La chambre était impeccable et la vue incroyable le personnel aux petits soins sur cela rien à dire ..la piscine intérieure avec le spa est vraiment très agréable et calme et propre. le petit-déjeuner très bien beaucoup de choix salé sucré . ce qu'on a moins aimé c'est le buffet du soir avec toujours le même buffet d'entrées de salades, et comme dessert ou des fruits les mêmes qu'au petit déjeuner ou une multitude de gâteaux qui sont toujours les mêmes, il n'y a pas de yaourts et le pain c'était petit pain pas forcément très bons. il y a effectivement des repas à thème mais c'est assez redondant ,nous étions en demi-pension.. si vous voulez changer le repas du soir contre un repas du midi c'est faisable mais dans ce cas il faut prendre le repas au bar de la piscine ,et là on vous propose un menu obligatoire et notamment avec une source en entrée, ce qu'on a forcément pas envie puisqu'il fait très chaud. je déconseille de faire ce changement . si je reviens je prendrai uniquement les petits déjeuners ,beaucoup de restaurants autour de l'hôtel qui sont très bien et une belle balade le long de la mer très agréable

Très bon hôtel avec excellent petit dej. Seul petit bémol: les équipements de la piscine intérieure et du Spa (douches, sauna, hammam …) sont vétustes (voir ne fonctionnent oas) et mériteraient d’être mieux entretenues vu le standing de l’hôtel

The hotel is excellent.Rooms were spacious, we had a superior Ocean View Room, and were very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is on a steep slope and overlooks the Ocean. Handy for the Lido (5 mins walk) but outdoor pool was clean and quite a big pool, with plenty of sunbeds on several levels for when the warmer weather arrives. We visited in January when it was still warm but pool not so important. It also has a nice indoor pool and a larger than usual gym for a hotel. The promenade at Funchal is a healthy walk away, between 40 mins to an hour depending on whether you take a direct route or not and how fit you are to cope with the many slopes in and around Madeira. However, there is a bus stop and a taxi rank within 3-4 mins walk. Taxis cost about 7 euros to Funchal. Hotel has a good breakfast buffet with plenty of options. Only ate in the hotel restaurant one night which was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel were offering deals for those who wanted to stay on site for evening meals. However, there are many options for eating or a drink within a 10-15 minute walk. Plus many more the further towards Funchal centre you want to go.

This hotel charges for “Spa” they don’t really have a spa. They have a sauna and steam room with a few “hot tubs” which are not hot. There was no spa experience we were left alone. I went to get water and they didn’t have any cups by the dispenser. When I got to front desk and mentioned it to the lady at front desk her answer was “you can buy water at the bar” That type behavior is not what I expect at a five star hotel. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Schönes Urlaubshotel, direkt am Meer gelegen. Wir hatten das Glück ein sehr geräumiges Eckzimmer mit 2 Balkonen zu erhalten und hatten somit bereits morgens Sonne auf dem Balkon. Das Frühstück ist gut und abwechslungsreich. Der Frühstücksraum ist allerdings sehr groß und es geht recht laut und geschäftig zu. Daher haben wir auch darauf verzichtet das Abendessen (Buffet) in Anspruch zu nehmen. In der Umgebung sind einige sehr schöne Restaurants und Kneipen gelegen. Parken war in der hoteleigenen Tiefgarage kostenlos möglich.

Very good experience. Kind and attentive staff. Some areas are being renovated, but it did not cause us any trouble. I only suggest that the spa be open on Sundays.

Really amazing stay at this hotel. Hotel was gorgeous and in a really nice area near Funchal. Walkable to many restaurants. The staff were really friendly and provided great service. We had the superior ocean view room on the top floor which had amazing views and a private balcony with sun loungers. Included breakfast buffet had a variety of nice food, good start to each day. Free parking in the hotel. Highly recommend staying here!

I notified the front desk about the toilet flushing control & the noisy fan issues after my first night , I don't think anything were done. The fan was so noisy I couldn't get a good night sleep throughout my 4 nights. If I turned it off , then I could hear snoring from the next room & no air circulation in my room. The maid left a dirty towel on the hanger in the bathroom 🤔. I know it's not mine since the shape was different. I left the card for bed sheet change on the third day but nothing was changed. I need to catch an early morning flight the morning of my departure and ask for a cup of coffee @ 7a, but was told it would not be available til 7:30a. Couldn't accommodate for such a small request. First time I encountered for such service from hotels considered themselves as 4 stars and up.

Chouette hôtel mais plus un 5* comme avant, hôtel vieillissant Personnelle de réception très sympathique, Lucia au bar très sympathique et attentionné. Problème de airco dans les chambres. Nettoyage limite pour un 5*. Petit déjeuner un peu limité pour un 5* et peu d’employés qui parlent le portugais.

