Comfort Suites Merrillville near US 30

The rooms were very clean and the staff was amazing. The heat in one of our rooms wasn’t working and they sent someone to fix it right away. The pool was kind of cloudy but as a pool owner, I don’t blame the hotel, I blame the guests that don’t shower as instructed before swimming! Hot tub was perfect! Overall, we had an amazing night and would definitely book again!

The pool was dirty and too cold. The spa was dirty and cold. Room smelled. Bathroom floor was sticky and smelled like it was cleaned with a dirty mop.

The elevator was broke down. We could not swim the nextday from 11am-3pm. Otherwise a very good 2 day stay.

This hotel was not clean at all. The floors in the lobby, elevator, and especially the room itself, looked like they haven't been swept, vacuumed, or mopped in years. Bed sheets and comforters were stained with yellow and red spots. Pull out sofa was covered in trash under the cushions and the mattress was so stained and covered in dust and debris that it was completely unusable. I had to strip some sheets off of the queen beds to cover up the couch with layers not pulled out just so my fifth person had someplace to sleep that wasn't totally disgusting. Front desk guy was very rude and short. Aside from the absolute disgusting facility they also don't open the pool until 11am which is the time of check out so if you think you can let your kids swim the morning before you leave think again. At the rate of filth everywhere else though I would dare check out a pool there anyways. Overall 1/10 do not recommend.

Hotel was conveniently located, and beds were comfortable. Aside from that, the stay was way below average for a Comfort Suites. Room was dirty, chain lock was half broken, pillowcases and comforter were stained, curtains were broken. We had three people in the room and had 2 towels and no washcloths. Microwaved bacon looked raw. Keys were deactivated at 6 a.m. on our last day and elevator was broken. Pool was cloudy, and paint was peeling off. Would never stay here again.

It was terrible from start to finish and I’m concerned that my refund won’t come through. The first room, the safety hinge came off in my hands because it was missing bolts. We changed to another room with a dirty bathtub. When offered to move to a third room I refused and the manager was rude and insisted I look at the third room before issuing me a refund. That was inappropriate and my time had already been wasted with moving twice with my child/. The overall cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel was poor. Carpet in common stairwells was dirty and hadn’t been vacuumed, Lobby area was not clean, water was dirty, no cups, no coffee or hot tea at the water and coffee stations. The stations were there but unstocked and dirty. Pool sign said it was closed for maintenance but that’s not true. The hot tub was out of order but the pool was “open” despite a large sign on the door saying the pool is closed. Just a don’t stay here until the property is cleaned, repaired, and under new management or ownership.

Very nice staff They are clearly trying hard It’s clean but could use detailing Pool was nice Fitness center needs a lot of work done …don’t plan on a workout 😞 Small detail - coffee is usually bad a hotels. Theirs is wonderful. Usually I go out to get good coffee. Glad to get it right here. Real cream - not artificial creamer is here and thats great too Huge breakfast buffet was very well done. The layout is really nice in room. Everything smells very clean but linens are old and worn I can see it’s a family or small business running it- instead of expecting more I only wish them success so they can order new linens, hire detail cleaners for rooms and common areas and upgrade fitness machines , add free weights or a Swiss ball and mats It’s very cheap - however …. It’s also very noisy all night right on the highway Maybe request an east facing room if you want more quiet. Bed was very squishy. I’m not sure if it’s how it is supposed to be or old…it was not comfortable for someone who prefers a very firm surface to sleep on

Room was absolutely disgusting! Bathtub did not drain water. Pillows had stains, bed sheets and comforter had stains (blood). When I called down to the front I was informed that I needed to call back down in the morning. It was absolutely disgusting! I do not suggest this hotel!

First of all coming into the hotel there was a stale smell. We noticed reallly strong cigarette smell in the elevator and hallway. Every door is marked smoke-free, so it must be in the carpet. There were also stains everywhere on the carpet in the room. It didn’t look vacuumed either. Our beds were covered with 10 inch long hairs. It was in the sheets of one bed, but all over the comforter of both beds. So clearly they didn’t change the sheets. One comforter had mold all on a corner like it had been wet and left unwashed. We checked in late, so we were exhausted. We just went to sleep. But this is one of the dirtiest places I’ve ever been. I don’t even want to eat the breakfast because it probably is not prepared in a clean area.

This hotel was disgusting. Everything was dirty and gross. The mattress on the pull out couch had stains, the pool area was awful! There were bugs, short curly hairs, and some type of fluid floating in the hot tub. The pool was also gross. You couldn’t even see the bottom. There were used bandaids and gum all over the floor throughout the hotel. Avoid avoid avoid. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Hotels.com did nothing to help.

