So I choose this hotel as a travel nurse because it had some of the things that I NEEDED and wanted. Upon arriving I found out that the laundry area was not in use for customers and hadnt been for awhile due to renovations. I have to be able to wash my uniforms and laundry. Then They closed the gym and i couldnt work out and had to get a gym membership. which I couldve looked last this. however, it took me three nights for me asking for rags to get one. and when i received one, it literally was a cut up dirty towel. I know different places have different terminology for things. so i clearly asked for a rag, wash rag, or rash cloth and told them I needed to take a shower and wash my body. it’s unacceptable to receive what they gave me. I wouldnt use it. I was even willing to look past the random persons strand of hair on the bed sheet and in the minifridge because I know hair can be everywhere. however, all of this together made the stay difficult. I would not have choose this hotel knowing what I do know. However I loved the area it was in. as a travel nurse I would've loved to stay in one place and not move around. However, I could not under these circumstances.

5 stars to the room. We stayed in the room with 3 queen beds. Loved that they didn’t have carpet flooring. Very nicely remodeled. 1 star to the hot water situation. We didn’t get to swim in the pool since it didn’t open until 10am which was a big bummer for my kids. It looked nice. The workout room was good with decent cardio equipment but one of the treadmills did not work and it took me rebooting the other one to make that one work. They are doing well with the updates so hopefully they continue to update! Loved that it was connected to the Ankeny Diner and that we got $5 off per person to eat there. Staff was very responsive whenever we had an issue.

Do not stay at this property. This property is a remodel this property had no pool towels for days. Customer service is not great. When I asked for pool towels they said they would not have any for a few days because no one is workin. construction going on.

The pool was unfortunately less than 75 degrees and the main reason we stayed was to let the kids swim. It was freezing. We also we repeatedly unable to get in our room due to the keys not working. The staff did their best to be helpful but overall the stay didn't turn out as we hoped.

It was a low price, but the building itself was tore apart and was dangerous to be walking around and confusing on where to go. We went up to the front office to get more towels for the room and the pool and was told that we were given the right number of towels for the room. The pool did not have any towels either…. We only had 2 towels in the room and had reserved the room for 3 people. Again with the low price kind of what expected. leak stains/mold in the bathroom, and we were poolside since I had a family member that could not go up the stairs. could hear all the screaming from the pool till 1100-1130 at night.

They have construction going on. Parking lot has pot holes all over it. Staff was very rude. There was no towels in the pool area, when asked the lady at front desk for towels lady got an attitude because she had to actually do something other than sit on her fat ass on the phone with whomever. I honestly will never stay there again with how disrespectful the owner was towards us.

Newly remodeling or still works in progress. Not bad. Bed was top notch. Pillows good. bath good. Good shower water pressure. Room Decor was hip and new. Window darkening shades: good. Pool space is good. Workout room- good. . The bad: Good grief. Fix these guest room doors! Put some weatherstripping around the door jambs. Nothing worse than seeing bright light shining around the doors all night. Had to stuff towels around the doors to darken room. Also: no door strike around the Onity keyless lockset. Come on guys. You just carved a hole into the jamb and left it. Totally unsecure. Also what's with the baby blue paint scheme on these doors and trim? Looks cheap, dated and crappy. The exterior side entrances are crap! Spend some money and replace these 1970's hunks of crap with decent aluminum storefront doors. All in all....You did some things good and then dropped the ball on the other items.

This place was disgusting, I wouldn’t even call it a motel. The staff was okay enough no spectacular service or anything but that wasn’t a big deal or really expected. I go into the room and right away it smells disgusting. It was supposed to be a no smoking room, but it reeked. I go to see the bed, and the pillow cases and well as the pillow and sheets have yellow stains and feel wet and smell like mildew. That’s only the start as the rug also had many stains and we haven’t even discussed the restroom yet. The restroom you can see black mold everywhere it was genuinely so disgusting as the tub is the shower would be budging out on the floor as it seemed like water was pooling up under the plastic or whatever it is. Oh and let’s not forget the dead roaches that I found as well. Genuinely such a horrible stay and would not recommend anyone to stay here as I felt so uncomfortable throughout the night and could not sleep peacefully. Worst stay ever ESPECIALLY considering the price is somewhat a premium for what was offered, absolutely regret booking this place. DO NOT BOOK HERE

Price was great, surrounding area of restaurants was great. So far as our room not the best leaking ceiling in the bathroom area where water was constantly puddling, mold behind the door. Room wasn’t the cleanest & the smell was not the best. There was kids running around the hotel constantly, so noise control was non existent.

This property was so nasty! I think it’s in the middle of renovation but they’re still renting the rooms. It was dirty, unfinished, bugs all over and the hallways smelled like mold/mildew.

