Garner Hotel Preston Samlesbury by IHG

This hotel was great, good customer service and friendly staff. The young boy sitting at night was very proactive and helped as much as he could. Hotel was clean, good parking spaces, good sized room, nice bathrooms. Breakfast was good too. Just a small suggestion, if a light could be put in the extra car park, as it’s a little dark at night.

Modern if characterless hotel where everything is just nice, nothing outstanding. Dinner was order at the bar from a limited menu but food was good, service less so with only one guy doing everything. He was less-than-content and let it show. Room was cold but otherwise comfortable, with everything I needed for 1 night. In a word: adequate.

The hotel is a 15 minute drive from the centre of preston.... the lobby is modern and clean and the reception staff friendly. Our room was a good size freshly painted and clean, free wifi a bonus. We were disappointed to find the restaurant and fitness suite closed when we arrived, we should have been informed before we got there as we planned on using these facilities and the main reason we chose the hotel. There was no milk with the coffee making facilities and sparsely stocked coffee/tea. The breakfast was delicious.... buffet style, hot and fresh and the restaurant is lovely and staff friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoyed our stay, value for money and booked again for Christmas time, hopefully all facilities will be open then.

It was supposed to be a privilege room - no soap in dispenser by sink or in the shower. Lift out of order and coffee machine out of order. Gym is small but good equipment. Not sure that it felt value for money. 3 out of 5.

Easy check in, rooms ok and plenty of space. Good free wifi. No problem parking. Gym a bit old and tired but a nice surprise

Plenty of parking, pleasant reception, easy check in experience. Lift not working during our visit. Our room was clean, and had an iron, hairdryer and kettle. Unfortunately the only full length mirror was cracked from one side to the other and taped, one of the hand towels was really badly stained and the bottom of the bathroom door and architrave had peeling paint. Restaurant area was very plush and clean. Breakfast was buffet style with basic options, hash browns chewy from being kept warm, coffee lukewarm. We purchased coffee from the bar the previous afternoon and this was good, served by a friendly member of Staff. We had an enjoyable stay here and would recommend the Hotel.

The food in the restaurant was limited in the evening with no real healthy options and we waited a while though an apology was offered. The breakfast buffet had limited options unless a cooked breakfast was offered, and as we were eating at the start of the last hour of service some of the food options must have been there a while. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. There were plenty of car park spaces. We would stay again if we needed to, and would recommend to others depending on requirements.

A steady clean hotel away from the hustle of the city centre. The staff were super friendly, special mention to Kiran on the check in desk. The room was tight for space but as it was only a one night stay that was perfectly acceptable. The bed was really comfy. The only thing I would knock it for would be there was a lot of dust around the TV area. The gym area looked neat and tidy, I didn’t use them as I’d used a gym in the city prior to arrival. The restaurant area had a nice feel to it even though there were few guests. I ordered a steak burger with chips and a drink, came to approx £23 which was reasonable. Breakfast was everything you’d expect from a buffet style breakfast. A selection of hot and cold food and drinks including continental style. Overall a comfortable stay and I would stay again.

Nice hotel with lots of parking and very friendly staff at reception. Gym was OK but no water and the lift was broken so bags had to be carried up to the second floor. Breakfast wasn't included either and the hotel is a little tired. OK for one night however.

Decent clean hotel with ample parking decent food etc good little gym . Ok value for money I think hotels are getting silly in general in the uk sorry . Wifi wasn’t as good as flips be in a 4 star hotel .

Dirty pillowcases on the bed, No tea or sugar in the room had not been stocked up or room cleaned from previous guests, Hair in the beans and scrambled egg at breakfast was put off so didnt eat, double bed was two singles pished together not what we wanted so not exactly ideal feel like ive wasted my money, would not return

Carpet iñ the room was dirty and clearly hadn't been vacuumed before or during my stay. Had a meal in restaurant first night and moved the unused cutlery and napkin to one side. Sat at same table following night and cutlery and napkin were still exactly as left previous night, along with small sauce spillage. Floor was not swept either. If this is the cleaning regime front of house I dread to think what the kitchen might be like. Place doesn't appear to have been updated in the last 20 years. Bathrooms are OK but some rooms need some good maintenance.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, who couldn’t do enough for you. Had to change room on arrival due to poor cleanliness, but this was dealt with swiftly which ending in a room upgrade, because there was no house keeping staff available. Stayed for 2 nights, on second day no room service received.