Rooms were dirty, the room had not been vacuumed, there were stains on the carpet and walls, beds were really uncomfortable. Even the iron board was filthy. Staff was nice but what does that matter when the rooms are trash. I can go more into details but long story short this was a horrible stay.

While staff was friendly, the property was not not worth the $500+ including the $100 deposit. You can see the hallways, the stairwells, and the rooms haven't been vacuumed in a good 6 months or longer. I took pictures! Because of issues with the rooms, we went through 3 rooms. That's how we knew none of the rooms had been cleaned. The first roomed smelled like a combination of urine and being mopped with dirty water. The second room had the same smell but the toilet was broken. Looked like it had been broken for a while. The 3rd room smelled but we sprayed a something for smells. There were as my kid called it, poo stains on the ceiling. Stains on the sheets. Stains on the curtains, stains on the lamps, stains on the carpet. Holes in the curtain. The pull out couches had stains and the first room had what looked to be flakes of some kind on the arms of the couch. We were there for a funeral and my daughter's first time to the area and it wasn't a comfortable stay overall. I have a few pictures if I need to send them in.

Clean room , comfortable bed , great shower , good breakfast

When I checked in the room it was filthy. The toilet had feces all around the toilet. Towels in the room had blood on it. Throw up in the garbage can. The internet kept going in and out no connection for the tv. I mention it to the people who worked there who just gave me stuff to clean it up and didn't send anyone to do so. I will never come back again.

Room was just, okay. Air conditioning was extremely noisy the bed was fairly comfortable, internet access were easy. overall not too bad.

TV didn't work for the channals we watch. Contacted front desk and after a bit she reset the system so we could watch. When our choice was finished, tried to switch channels and same thing happened. Didn't watch for rest of evening.

Very outdated property. Very loud. People/kids running the halls all night. When someone walks you can hear it in the rooms.

If you are traveling with children, we would highly recommend the 1 queen bed, 1 king bed room option. Very roomy. The beds could be more comfortable but they are not the worst, and most hotel beds aren’t that comfortable. Very friendly staff. The breakfast is okay, not a lot of options, basic foods: cereal, yogurt, toast, bagels, waffles. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

The room had a stale/ musty odor that resolved once the room cooled off, however the A/C unit was loud. Also no iron available.

Facility was fairly clean. However, there was no vending machines anywhere to get a drink or snack. The attendant was never at the desk. The room was noisy. AC kept makind a whistle sound. The room door had huge gaps. You could actually see light coming in all around it from the hall. You could hear everyone walking by. Light fixtures were half falling off. The bed was so uncomfortable on my back. No support. Had to lay out pillows and sleep on those. Then in the shower the water bearly came out. And the fixture didnt even have an option for massage spray. So your stuck with a little trickle. Sorry but the room sucked.

Nice property. No huge complaints other than the bath tub did not drain quickly at all and there was no dresser in the room. Minimal storage space other than a couple shelves. Nice big room that can use a dresser.

Room very good but had spotty wifi, 3 hrs for breakfast, 6-9, and pool said opens at 11 - checkout time (although door wasnt locked so useable)? Prior guest used washcloth left in bathroom amongst shower curtain so maybe was hidden?

Walls are paper thin. Could hear every conversation in the room next to us along with everything on the TV. The “cable” that they have included weird channels & we were not able to get NBC at all and we re unfortunately not able to watch the Olympics. The tub in our room looked like it was a bad crime scene clean up, but was most likely stained that way from lack of scrubbing efforts. Neither of us wanted to try it out. The sheets were clean, room vacuumed and the sink and toilet were cleaned. They must not look at any of the other surfaces in the bathroom because there was a round “M” sticker on the wall from a previous renters new shirt. The room was supposed to be a handicap accessible. It had a lower peephole and lock for the door. But the accessibility for the shower was a plastic shower chair with lots of holes in it that I had no idea when was last cleaned.

I was excited about staying at the hotel because I travel a lot and stay in many Comforts suites and always had excellent service and very clean accommodates. My reason for staying at this particular location I was there to attend the funeral of my brother. When arrive we checked in dropped our bags off in the room and when to see local family for dinner. We returned that night to the hotel about 12pm tired from the long 17-hour drive from Houston Texas ready for a shower and bed. When we went to enter our room which was a handicap accessible room the card would not open the door. That was not problem things happen no big deal the front desk clerk redid the card, and we were able to enter the room. After showering we proceeded to turn down the bed and found that the sheets were soiled with seamen, so I took pictures went down to the front desk to alert the desk clerk of my findings and to my surprise I was spoken to as if I soiled the sheets myself. The young lady night clerk ask why I am I reporting it now. I explained that I just return to the hotel from being out to dinner. She never apologized or said she was sorry for the condition of the room I felt that customer service just went out the window. The night before my brother's funeral we were locked out again and they could not find the master key. the door was open at 12:30 the funeral was at 2pm we were late. I should for a room I didn't stay in I'm not happy and will never stay with Comfort Suites again.

