It was so cool! Although the rooms were small it was so artsy, comfy bed, cool color Change lighting in the shower, yummy breakfast options, fun vibe on the rooftop bar and lobby areas.

The property is convenient to the wharf and the national moment but parking was insanely difficult.

Great choice & will come back again if I’m traveling with one other person. Since this hotel only has single king sized beds, it’s not great for families…which is evident in some of the non family friendly hotel decor. I did however enjoy staying at this unique hotel as it really stands out such as: -Great quiet location 3min walk to Metro. Starbucks, McD’s was walkable. Safe area to stay. Very clean & new -They provided free filtered iced water in glass bottles that you can grab. If you brought your own bottle you can fill it up at a chilled filtered water/sparkling station. -While the room is small they provide space for storage in an under the bed drawer that fit my entire carry on luggage opened in it. We enjoyed using the iPad to control the room from blackout shades, lighting & temp control. There was also an option to screen cast via their QR code so you can watch your streaming services without needing to sign into them & remembering to sign out before you leave. The King bed was comfortable & had a great view of the Capital building when looking out the window. -checking in & out was easy. They had an attendant but it was all done on an iPad & you even make your own key card. It was really easy & one thing that I’ve never seen before is they ask you on screen of your floor preferences. I chose higher floor with a view. Checkout was also super easy. They had multiple attendants checking luggage to hold for guests who check out but have plans to travel later.

The micro room was exactly what we wanted. Only 3 blocks (maybe) from the mall, it was situated very well. We walk everywhere and this location was excellent for walking. The room is small (intentionally), clean, progressive, and quiet. The use of an iPad to control all aspects of the room was novel to us. The gym was the best I've seen in any hotel. The only problem we encountered was that the hotel charger for the iPad didn't work; we used our own charger for that purpose. Excellent experience.

We stayed for one night at this property. When we arrived only one elevator was working for an extended period of time, so we had to wait in the lobby to get to our room (on the top floor), for about 30 minutes due to backup of other people. While cool looking, the room we received had issues with the air conditioning not working. The room we were transferred to after complaining about the Air conditioning was better, but was leaking water from the unit above creating puddles on the floor. Additionally, the use of technology was cool, but I would like to have the ability to specifically turn on certain lights without all the others or a specific "setting" and that couldn't happen.

the hotel is very eye catching. its well decorated and the staff are attentive but I have a few complaints that are important. first one being parking I spent over 150$ on a 2 night stay her just for parking which I was not informed that I would have to do. secondly upon entering the room I noticed there was no way of heating up my food i.e no microwave/no utensils/no implements. I then proceeded to go downstairs to try and find a bowl to use for my food then they said I would have to pay 22$ to take a bowl for the buffet back to my room. third complaint I have is almost every single door you come in contact with is extremely hard to open on top of having to swipe the keycard multiple times for it to register. fourth complaint the AC in my room didn't work the entire stay. next complaint I have the tv kept getting interrupted and and shutting off the room also did not have an adequate trash can the only one they provided could only fit 2 banana peels. next the gym equipment two treadmills were taken so I got on the free one to find that it was broken so then I switch to the stair master to find that was broken as well. that's all I have to say about my stay unfortunately I will not be returning.

It could use its own parking garage because there was only 6 parking spots in front of the hotel and so I had to pay $52 a night to park in the garage

The property itself is nice. The staff greeted me with excitement and helped me check in- the only issue is a few dirty spots in my room. The red ottoman or stool is soiled badly and needs to be replaced. Otherwise the sink and bathroom area is clean.

Good location, relatively new building but rooms are very small. Also my room wasn’t made/cleaned during my stay, which I found disappointing.

Pro's The staff was very nice. Con's The temperature could not be regulated in the room. Did not receive any washcloths until we asked for them. The shower door (it was a stand-up shower) did not extend down to the bottom of the shower, and water leaked everywhere. The "refrigerator" was in a drawer under the sink and did not keep anything cold. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as there was no box spring. The mattress was sitting on plywood. Additionally, the bed only contained a bottom sheet and a comforter. We were on the 10th floor and it was extremely hot. The comforter, coupled with the inability to adjust the room temperature, made for very unpleasant sleeping arrangements.