The bed had snot on the sheet which was disgusting! To make matters worse there was a hair fried up with the mushrooms at breakfast. This makes me think the place definitely isnt the cleanest!

The shower plug was clogged so water was pouring out and onto the floor where there is no drain and a leak under shower seal. Black mould above shower on the ceiling. Breakfast wasnt very well cooked through. Staff didnt bother to do a check out told us to leave the card on the desk.

Really Clean , staff super helpful. Room comfortable and had lots of amenities. Only downsides was noise from other rooms waking us up early. We had breakfast on one day and found that by the time we had arrived the hot buffet section was lacking

My room was not serviced on the second day. No air conditioning

Very noisy! Kept awake by screaming children, banging doors and arguing till 2am. Night desk, talked to culprits and eventually got some sleep

Lovely staff. Comfortable room. Gym was satisfactory. Bar and restaurant were a nice atmosphere. Hotel was very warm with no air con.

Told i could book in early over the phone when i called. When i arrived was an extra £20. The room card i was given didnt work. The room itself was okay but the table looked dilapidated as did the exterior of the property with “bwfc forever” written in the dirt of one of the flower pots. Overall it was okay for one - two nights. Quite noisy at night. Could hear quite a bit going on lots of banging and shouting but I suppose thats more the guests that the hotels fault.

Clearly the hotel has been just taken over, and it felt like the new people weren't quite up to speed. A couple of times it took a while for staff to eppear when needed. The buffet breakfast on Saturday morning was very bad for this and a group of us had to wait quite a while for food to turn up. Sure: it's a busy time, but part of the job here is to anticipate and deal with demand. I also didn't get on with the mattress and struggled to sleep.

It was a solo fishing trip. The hotel was fine for that and a full breakfast was useful to set me up for the day. The only downside I would say was that both times I have stayed here I noticed that the bar can be unattended for long periods and the bell to alert the bar staff doesn't work. Other than that the hotel is perfectly acceptable with comfy beds.

We booked months in advance with Hotels.com When we arrived there was no booking details for us! So they created a booking - just a good job it wasn’t full otherwise what would we do? Then there was no heating on in the room, and the shower was cold! The bed was uncomfortable and then in the morning we arrived for breakfast in plenty of time but they were only taking orders and no buffet breakfast available! Sadly, pretty poor all round for a booking made well in advance!

Really nice hotel, we checked in early and Kiran sorted out finding us a room that was available so we didn't have to check in later on when we got back in. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was great with Claire making sure we were well looked after.

A poor experience due to room access not working. I went back and forth to reception at least 4 times and quite late but the entry key system had failed and so in the end I had to be let into my room with a physical master key and was left without a working card entry system. In the morning, the main hotel door was also not working! The got in duty said he would seek a discount for me and I believe some compensation on the rate that I paid would be a reasonable thing to do. So far, no contact or confirmation of any refund from the staff since my stay…

