Lovely view of the Firth and great food in the restaurant and wonderful bell hops (no elevator)

Clean room, staff accommodating, breakfast perfect - lots of choice, plenty parking space

Room was great, parking was great and the food was amazing

Breakfast was nice although my partner wasn't impressed with the link sausage! 😊 Car park was very easily accessible and staff were very friendly, especially the lady that served breakfast.

definately enjoyed our stay at The Lauriston, the staff were very friendly, the brakfast was excellent as well as the restaurant where we had a meal for 10 in the evening, it had a large parking area which was very convienient. great price too so overall i definately recomend it

Pros - great location, big free car park, good tea tray and even bath robes in room Cons - remote control filthy, tape on window to stop you opening it ? Breakfast service poor - no interaction from staff asking if all ok etc ? Bathroom snug - over 6ft you might struggle to sit on toilet without your knees pushed up against wall

Room dark and in need of a major refurb but clean. Bathroom very basic and definitely needs decorating. Paper torn and hanging off wall and sealant cracked and mouldy round bath and toilet. Woken at 6 am by very noisy radiator. Also was locked out returning at 11pm as no one had informed us that we needed to phone and say that we would be "LATE". eventually let in by a night watchman after banging on several doors and windows. Car park unlit and entrance to accommodation felt very dark and unwelcoming. Breakfast was very good and restaurant had obviously been upgraded at the expense of the bedrooms. Also as accommodation is on first floor with stairs and no lift, totally unsuitable for disabled or those with mobility issues. Even at the rate charged vastly overpriced. We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were friendly enough, but nothing to write home about. *CONS* – Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. Breakfast was lukewarm every morning — the plates were hot, but the food wasn’t (and the toast arrived cold). It seems like it's prepared in advance and left on a hot plate. I’d encourage the staff to try out their breakfast. The bedside lamps were far too large, leaving hardly any space on the table. The bed's headboard wasn’t secured, and the room’s window was broken — during Storm Amy, it honestly felt like the eye of the storm was at the end of our bed! The toilet seat was loose, the bathroom extractor fan didn’t work, the shower arm was broken, the mirror was broken, and the kettle wouldn’t stop boiling. On top of that, the tiles in the bar toilet were loose and actually felt unsafe. *PROS* – The bed was comfortable, the restaurant food was served hot (unlike breakfast), the location is great, there’s plenty of parking, the bar area is lovely, and the in-room tea and coffee supplies were generous. Overall, while there are some positives, the hotel is in need of serious maintenance and modernisation.

Older hotel, easy check in, awful smell upstairs by the rooms. Family room old and dated, mattresses was awful. Very dusty. Bathroom was nice. Awful breakfast all luke warm, plastic wrapper found inside black pudding. Left and went elsewhere for breakfast. Would I stay again NO!!!

Hi, firstly I would like to say thank you for allowing us to come in and change before our check-in time as we were going to a special occasion. I have stayed at the lauriston in the past, had lots of family celebrations - christenings, weddings and special family gatherings here over the years. It is a place that hold lots of special memories to me and my family. I would always try and book here for a stay when visiting my home town. But sadly this may not be the case from now on. I just feel the accommodation needs a complete renovation. The bed in our room (room 1) was shocking, it needs replacing and is probably the most uncomfortable bed we have slept in. The rooms aren’t dirty but the carpets are worn, the bathroom cabinets are damaged too, and this looks like it could do with upgrading. The carpets in the main area are badly worn and it’s actually really sad to see on as mentioned previously a place I have used many times. I think that rooms need decorating, new beds, furniture and bathrooms before I would consider staying again. I want to say though that the lady who is I presume the housekeeper who served breakfast and cleans the place is just lovely, she is the cheeriest of people and was so helpful and I hope she gets to hear this as credit where credit is due. However the owners really need to take heed and get this hotel back looking at its best and it could be a wee gem of hotel,

Initially the condition of the front door and interior reception areas appear to be slightly unkept, there was wooden panel that had fallen off front door and dim lighting that felt intentional to hide things. There was also a really strong perfume smell throughout the property that also felt intended to hide things. However my room was clean and comfortable, with extras like robe and snacks. Staff was friendly and welcoming and breakfast hit the spot! Hotel was chosen for proximity to the train station, which is excellent!

Good menu, excellent breakfast, room was really good, tight fit in the bathroom. A bit tired decor wise, particularly the stair carpet. Would stay again.

First impression was "very rundown and tacky" and in desperate need of a spruce up. It needs a good tidy up in the front. Not very welcoming on arrival. It was clean enough and staff were friendly but definitely very overpriced for what you got. Breakfast was cold and barely adequate. Not somewhere to return to.

We had our ferry time changed by CalMac from convenient to inconvenient so we decided to travel up the day before and stay in Ardrossan overnight. Wasn’t expecting much but the Lauriston over delivered in every dept. From a lovely huge room with modern en-suite lost in its vast expanse, to the cute table and two chairs in the window bay with a fantastic sea view. My wife thought the beds on the hard side - I thought the firmness was perfect - we both slept like logs though Breakfast was lovely - never sure about ordering the night before so when I was not so hungry the next morning I was worried I might offend - in the end they flexed perfectly around what I wanted - and everything was perfectly cooked and very good quality. Finally the service - from initial calls to check arrangements to check in, to reception arrival, to breakfast service all the staff were just lovely full stop - we can’t wait to go to Arran again but next time we’ll have a couple of days at the Lauriston to extend our holiday!

We love this hotel. Breakfast was included. Our room was facing the sea and we had a large room.

Great location, pleasant staff and a lovely breakfast. Despite the radiator set on the highest setting the room was very cold. There was an air gap between the windows and their frame which meant a strong draft and there was no radiator in the shower room or heated towel rail. In terms of amenities the broadband was incredibly slow and I didn’t have a mat in the shower room.

Ok for what we needed. Walls were paper thin so could hear next doors entire conversation. Breakfast fab and fresh but literally cereal/yoghurt and cooked breakfast tea/coffee/juice. Walls needed painting and there were a few stains on the wall. Nice welcome pack for tea/coffee. Only stayed 1 night. Nice friendly staff at check in and breakfast.

The central heating was so loud or it was possibly the pipe outside the window. All night sounded like I was underneath a waterfall.

Waitress in the breakfast dining room extremely courteous and good at her job. Room 2 has a wonderful view to the beach and the islands beyond.

One night b&b for family party. Fast, efficient check in. Clean, spacious, well appointed room. Comfy bed. Staff were all amazing and breakfast was perfect. Well done to all, we will be back. Thanks.

Staff were friendly, efficient and extremely helpful. The hotel is a wee bit tired looking but staff bring itback up to being a great place to stay.

Very nice and helpful staff. Hotel is brilliantly located (5 min.from train stop and 15 min. walk to the ferry to Isle of Arran (gorgeous! well worth a visit). Lauriston Hotel is a good value. Food isnt gourmet, but tasty and filling. For budget minded travelers, well worth considering.

Booked this hotel for the night prior to our ferry journey across to Arran. Lovely twin room, dinner and breakfast were delicious and all the staff were so welcoming and friendly.

Bedroom was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Hotel clean. I was disappointed in breakfast. My plate seemed a bit greasy and potatoe scone was very soggy. We were only given one slice of toast each and not asked if we would like more. Staff were very nice.and helpful. We had 3 course dinner and it was very enjoyable. We would ho back butwould be wary of breakfast choice.

Great size room. Great sleep. Food was good probably one off the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Especially the black pudding was amazing.