At 6:30 in the morning the hotel came to my door demanding a 150.00 I didn’t understand what he was talking about and I also was not dressed so I asked him to please leave my door and that I would be down to talk with him but he wouldn’t leave and threatened to call the police on me I told him to go ahead and closed the door. He proceeded to follow my two 13 year old granddaughters telling them that they owe him money this was so embarrassing. My whole family stayed there he woke up everyone on the second floor that was close to my room this was all unnecessary and he already had my deposit I will be calling the cooperate office and reporting all of that staff. I will be stopping my payments to my bank

This was the worst experience and I have stay at plenty of Comfort Suites! At 6:45 in the morning Ram the manager if that’s even his real name was in the hallway yelling and refusing to move from in front of another customer door! Demanding money or something. He woke up my sleeping children and after I opened my door to ask him to be quiet he still stood there. The poor woman was asking him to wait so she could get dress and then speak with him. I will never stay at this place again!

The manager was extremely kind, had a family emergency and he refunded my last night there even though I did not qualify for a refund! Super nice people running this hotel

In a sea of hotel choices in the area this one sets themselves apart from the rest because of their great staff

Staff were not friendly and seemed bothered when I asked for assistance. They lock housekeeping in the evening until 10 am and the front desk is unable to give you extra linen and towels. I had to beg multiple times to get one extra towel for the 5th person when the room we had was for 5 people. The shower had a huge crack in the floor and I injured my foot which the staff did nothing to assist us with and lied about contacting a manager to speak to me. Do not waste your money there.

Manager was very helpful and always around when needed.

Very nice staff, they help me for early check in and very good experience, love it and must recommended!

Great owners Friendly Clean Quiet

We had a valid Expedia reservation and the employee at the desk was super rude telling my wife there is nothing in can do now get out of the way. We had to book a diffrerent room 70 dollars more than the one we booked. And their explanation for the cacellation made no sense. The room had bugs and we had to switch. Later during thr trip the samw guy at the front desk called the police on patrons of the hotels for arguing about getting more towels. The police came and mentioned "they do this all the time" They are without a doubt the worst hotel staff ever. I cant imagine anyone who meets them once would ever come back so hopefully i can pursuade some folks who havent stayed there to try someplace else.

Close to Southlake Mall. Quiet, great breakfast and pool with hot tub. Easy access to I-65.

The parking lot had an incredible amount of trash. The rooms were okay.

Hotel room wasn’t bad. We had adequate toiletries etc. Beds were comfortable. But we had a few run ins with some people in the parking lot that were very sketch! They weren’t staying at the hotel but huge red flags to what their intentions were! It made us uncomfortable enough that we left early the morning of our departure instead of letting the kids swim and hangout.

Unsafe parking lot with drug dealer, very noisy, very dirty, phones didn’t work, staff was rude upon check-in.

We had a wonderful one-day stay with our family for my daughter's basketball tournament. The property was excellent, and our room was lovely. The location was ideal, being close to restaurants and a shopping mall. We would gladly stay here again.

Merriville is a great place to stay to be close to Chicago but not IN Chicago. This hotel is close and next to a mall and plenty of dining options. Just know it isn’t the Hilton, but it’s also not a Super 8. It’s perfect for a one- or two-night stay for an event in or around Chicago.

Everything was dirty. The hallway smelled like mold (at best) and wafted into our rooms. When we notified management, they put a dehumidifier in the hallways for a few hours but nothing else. Everything was dirty. I specifically chose this for the hot breakfast but it was practically inedible. Biscuits turned to dust in your mouth. Just bad.

When we arrived we found out they gave our room to someone else but had 1 room available. What I didn't like about the hotel was there breakfast. Same food every day and did not refill anything. At first I thought it was just for that morning if they run out that's it but no it was for literally the whole week they would not restock food items. The waffle batter was past due besides the color, waffles tasted sour.

My stay was Awesome from check-in to check-out (Sri was awesome! Quick check in/check out, professional, and friendly). The room was clean with all toiletries/towels stocked. The breakfast was excellent (waffles, eggs, sausage, cold cereal, yogurt, apples, bagels, pastries, coffee, juice (orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice), tea, and milk.

Love this place, staff was great. Room was clean. Pool was lovely. Breakfast was fantastic too. Can’t think of one negative thing honestly !

The entire hotel looked run down. It was well past it's prime. Breakfast was far from edible. I will not stay at a Comfort Suites/Inn again.

Great place, great value. I didnt like that the pool didnt open until 11am leaving kids unable to get morning time in pool which pushed plans back. Good hot breakfast but served biscuits and gravy without biscuits.
