Hotel St Leonards

There are 2 hotels on this site - the Hotel St Leonards and the Greenwich hotel at the back of the block. We were advised we needed to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs as there was no life (my fault for not checking) but they had a room where we only had to go up one flight of stairs. We accepted that room which turned out to be in the Greenwich hotel at the back of the block. The room was basic - the floor creaked loud enough to wake the dead but as we were above the hotel carpark we didn't disturb anyone. There were no towel rails or hooks so when you used the towel you needed to hang it on the back of the chair or lay it on the bed. The dead-bolt was not attached and the security chain was broken off - this should have sent warning bells but I must have been more tired than I thought. Around midnight we had someone going up and down the corridor banging on the doors and yelling - obviously someone let them in because the banging stopped but then the music started! around 1am I called the Manager (I really didn't expect the get through but the Manager answered - I told her the problem and she came down and asked the people to stop the music - they did for about 30 minutes but then they started singing. My husband fixed the security chain and we put chairs in front of the door - I was definitely concerned for our safety. We had booked for 2 nights but only stayed 1. The Manager was great and offered us a different room but we just wanted to get out of there.

Parking issue

The hot water in my shower didn’t work, so after already being there one night and most of the next day and and 3 times of advising the staff, my partner, our 5 year old and myself then had to shower in another room just so we could go out for dinner. There is only 10 parking spots for a facility that has 35 rooms, I think that is ridiculous and the back parking is extremely small and difficult to park in. It is very limited in what’s available kitchenette wise

Breakfast set up probably the best part of the motel. Might as well say there is no parking. I had to drive around for half hour looking for a park and had to pay for parking.

There was no parking available at night.

The parking was too difficult due to narrow space.

Car parking was problematic but OK BUT any cars that arrived after us would have a problem

Our room was in the smaller building behind the main building, up narrow, unclean stairs. On the inside of the door to the room the lock, the door chain and door closer were all coming away from the door - secutity was a joke. The carpet was threadbare and filthy. One of the bathroom walls had 3 holes in it, 2 were partially filled. The soap which the previous guests had used was left in the bathroom, and the towels they had used and hung in the closet to dry, because there was nowhere else to hang them, were still there. The curtain was coming off its rails. Parking in the hotel's garage was an extremely tight fit. This was a very dissapointing experience, particularly as the hotel was advertised as recently renovated and cleanliness was so poor.

Staff were friendly and courteous. The room was neat and clean. The building is a bit old fashioned but it has been refreshed well. Location was our main concern so a 10 minute walk to the station was ideal. A great stay for the price.

This is a good stay on lower noth shore, Basic but clean, comfortable and well serviced. Breakfast and free parking was a bonus. This is my go to stay when in sydney

Bedroom had damaged walls and ceiling in bathroom was moldy

No frills hotel. Clean and good

Friendly receptionist. Room requires repair to wall. Bathroom requires mould cleaning. Otherwise ok for cheap motel in city.

The property was very clean staff helpful & courteous, obviously budget but it fulfilled all my needs which were- pricing,cleanliness & a convenient location & breakfast - budget but quite adequate.

Clean and comfortable, with everything you need, close to St Leonards station and shops in Crow's Nest. Easy check-inand checkout. The only minor gripe I had is that the kettle couldn't fit under the tap in the sink.

The location and cost were both good points. It was a short walk into St Leonards, where I had a dinner planned. The cleanliness of the room was a big letdown. While generally, the room was clean and tidy; the bathroom looked not to have been cleaned since the last guest had stayed. The shower had the previous guests used bars of soap (with public hair embedded into it), as well as the previous guests used shampoo and conditioner disposable tubes (half empty).

The room was so small, we paid $159 a night. And you coulnt move with 2 people. You walked in the door and nearly fell ober the bed The shower was small that you could hardly turn around breakfast was cook your own toast, fruit wasnt fress. Will not go there again

Needs another coat of fresh paint inside my room. Needs a new bed/mattress. A/C loud and in competition with outside traffic (no double glazing on windows needed due to proximity of Pacific Hwy traffic). In summary: Not a pleasant experience. Parking... Well words fail me!