My hotel room was lovely and had lovely side sea view . Staff were amazing , nothing too much trouble for any of them . Wonderful location by the sea and so much choice of restaurants . Easy to get around with transport , shopping on doorstep . So happy I picked this hotel

Hotel is in a very nice location with walking distance to many attractions, shopping and dining. Hotel itself could do with a little updating with the times. There was no USB port to charge phones, luckily I had brought along a travel adapter but in this day and age all hotels should have USB plugs. There was no clock in the room, a good feature in order to set any alarms if needed and even to see the time at a glance. Asides, from these two aspects, hotel was very nice, the staff were nice and extremely helpful

Schönes Urlaubshotel, direkt am Meer gelegen. Wir hatten das Glück ein sehr geräumiges Eckzimmer mit 2 Balkonen zu erhalten und hatten somit bereits morgens Sonne auf dem Balkon. Das Frühstück ist gut und abwechslungsreich. Der Frühstücksraum ist allerdings sehr groß und es geht recht laut und geschäftig zu. Daher haben wir auch darauf verzichtet das Abendessen (Buffet) in Anspruch zu nehmen. In der Umgebung sind einige sehr schöne Restaurants und Kneipen gelegen. Parken war in der hoteleigenen Tiefgarage kostenlos möglich.

Chouette hôtel mais plus un 5* comme avant, hôtel vieillissant Personnelle de réception très sympathique, Lucia au bar très sympathique et attentionné. Problème de airco dans les chambres. Nettoyage limite pour un 5*. Petit déjeuner un peu limité pour un 5* et peu d’employés qui parlent le portugais.

The hotel is in a great location just on the edge of Funchal centre. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. Our only issue was that the bed was very firm, although this was cured when the hotel added a mattress topper to the beds after mentioning this fact to Expedia.

Very noisy evening entertainment in the lounge/reception area which precluded sitting there or outside on the terrace. Also neighbouring and attached restaurants had extremely loud live and recorded music which carried to the room balcony.

Everything was great. Kudos to the front desk staff, particularly João (who welcomed us) and Carla (who professionally helped us with the late check out). All were great, including the restaurant staff and pool area support. The room had all the amenities promised and the location was fantastic.

The staff was super nice and very welcoming. I mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they had a champagne bottle in our room for us. What a nice surprise! We enjoyed our stay very much.

The hotel was average. We were expecting more. We had some trouble at checking and that kind of set the tone. In one room the air conditioner didn't work. The view was beautiful though I had to request a room change to get the view that I'd paid to get. The staff was very friendly and Tina, the manager, was especially nice and did her best to rectify any mistakes. Overall the atmosphere of the hotel property was great. Just a little better upkeep in the rooms and better communication would help.

I notified the front desk about the toilet flushing control & the noisy fan issues after my first night , I don't think anything were done. The fan was so noisy I couldn't get a good night sleep throughout my 4 nights. If I turned it off , then I could hear snoring from the next room & no air circulation in my room. The maid left a dirty towel on the hanger in the bathroom 🤔. I know it's not mine since the shape was different. I left the card for bed sheet change on the third day but nothing was changed. I need to catch an early morning flight the morning of my departure and ask for a cup of coffee @ 7a, but was told it would not be available til 7:30a. Couldn't accommodate for such a small request. First time I encountered for such service from hotels considered themselves as 4 stars and up.

This hotel charges for “Spa” they don’t really have a spa. They have a sauna and steam room with a few “hot tubs” which are not hot. There was no spa experience we were left alone. I went to get water and they didn’t have any cups by the dispenser. When I got to front desk and mentioned it to the lady at front desk her answer was “you can buy water at the bar” That type behavior is not what I expect at a five star hotel. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Great stay. Did book a superior room on the top floor so had our own balcony. A very substantial buffet breakfast that will keep you going all day. Spar across the road for snack and drinks. Lots of good restaurants within easy walking. Great parking facilities under the hotel if you have a rental car.

Our third visit to this hotel and as usual it was excellent. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a nice walk, mostly downhill, to the centre of Funchal or there is a frequent and reliable bus service which stops a hundred metres from the front door. Breakfast has everything you’d want and although we didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening it was an option and there are plenty of quality and affordable restaurants nearby.

Das Zimmer mit seitlichem Meeresblick war bequem eingerichtet, ruhig und sehr sauber. Das Personal in der Lobby sehr hilfsbereit. Leider hat das Restaurant Kantinencharakter, für ein 5 Sterne Hotel ungemütlich, das Servicepersonal sehr unaufmerksam. Das Abendbuffet, welches jeden Tag unter einem anderen Motto lief, war lieblos, fade und nicht heiß. Leider hatte ich die Halbpension dazugebucht. Für diese Leistung völlig überteuert. Als gut befunden habe ich das Frühstücksbuffet. Gute Auswahl.