Got so many bug bites from the bed. Other than that it was a good stay, but that alone kills it!

Loved this hotel! Clean, unique, and convenient.

This hotel is really cool. You can control everything in the room with the iPad provided in the room. The rooms are small. I would compare them to a cruise ship room, but we were fine with that. The beds and pillows are really comfortable. The only thing I didn’t like was that there is no mini fridge. There is a cooler that looks like a fridge, but it isn’t. Other than that, it was awesome and I will definitely stay again!

The room was clean, sharp, well designed. Not much privacy when using toilet. Best if single traveler or for a short stay. A/C could not keep room cool enough.

The staff was excellent. Never had a complaint about any of them. What I do have complaints about are the overall hotel conditions. An elevator was out for the full three days we were there. The bathroom door in the room didn't close which is problematic for a room that small. Someone came up to fix it and it seemed good but stopped closing again an hour later. The sink was very slow to drain. The air conditioning did not work well enough. The room just could not get properly cool. They desperately need some kind of fans for air movement in summer. Also there is a weird lip in the floor that's easy to trip over. It's a cheap hotel so I'm not expecting luxury. But having to call for wash cloths is silly. No way they cost enough money to not just be in the room. It is getting to the point where the cost is being outweighed by the rest of the experience. Pro tip. When you check in immediately get an ice bucket and stick it in the room cooler. After a few hours it might actually keep a drink cool.

Clean, basic room very close to metro. However, no glasses or cups in room, no coffee maker and no way to get ice. Disappointing.

The hotel was fun, very conveniently located to the National Mall and other sites. The tech they incorporated worked well (controlling things in the room with an app or ipad). The only thing I would change is a little more privacy between the bathroom and main area in the room itself.

The hotel is designed with maximum efficiency in mind—compact, functional rooms that make smart use of space. I’d likely give it 5 stars, but the layout of the king-size bed was a drawback. One side of the bed is pushed directly against the window, making it accessible from only one side. This setup could be inconvenient, especially for older guests or couples who need to get up during the night. Something to keep in mind before booking.

I was really curious about the bed and how hotel services could make up something that was built-in. I was sure there must be a way that it slid away from the wall. But there wasn't and when leaving we passed a room that was being made up and found the maid crawling on the bed to get the bottom sheet on! There was no issue with a top sheet because there wasn't one. Just a comforter which was too hot for my husband. The hotel was quite nice but seems to be designed for the younger set or single travelers and not for older folks that may need to get up during the night to use the bathroom. Several times my husband had to crawl over me to get in and out of bed. Perhaps a queen size bed placed vertically to the window with room to move on each side would be better for some. I would also liked to have had washcloths to use. The shampoo/soap/conditioner were nice and left my hair feeling soft. We could have used a sign on the elevator explaining how to use your room card to work the elevator. Other guests explained it for us. The location was perfect and the area was quiet except for faint music playing somewhere at night. A short walk to the metro made our stay better than expected. We loved the compact design of the room which is all that is needed on a busy trip to DC. Just a place to shower and sleep. And the room darkeneing blinds are just that. I couldn't believe how late it was when I woke up!!! I would definitely stay here again. Especially now that I know how things work.

Room was clean, small but think that's the idea. No face cloths, just 2 hand towels and 2 towels. Restaurant and microwave location and times could be posted (for hot food). Love the large window, and blackout when needed. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I was looking to change out of a noisy room. I asked the staff two nights about it. Other guests were checking in and checking out. Given the turnover, I would have expected that the staff would be able to move me. I offered to move my things out of the and check out early. The staff did not make an effort to accommodate but simply said I should return in person during the day and keep trying throughout the day.

Beautiful hotel. The entire staff were extremely friendly and very helpful . Loved everything about the hotel and this experience. Debbie and Idriss were both so great!

