The best possible experience. Beautiful property, large, comfortable room, outstanding swimming pool and lounge-dining/areas. It was the perfect quiet refuge just a 10 minute hike into bustling Sarlat. Christine could not have been a more helpful or professional host. We will recommend Hotel Bon Encontre to all without hesitation and hope to return.

Could not have been happier with our hotel choice. Yes it’s up an incline, 7 minutes down, 15 back up but it’s worth it. Christina, the owner, could not have done any more, she is a fantastic tour guide and offered great recommendations on where to eat. Rooms are decent size and the pool are is great.

Stayed at this lovely little hotel for 5 days. This cosy hotel is well organised and the rooms are spacious and clean. Nice swimming pool and lovely breakfast. The hotel is in a quit area of Sarlat, only a 10 min walk from the medieval center. Mme Christine made us feel very welcome and helped us to plan our stay, so we would see the most of this beautiful part of France.

Used the hotel for an overnight stay en route to Spain. Will certainly be back for a longer visit. A lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, in beautiful surroundings. Christina made us feel very welcome. A great breakfast, complete with local produce and homemade walnut cake.

Nous avons passé deux nuits dans cet établissement. Nous avons été très bien reçus. La propriétaire nous a renseignés pour les restaurants, les beaux villages de la région etc.. What a wonderful experience! The room was very European, not like a large room in an American chain hotel. The location was perfect for us as it was peaceful and surrounded by nature, but a short walk into the historic district. The walk is up and down a somewhat steep hill. The highlight of our stay was our host, Christine, who was informative, kind, helpful, and full of energy. Since we don’t speak French, we appreciated Christine’s English skills in both speaking and understanding. We stayed three nights, but we wish it could have been longer!

Helt igennem sublimt ophold på alle måder. Vi følte os utrolig godt taget imod af værten, som samtidigt gav gode inputs til spisesteder og turistmål. Sarlat byder på mange muligheder som giver en prioritering på hvilke mål man skal nå i forhold den tid man har afsat på området…

This place is great, beautiful all around. I will be back. If you´re going by train, do call Christine, the owner, in advance. If she can, she will pick you up at la gare. Otherwise you have to download Sarlat´s taxi cab application before going, because there is no Uber nor a normal taxi service in town. Walking to the hotel from the Centre Ville will take around 10 minutes and it´s uphill. From la gare...maybe 20... but with luggage it can be hard. Ohh! Do sign up for breakfast and Christine´s amazing brownies and listen carefully to her recommendations. She really knows her region and will advise you wisely.

Overall, it was a pleasant base for our three-day trip to Dordogne. Our lovely host, Christine, was welcoming and helpful in recommending places to visit and restaurants to try, and the breakfast she prepared was delicious. The room was clean and functional.

Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous view. Great location for touring the stunning villages of the Dordogne. The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. I have already recommended this property to another couple.

This place is great, beautiful all around. I will be back. If you´re going by train, do call Christine, the owner, in advance. If she can, she will pick you up at la gare. Otherwise you have to download Sarlat´s taxi cab application before going, because there is no Uber nor a normal taxi service in town. Walking to the hotel from the Centre Ville will take around 10 minutes and it´s uphill. From la gare...maybe 20... but with luggage it can be hard. Ohh! Do sign up for breakfast and Christine´s amazing brownies and listen carefully to her recommendations. She really knows her region and will advise you wisely.

Stayed at this lovely little hotel for 5 days. This cosy hotel is well organised and the rooms are spacious and clean. Nice swimming pool and lovely breakfast. The hotel is in a quit area of Sarlat, only a 10 min walk from the medieval center. Mme Christine made us feel very welcome and helped us to plan our stay, so we would see the most of this beautiful part of France.

Agréable séjour lors d'un passage sur Sarlat. Idéalement situé a 10 mn a pied du centre ville (ou il est impossible de se garer) par un petit chemin conseillé par la patronne. Hotel très calme sur les hauteurs de Sarlat.

L'accueil fût excellent, la gérante prenant le temps de nous conseiller pour les sorties : très disponible. Le petit-déjeuner n'était pas un buffet, mais complet. Charcuterie, fromages du coin, salade de fruits, gâteaux en plus des yaourts viennoiseries et confitures traditionnels. Différents chaque jour, on voudrait rester plus longtemps pour en goûter davantage. Le seul hic, le prix ? 14€

Used the hotel for an overnight stay en route to Spain. Will certainly be back for a longer visit. A lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, in beautiful surroundings. Christina made us feel very welcome. A great breakfast, complete with local produce and homemade walnut cake.

We have been in France for about 2 weeks, staying in a variety of places and I feel like we hit a home run with our stay at Hotel Bon Encontre. Christine is an extremely accommodating host who worked very hard to meet guests' needs. The hotel is in a wonderfully central location for exploring Dordogne. There is ample parking, which was a relief after fighting for parking spaces elsewhere! Breakfast includes cheeses and meats, breads and a different sweet treat baked in house. It's a very reasonable cost. We happened to visit when the temperature soared into the 90s, so cooling off in the pool was a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours before dinner. I would highly recommend this location!

Very comfortable stay in this hilltop hotel with excellent sunset view. Highlight of the stay was of course the most lovely, friendly and helpful host, Christine. It felt more like a stay at her home and being pampered by her.
