We have visited the hotel over 20 times in the last 15 years and it has been comfortable and relaxing. This time was different. The room was half the size of the ones on our previous visits and appeared to be a single room as there was only one chair at the table, one dressing gown and one set of towels. The receptionist disputed this. The mattress should have been replaced five years ago and the pillows were brick hard. Maintenance wasn't as good as before with a loose tap and loose toilet seat in the public loo as examples. Breakfast was as good as before but the rest of the meals were not of the same standard as before. Most of the staff remain the same and are lovely and friendly.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and it was attended to daily, with the mineral water replenished each day. The only very minor issue I experienced was that the room became quite cold as the weather changed. I had to ask the staff to turn the heating on in my room, which I found slightly unusual for the middle of October. However, the staff were very attentive and dealt with this promptly, as they did with any other queries I had during my stay. Another very minor observation was that there wasn’t a bin in the foyer. On one occasion, I had to ask the receptionist if I could dispose of some rubbish in her bin. I had breakfast and an evening meal each day and could not fault the food. The restaurant staff were lovely, friendly and seemed to have time for everyone. I also noticed them taking particular care to assist guests who had mobility difficulties, which was very nice to see. My only concern during my stay was one afternoon when I was seated in the foyer. I saw four youths come down the stairs and begin trying to open doors. It was apparent that they were not there for any legitimate reason. As I kept an eye on them, they soon left the building. Unfortunately, there were no security staff nearby at the time, and the receptionists were busy assisting guests who we