Lovely property. Clean and convenient. But the mattresses are like concreate . To hard to sleep on . The carpet is softer .

Small room for a small price ac worked bed comfortable hot water

Was very disappointed Room dirty. Parking tradie took all the parking in the morning. Very difficult to go in and out from due to being right on the lights. The breakfast was terrible, not even pot of coffee just sachets of cheap nasty coffee. Lucky I brought an eye mask to block out the light. Air conditioner old and cover in dust. Pillows lumpy. Was woken by noise outside, room aren’t soundproof.

Whilst the room was very comfortable it was extremely noisy because of the hotel’s i location right on the Pacific Highway. Parking was challenging due to tight spaces. The price was very reasonable yet I will not be staying again due to my total lack of sleep.

It's a budget hotel so I didn’t expect too much but the room was pretty run down and also noisy, from bith the road out front and from other guests getting to their rooms.

This was likely the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Checked in and got to the room and it was absolutely filthy. The counter had significant food stuck to it, the walls were gross and the bed was full of hair and discolouration that leads me to believe it hadn't been washed. There was garbage in the halls and the carpets were really dirty. A movie playing in a room across the hall was so loud everything could be heard from our room. Tried to get help from reception but they closed just after check in. Tried calling but no answer. Finally, left and found another hotel. Requested a refund through Expedia as it was a multi-night booking but no refund given.

Receptionist seemed annoyed I interrupted her game of Candy Crush. Gave me a room that hadn’t been made up. Then gave me one that was on the highway with a window that wouldn’t close and had the big fluro light shining in as the curtain doesn’t cover it properly due to the ancient air con which lets in a lot of noise. All windows and glasses and cups were dirty, toiletries from the last guest still in the shower and over pungent ‘air freshener scents’ in all the hallways. Sheets stained too and TV broken

We parked on Bellevue Street when there was no available parking :) I moved the microwave next to the bed and the kettle to the bathroom as I found no other available powerpoint. The fridge was also turned off. Nevertheless, it is peaceful, convenient, there is a bus nearby to Wynyard and it is walking distance to St. Leonards Train Station! Very handy to have breakfast available :) Both cleaning and reception staff, including Trinny, have been very kind and helpful.

We booked for 31st December but we arrived late at night around 11pm. But they put off keys at room. We entered comfortably. Check in and check out process were amazing and smooth as well.

Young lady on the desk was very welcoming. Accommodation clean, tidy and comfortable for two people. Aircon old & works. Breakfast provided I couldn’t enjoy it as I had be at the RNSP hospital at 7am. Hospital only 400m up the road with pedestrian crossing lights. Main highway noise was not intrusive. There some cafe only closed late in the afternoon. Urbun hotel next door has dining available.

Staying there was fine for the price. It was what you would expect. I rang up to ask a question. They put me on hold for 30 minutes. I rang back again and they took my call straight away

Surprisingly quiet for being on a busy road. The room was comfortable and an easy walk to a variety of dining options and the train station.

This is a great hotel, very close to RNS Hospital, St Leonards railway station, and eateries etc. Rooms are neat and tidy, a bit small but livable, with the option of a free continental breakfast in a small attachment near the main building.

Found online picture of outside misleading and thought it was more a hostel type accommodation, but at last minute booked one night and was pleasantly surprised with the room which had been updated. Location is unbeatable if you are going RNSH each day. For price for room is good , but is small, but includes free parking and continental breakfast. Paid parking at RNSH is horrendous, so free parking at hotel was fantastic with a 5 min walk to hospital.

Value for the price. walking distance, for most, to RNS hospital. Free parking and free breakfast.

The property had mold in the bathroom, was loud due to the main street traffic, breakfast was very basic ( toast, cereal, milk, coffee) on the first day of staying the honey had ants in it. Location it good close to the train station. Will not stay again

Very limited options - white toast bread and dry cereals only. Apples provided. The facility was described as a Cafe - it is not - just a small room with tables and chairs and a plastic box to place dirty dishes.