First we found food in our fridge, we didnt say anything but in the back of our minds wondered what else in the place hadnt been cleaned. Then in the morning while lookimg for something saw that between the vanity and the wall there was a toothbrush, hanger, empty shampoo containers and other various garbage. Then as we went to leave for breakfast we realized the door latch was not functioning and our door would not close. Tried to call the front desk, the phone isnt even funtional, so I walked up there and the lady did not understand anything I was trying to tell her. First she thought I needed my key reprogrammed, and when I explained that the door wouldn't close, she had no help to offer except that maybe I was doing it wrong (closing a door wrong) and that she would let her manager know and someone would look at it. Tried to explain that we were trying to leave for breakfast and we couldnt just leave the door wide open with all of our belongings inside and the only part she heard was we were trying to leave. "Okay," and kept my key she was holding. We had to gether all our stuff and leave and after breakfast, we had no place to return to until our event started later that day.

I was glad to see that the rooms were way cleaner than the last time we stayed there! They have a huge remodel going on. Can't wait for it to be finished! Looks beautiful.

It ticked all the boxes. It’s obviously an older building, but it was clean, beds were comfortable, room had a mini fridge and microwave. Air conditioner took a while to get the room cooled off. Nothing spectacular but no complaints either.

Each bed came with two small pillows. We asked for extra pillows twice and did not get any. The shower had very low water pressure and did not drain. The outlet in the bathroom did not work. The place was fairly clean but not up to the expectations for the price.

Overall, it was OK. The other hotel we usually stay at was full. This is an older worn hotel that has a fresh coat of paint and new furnishings in the rooms. On the surface it looks good, but if you look close, you can tell it still needs some work. For example, doors, trim and woodworking are worn. I would stay here again, but it would not be my first choice.

Newly remodeling or still works in progress. Not bad. Bed was top notch. Pillows good. bath good. Good shower water pressure. Room Decor was hip and new. Window darkening shades: good. Pool space is good. Workout room- good. . The bad: Good grief. Fix these guest room doors! Put some weatherstripping around the door jambs. Nothing worse than seeing bright light shining around the doors all night. Had to stuff towels around the doors to darken room. Also: no door strike around the Onity keyless lockset. Come on guys. You just carved a hole into the jamb and left it. Totally unsecure. Also what's with the baby blue paint scheme on these doors and trim? Looks cheap, dated and crappy. The exterior side entrances are crap! Spend some money and replace these 1970's hunks of crap with decent aluminum storefront doors. All in all....You did some things good and then dropped the ball on the other items.

So I choose this hotel as a travel nurse because it had some of the things that I NEEDED and wanted. Upon arriving I found out that the laundry area was not in use for customers and hadnt been for awhile due to renovations. I have to be able to wash my uniforms and laundry. Then They closed the gym and i couldnt work out and had to get a gym membership. which I couldve looked last this. however, it took me three nights for me asking for rags to get one. and when i received one, it literally was a cut up dirty towel. I know different places have different terminology for things. so i clearly asked for a rag, wash rag, or rash cloth and told them I needed to take a shower and wash my body. it’s unacceptable to receive what they gave me. I wouldnt use it. I was even willing to look past the random persons strand of hair on the bed sheet and in the minifridge because I know hair can be everywhere. however, all of this together made the stay difficult. I was not impressed for the money I spent for three nights. Went to get a cup of coffee in the morning before breakfast and the coffee was cold. The front desk lady told me to pour another cup and it would be warmer. That wasn’t the case, it was colder than my first attempt. Then when I asked for more coffee pods for the room, it was like I was asking for something that was being rationed. Then we had an issue with the door to our room. The lady at the desk didn’t care. She even let me know when dealing with the door issue I had been to the desk to complain four times that morning, she was wrong, I’d been there only three times. When dealing with the door issue she was still consumed about me saying the coffee was cold. We did not get the bang for our buck. When checking out, we were not asked about our stay. The front desk lady was more concerned about her personal phone calls and being annoyed when we needed something. The didn’t offer a breakfast but offered a certificate for 5 dollars off breakfast at the restaurant in the same building. The front desk lady was annoyed when we asked for certificates every morning as she had to fill the certificate out. As I drove around Ankeny on a weekend, the hotel parking lots looked full, this one was the exception and was not.

Service was terrible at best. No one at front desk for over 20 minutes and then when he showed up gave us attitude for wanting to check in. We got the jacuzzi room with early shaped tub and water was luke warm and when you turned on jets nasty water that was rust colored and freezing came out.. DISGUSTING! At check out we were wanting to talk to someone and they walked by us 2-3 times never stopped at desk to check us out so I tossed room key on counter and left. 170.00 for this was insane..

First we found food in our fridge, we didnt say anything but in the back of our minds wondered what else in the place hadnt been cleaned. Then in the morning while lookimg for something saw that between the vanity and the wall there was a toothbrush, hanger, empty shampoo containers and other various garbage. Then as we went to leave for breakfast we realized the door latch was not functioning and our door would not close. Tried to call the front desk, the phone isnt even funtional, so I walked up there and the lady did not understand anything I was trying to tell her. First she thought I needed my key reprogrammed, and when I explained that the door wouldn't close, she had no help to offer except that maybe I was doing it wrong (closing a door wrong) and that she would let her manager know and someone would look at it. Tried to explain that we were trying to leave for breakfast and we couldnt just leave the door wide open with all of our belongings inside and the only part she heard was we were trying to leave. "Okay," and kept my key she was holding. We had to gether all our stuff and leave and after breakfast, we had no place to return to until our event started later that day.