Incredibly helpful staff, and a seamless stay at the hotel

Stayed for 2 nights as working in the area. Reception wasnt manned when i arrived and waited 10 mins until the 2 receptionists returned from cigarette break and you could smell the cigarettes on their breath when talking to you, so as a non smoker not a pleasant experience. Evening meal both nights average, check as always about intolerance for gluten, dairy etc. Cider sauce has flour, no gluten free buns for burger. Pate was ok 1 night and following had gluten so little concerned mis informed previous night, but nothing major happen juat light stomach upset. Room was nice, a little tired and water damaged architrave and door in shower room. Flush on toilet not great, not sufficient for toilet paper let alone other things . also the bowl not clear of human waste when arrived in room. Bed comfortable, tea and coffee ok but not much there if working late in room. Wifi good reception throughout hotel when there for mobile and also laptop. Room key on some doors seemed temperamental, 2 guests doors failed during my stay but resolved quickly Tea coffee not replenished by housekeeping nor mugs cleaned so had to ask restaurant staff as again no one on reception Breakfast is ok, if u want poached eggs they will oblige, gluten free bread and soya milk available upon request but not advertised avaliable and no warnings on bread also no label to say if sausages contained gluten. Check out was smooth, handed card in and left. Not likely to return in hurry but passable hotel

This is one friendly hotel , the staff are just lovely , always saying hello when you walk past and with a smile too . This is a clean fresh hotel , everything is brand new within , with some improvements to the exterior too ( always looked a bit agricultural when you drove past in the past ) . The food we had was excellent and bar service spot on too . The room was warm , comfortable and quiet ( unlike a couple of guests who let their door slam after midnight and then again at 645 too 🙄) . The only minor gripe is the price of the excellent food ( £16 for a margarita pizza and £22 for a curry with sides) and the bar prices were a little steep at £7.30 for a pint of Guinness. That said there is nothing nearby , so you are a captive audience to the said pricing structure . I didn’t let that spoil my stay as we were off to a wedding nearby , and there prices were much the same. A recommended hotel stay , and would return without question in the future .

Fully refurbished room, barhroom great and bed and bed linen very comfy. Buffet breakfast a bit poor but adequate. Worst point was the sewage smell when outside.

Hotel is situated next door to a sewerage farm and the smell is not good. You can't have the windows open in the room because of the smell and there isn't any air conditioning.

Opposite Morrison superstore & Garage

Met friends from Chelmsford for a visit to meet more friends at Preston. The hotel was in a very central place to get to all the local amenities by a short taxi ride.

Was looking for a hotel located off the M6, as needed a pit stop on the way down south. This place was a hidden gem, reasonably priced,spotless and comfortable. Definitely recommend as it's only a few minutes drive from M6 .

Lovely rooms just big enough for what we needed. Would have loved AC as couldn’t open window due to the local smell. Breakfast was awesome would definitely stay again. Very polite staff and glad to help. Just a pity no food at night but otherwise awesome stay

Excellent one night stay....no complaints whatsoever. Spacious room, comfy bed, excellent shower. Ate in the hotel with colleagues and we were all happy with the meal and service. Good breakfast to send us on our way.

Convenient for M6. Comfortable rooms. Attentive staff. I’m not a fan of buffet breakfast arrangement, I find food tends to be tepid and tired .

Breakfast was poor for the price.

Ample free parking; friendly staff; poor room facilities. TV did not work even with remote replaced. Shower leaked through glass screen. Only one bath & hand towel left for 2 adults; bathroom basin did not drain well. Room very dark with poor lighting even with lamps. Need of repaint and decoration. Chef ill so restaurant closed. Only one night stay so didn’t pursue complaining.

Nice enough budget hotel and the rooms have everything you need. Receptionist really dour faced and doesn’t say much. (A smile once in a while would help) The breakfast is the usual stuff in a buffet menu which is luke warm and tasteless. The coffee comes in one of those urns which is pretty disgusting so best avoided. The dinner menus are ok though I’m sure my chicken tikka was actually chicken with bolognese but at least it was hot compared to breakfast. Lastly, good luck finding staff as it’s very scarce.

Lovely staff and room clean. I got a good deal for a one night stay, but my room was at the back of the hotel on a corner against bushes and trees and got no sunlight. It was dark and cold, I had to turn the radiator on as it also felt damp. The restaurant was closed for a couple of nights, so no food available. The breakfast was OK, but if I stayed again I wouldn't bother, it wasnt worth the money. Overall if I got the same deal I would use again, it was better than one if the big chain Prem/Lodge places as the rooms were a better standard.