La chambre était impeccable et la vue incroyable le personnel aux petits soins sur cela rien à dire ..la piscine intérieure avec le spa est vraiment très agréable et calme et propre. le petit-déjeuner très bien beaucoup de choix salé sucré . ce qu'on a moins aimé c'est le buffet du soir avec toujours le même buffet d'entrées de salades, et comme dessert ou des fruits les mêmes qu'au petit déjeuner ou une multitude de gâteaux qui sont toujours les mêmes, il n'y a pas de yaourts et le pain c'était petit pain pas forcément très bons. il y a effectivement des repas à thème mais c'est assez redondant ,nous étions en demi-pension.. si vous voulez changer le repas du soir contre un repas du midi c'est faisable mais dans ce cas il faut prendre le repas au bar de la piscine ,et là on vous propose un menu obligatoire et notamment avec une source en entrée, ce qu'on a forcément pas envie puisqu'il fait très chaud. je déconseille de faire ce changement . si je reviens je prendrai uniquement les petits déjeuners ,beaucoup de restaurants autour de l'hôtel qui sont très bien et une belle balade le long de la mer très agréable

The hotel is excellent.Rooms were spacious, we had a superior Ocean View Room, and were very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is on a steep slope and overlooks the Ocean. Handy for the Lido (5 mins walk) but outdoor pool was clean and quite a big pool, with plenty of sunbeds on several levels for when the warmer weather arrives. We visited in January when it was still warm but pool not so important. It also has a nice indoor pool and a larger than usual gym for a hotel. The promenade at Funchal is a healthy walk away, between 40 mins to an hour depending on whether you take a direct route or not and how fit you are to cope with the many slopes in and around Madeira. However, there is a bus stop and a taxi rank within 3-4 mins walk. Taxis cost about 7 euros to Funchal. Hotel has a good breakfast buffet with plenty of options. Only ate in the hotel restaurant one night which was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel were offering deals for those who wanted to stay on site for evening meals. However, there are many options for eating or a drink within a 10-15 minute walk. Plus many more the further towards Funchal centre you want to go.

Chouette hôtel mais plus un 5* comme avant, hôtel vieillissant Personnelle de réception très sympathique, Lucia au bar très sympathique et attentionné. Problème de airco dans les chambres. Nettoyage limite pour un 5*. Petit déjeuner un peu limité pour un 5* et peu d’employés qui parlent le portugais.

Atendimento e localização são ótimas. Hotel, no entanto, um pouco antigo. Café da manhã mediano. Quarto enchia de água a cada banho. Precisei pedir que viessem secar todas as noites. Seria bacana se fosse um 4 estrelas mas nem de longe é 5 estrelas.

Nice property and upscale amenities. The view is breathtaking and the room was modern and comfy. The breakfast was great with a lot of options. I tried the seafood dinner buffet and it was disappointing, one one kind of fish with turkey and bean soup!!! Any drinks even water or coffee was an extra pay, which I find is pretty cheap for such an upscale place. Other than that personal and amenities are great.

Great location - close to a lot of restaurants and activities. Free parking which was nice. Room was very comfortable and a good size with a lovely terrace with a view of the water. The breakfast buffet has lots of selection but the quality was definitely lacking. This hotel is clearly popular with bus tours that stay there so keep that in mind.

Really amazing stay at this hotel. Hotel was gorgeous and in a really nice area near Funchal. Walkable to many restaurants. The staff were really friendly and provided great service. We had the superior ocean view room on the top floor which had amazing views and a private balcony with sun loungers. Included breakfast buffet had a variety of nice food, good start to each day. Free parking in the hotel. Highly recommend staying here!

Overall, the hotel was decent. The location is great as it is very close to the beach, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, which made things very convenient. A huge plus was the free parking, which was very convenient. The swimming pool was also nice, and they provide towels.However, there were two main downsides to my stay. First, the breakfast selection was quite uninspired and lacked variety. Second, and most frustratingly, there was an issue with the toilet flush. It had to be repaired at least three times during our stay. For an expensive five-star hotel, I expect much better. There is definitely room for improvement.

The Melia Medeira was a beautiful hotel! The pool was lovely and clean, they had nice entertainment in the evening and the front desk staff were very attentive and a great source of information as needed. The bar tenders were also super!! The room itself was very clean and the beds and pillows were comfortable. If I had to say anything as a form of help, my suggestion would be to update the washrooms. The entire hotel was so nice, but the washrooms felt dated and the shower was not great. Otherwise, we had a great stay at the Melia.