Impossible to get a hold of anyone at the property. Requested info about AC status given reviews of HVAC being down and wanting to cancel our stay. Now being told via WhatsApp that hotel never received our contact attempts despite email confirmations of them being sent and therefore cant refund our trip even with timestamped emails proving attempts were made.

Far exceed my expectations. The customer service is what really set apart the stay, the front desk staff was exceptional and the amenities more than I expexted, eg shower caps!

The bed is a platform bed against the wall so you have to climb over each other to get out. Extremely small, tight quarters for getting ready. The person at the sink has to move if someone is going in or out of the bathroom. The staff seem more interested in talking to each other and hanging out than helping guests. Very disappointing for the quality of service we usually receive in downtown DC. We would never book ourselves or recommend to anyone the Citizen M experience.

It’s part of the business district so not much in the way of lunch IMMEDIATE but CENTRAL to everything as long as your willing to walk. Thirty minutes in any direction got me where I wanted to be.

Very close to national mall!

Location was amazing. Close to restaurants, museums, and the heart of the city. The room size is decent a little more on the smaller side but very clean and designed nice.

First time travelling to DC. Found this location a short walk from the train station coming from the airport. A short walk to the wharf, and a slightly longer walk to the National Mall. Lots of ebikes in the area to help with faster transportation. Bed was comfortable. Room was small but well planned.

The hotel is located right in the middle of the national mall and the boardwalk and metro station is right across the street..It cost me less than five dollars to get from the DCA airport to this hotel.

Great place to stay while you’re in D.C. It’s also close to a lot of the museums! Rooms are very nice and clean!

The staff was very nice but this was located in a business area. Also the wharf was only 10 mins away on foot.

Location is excellent; 5min to Metro, <15min from the monument, and minutes away from Smithsonian museums. The room is small (larger end of interior staterooms from cruise ships) but it's efficient, well thought out, and utilizes IoT (lighting and white noise control) to make it feel it's not so compressed. Mini fridge, safe, cabinet drawers are all there (just tucked away) and the shower, given its size was surprisingly usable. It's got a hostel "DIY" feel tho, from check in to check out, so travelers who don't like that may be turned off. But we didn't mind and thought that's what's keeping the price reasonable. We didn't utilize the hotel's $24 breakfast buffet because the coffee shop down the street seemed more reasonable.

Got what you paid for. Very modern. Room clean, staff helpful, excellent location for sight seeing. Would recommend for a city break.

The staff is very helpful all around. Breakfast was good with lox and thick cut bacon. Hotel is chic and modern and that includes the rooms. Very clean with laminate in the room and there is a modular feel. I really like how helpful and friendly the front staff are. The bar downstairs and 24/7 hour dining is very convenient. The menu is good and so is the food.

The hospitality from the breakfast staff, by far has been the best service I received in the last 10 years and I travel at least three times a month in the last 10 years. The spirit in the energy of the young people that were serving me this morning was exhilarating. I will come back just for that breakfast and for their smiles

Great hotel at a great price. Very close to the L’Enfant Metro station, the Air & Space Museum, and about a 12-minute walk from the Wharf. Rooms are small (about the size of a standard cruise ship cabin), but thoughtfully-designed. They include a hair dryer, but no coffee or tea. I didn’t find the latter problematic and this is not meant as a complaint, merely an observation. The bed is comfortable. The room is an appropriate size for one person or a couple. Be sure to check out the room photos online before booking so you know what you’re getting. It’s very European—I’d definitely stay here again.

Free coffee at least in the lobby would be helpful, since most other hotels offer it in the hotel room.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room, although very small, was smartly designed. The food in the canteen was awful. Nobody seemed to know for sure how the sushi rooftop bar worked for guests at the hotel. Some people said we couldn’t go up there without a reservation and others told us we could go out there but we couldn’t eat there. There is actually a menu you can eat off of without a reservation in the sushi was very good and the view was beautiful.