We did a quick little getaway with my family. We had a room with 3 beds. Overall the room was okay. The heater kept shutting off the 1st night and our door broke where it wouldn't latch without deadbolting it. The front desk ladybwas hard to understand and was kinda rude. I wasn't really impressed with quality of service. They have the Ankeny Diner attached to hotel and they gave you vouchers for breakfast there, wasn't super impressed with that either. When we got there the pool was refilling so we couldn't swim that 1st night. The 2nd night we went to go swim and it was ice cold. My 18 month olds fingers, toes, and lips started to turn blue. So we had to go back to our room and "swim" in the bathtub. We tried to make the best of it. They day we left the house keeper was SO SWEET to my kiddos and made us all smile. We adored her!

This motel was the cleanest motel I have stayed in recent months. The lawns were clean even though they had some restorations going on. It was quiet both inside and outside despite being close to the Interstate and busy street. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had ants come into our room over night in the bathroom through the wall and in the bedroom all over one bed and the nightstand. When I went to the desk to complain, the non english speaking attendant couldn't help me in any way. Spoke on her phone with the hotel manager and not even an apology or anything. I will never stay at this hotel or a Ramada again.

Price was great, surrounding area of restaurants was great. So far as our room not the best leaking ceiling in the bathroom area where water was constantly puddling, mold behind the door. Room wasn’t the cleanest & the smell was not the best. There was kids running around the hotel constantly, so noise control was non existent.

The name changed to Wyndham Garden, which made it confusing to find. Changing hands meant remodel on outside was in progress, with no sign for “lobby”, but very clean and fresh inside. Comfortable for a short night before catching an early flight.

Checking in was hard to understand the clerk at the front desk. There was remodeling going on but that is no excuse for the halls and dining room not to be clean. Access to eating places was decent. No Coffee maker in room but coffee packets. My son asked for extra pillows and there were none. Price was reasonable.

We've been having a friends reunion here for the past 6 years. Was excited to see the hotel's remodel transformation. It was really needed. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable and it's nice having a great restaurant and bar attached!

There was heavy construction in the parking lot and inside the hotel, right near the pool. The TV remote didn't work and neither did it's replacement. No breakfast offered. Diner attached to the hotel was expensive for subpar food. Even when not busy staff at diner was very slow. When I filed complaint with hotels.com the hotel staff brushed off my issues and didn't do anything

5 stars to the room. We stayed in the room with 3 queen beds. Loved that they didn’t have carpet flooring. Very nicely remodeled. 1 star to the hot water situation. We didn’t get to swim in the pool since it didn’t open until 10am which was a big bummer for my kids. It looked nice. The workout room was good with decent cardio equipment but one of the treadmills did not work and it took me rebooting the other one to make that one work. They are doing well with the updates so hopefully they continue to update! Loved that it was connected to the Ankeny Diner and that we got $5 off per person to eat there. Staff was very responsive whenever we had an issue.

Room wasn’t swept so probably not mopped either, hallway carpets were really gross and the hall had an unpleasant odor. The staff wasn’t super friendly but were helpful when asked. The pool was really nice and the best part of the place. I’d stay again in a pinch but for 200 bucks a night and a bit of a drive to Des Moines proper, I’d expect a bit more effort with cleaning and amenities.

The price was very reasonable, and one of the biggest positives was that we were able to get a room with three beds, which is surprisingly difficult to find. The room itself had been updated, and the A/C worked very well and kept the room nice and cold. The lobby staff were also friendly and welcoming. That said, the hotel felt more like a 2-star property than a 3-star hotel. The shower did not work properly, which was frustrating. Even more concerning, when we pulled back the covers we discovered dirty socks in one of the beds that did not belong to us. That made us question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. There was also an exterior door at the opposite end of the building from the lobby with a broken lock that could not be secured, which was concerning from a safety standpoint. Overall, the reasonable price and availability of a three-bed room were major positives, and the room had some nice updates. However, the cleanliness issue, broken shower, and unsecured exterior door were significant enough that I would have expected better from a 3-star hotel.
The price was very reasonable, and one of the biggest positives was that we were able to get a room with three beds, which is surprisingly difficult to find. The room itself had been updated, and the A/C worked very well and kept the room nice and cold. The lobby staff were also friendly and welcoming. That said, the hotel felt more like a 2-star property than a 3-star hotel. The shower did not work properly, which was frustrating. Even more concerning, when we pulled back the covers we discovered dirty socks in one of the beds that did not belong to us. That made us question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. There was also an exterior door at the opposite end of the building from the lobby with a broken lock that could not be secured, which was concerning from a safety standpoint. Overall, the reasonable price and availability of a three-bed room were major positives, and the room had some nice updates. However, the cleanliness issue, broken shower, and unsecured exterior door were significant enough that I would have expected better from a 3-star hotel.

The bathroom was very dirty, both the tub and the jacuzzis especially. There also was not clean soap there was just a used bar from the previous tenant. The bathroom door couldn’t be opened all the way because of the toilet blocking it. There was trash by the beds when we arrived. Overall was just very dirty.
