previously done the job for them and he made a valiant effort to keep things on an even keel. Unfortunately he had to battle a larder left depleted by the original chef. The long and short of the dining experience was that dinner was bumped an hour later for the early diners which made everyone come in about the same time. This seemed to overwhelm the staff. Meals were VERY slow to come out and very erratic. Many dishes, including mine which was requested as medium-rare, came out well-done and had to be sent back adding another half hour or so wait. They did not offer to take my wife's dinner back so we could eat together. They did give us free drinks to compenate. Breakfast was a different story. It was organized and everything was good. The rugs in the main area and the suites were very old and stained. Our bedding had to be replaced because it was frankly dirty. I have to say the staff did their best. The place is looking very tired. It needs a major overhaul.

Clean, Comfy Room & Bed. For a couples get away, an important item is to have descent coffee, a cheap Keurig just doesn't fit the place. No microwave in the rooms, by their choice, also disappointing. But Overall Excellent Staff, inside & out. Not adequate parking for more than a car/truck. But Adequate, they were very accommodating & helpful. Great Water Spa. Very Relaxing, Various Water Jets. Thx very Much !

I’d asked for a room with a patio on the first floor, but they were going to give me a room on the second floor. Also, when we went to the restaurant to have dinner, they said we should’ve made a reservation, but this wasn’t communicated to us, and so we had to drive 20 km to the nearest decent restaurant to eat.

Parking was difficult. Property was not plowed. Check in was not good. I was billed $123 immediately for Hotel “contents and resort fees” then credited the full amount then billed again. Very confusing and somewhat un organized.

My wife and I booked a last minute 2 night stay just after Canada Day weekend. The resort has beautiful, west facing, sunset views over the lake. However, the daily complimentary 1 hour cruise, with Steve, was the highlight of the trip (enjoyed both days)! The bed was comfortable although both nights were sleepless, due to a mini heat wave, and the room was an absolute furnace! That being said, we knew up front there was no AC (not the fault of Sir Sam's). There's much room for improvement, however...and we're not sure it deserves even a 31/2 star rating. The ice machine was broken (has been for awhile), so we had to ask for the bar to only '3/4' fill our mini bucket each day :( On a similar note, there was enough bodywash included for only 1 shower. Good thing we brought some with us. Also bring a power bar, as there are hardly any available electrical outlets...that arent't already being used for table lamps/fans/CO detector. Stunning views of Eagle Lake and the fall colors, indoor water spa pool, dock and lakeside sitting spaces...and the food is great! The inn also provides a free boat ride of the Eagle Lake. Situated close to Sir Sam's Ski & ride. Saw a couple of deer roaming around the property.

The inn is set in a beautiful area of eagle lake, great views, nice small beach with sun beds, nice to swim in lake, free hour boat trip, weather permitting, free kayaks, lots of areas to sit and admire the view, nice restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, good indoor pool and spa areas. The main building could do with some tlc, the cleanliness of the lodges needs improving, a lot of cobwebs inside and out, carpets very old and need replacing.

Nice, quiet resort. The waterspa was excellent, and there were so many things to do (pool table, shuffle board, ping pong, darts, etc). The food at the restaurant was a little expensive but the quality was amazing, and staff throughout our trip were very helpful.

Loved the rooms over looking the lake with wood burning stove. The pool spa was a nice way to end the day. We enjoyed kayaking on Eagle lake. It was nice that SUP boards and Kayaks are available. Not a great experience with the dinning. Over priced. Food was ok. I suggest dining in Halliburton. Haliburton just a 15 minute drive with some great pubs and restaurants.

The rugs in the main area and the suites were very old and stained. Our bedding had to be replaced because it was frankly dirty. I have to say the staff did their best. The place is looking very tired. It needs a major overhaul.
I have been to Sir Sams a few times over the years and I have to say that it has gone down hill greatly since I was here last. If you are going in the summer you should be aware that aside from the lobby and dining area there is no air conditioning. The rooms get very hot. They are clearly having some staffing issues. We were unfortunate enough to be there the day after their chef suddenly quit, leaving them scrambling to get a replacement. They did get someone who had previously done the job for them and he made a valiant effort to keep things on an even keel. Unfortunately he had to battle a larder left depleted by the original chef. The long and short of the dining experience was that dinner was bumped an hour later for the early diners which made everyone come in about the same time. This seemed to overwhelm the staff. Meals were VERY slow to come out and very erratic. Many dishes, including mine which was requested as medium-rare, came out well-done and had to be sent back adding another half hour or so wait. They did not offer to take my wife's dinner back so we could eat together. They did give us free drinks to compenate. Breakfast was a different story. It was organized and everything was good. We visited this property for one night for our anniversary. The water front and beach are nice and the staff was very friendly. We were not impressed with the restaurant. The pricing was not adequate to what we recieved for dinner. Well over priced. Also I paid extra for the romance package which was supposed to include a bottle of wine and charcuterie board. The board had to meat with it just a bit of cheese and crackers. For a 50 dollar charge I though it would be better.

I’d asked for a room with a patio on the first floor, but they were going to give me a room on the second floor. Also, when we went to the restaurant to have dinner, they said we should’ve made a reservation, but this wasn’t communicated to us, and so we had to drive 20 km to the nearest decent restaurant to eat.

Beautiful property. We arrived at 7:45pm tired and hungry after a 5 hour drive and was told no availability left for dinner. Lots of tables open and lots of diners still there. 30 minute drive to Minden for set down meal. Places in Haillburton 15 minutes away but all fast foods. SAD!

Staff and food were great .. Place is generally run down...needs maintenance and paint... Dresser drawer broken in room. Light bulbs needed replacement. No room housekeeping at all. Disappointing

The restaurant food was nice and great service. The wine selection was overpriced and junk, The bed was hard as a rock and the hotel and rooms need a proper clean, the floor in the bathroom was not sweep or cleaned properly or the shower or anywhere in the hotel. No ac either. It has a lovely location and bones to it . But the care and attention to the place makes it a 2-3 star place at best and they should not charge costs like that while I have a shower staring at mold and mildew all over the jets and walls. A good bleach clean , dust and touch up paint and maintenance would go a long way to respect this beautiful location and bones of the establishment. I was lucky to have the best company with me so it did not let this outweigh the time I stayed there. But lower your expectations folks. The reviews were right and had warned us to.

It’s a beautiful, quiet location right on the water, with great hiking in the area, The rooms are rustic, pretty clean but could use some updating. The grounds outside and the buildings need some general maintenance and a little more up keep, I think it maybe hard at times to get the required help which shows when the dining room is full in the evening causing service to be slow and lacking.

An amazingly peaceful and serene resort perfect for a couple's getaway, or quite time with friends. The restaurant food was really really good. My only complaint was the lack of airconditioning in the cabins (and more importantly the lack of air flow, meant that the room was way too hot on one particular humid night. AC really wouldn't be needed most nights, but good airflow is a must.
