Only thing was parking. Was imformed upon arrival that there was valet parking which I wasnt expecting. Then in am there was no one available to get my car. I was told that I could take elevator to basement and get my car. I could have saved a little by not using valet and parked it myself, but wasn't informed. All is good now. Thanks

The elevator didn’t work properly. There was no bartender to work the bar. We were charged for extra guest but no extra bath linens were supplied. Valet service was great, the one plus! We had stayed at an Indigo in Seattle and were very pleased but this one definitely did not measure up.

No hotel parking lot, as this is downtown. Valet parking is pricey, but I was able to find street parking, which is free from 6P to 8A.

Upon arrival, we learned of the broken elevator, the fifth floor walk up, the lack of availability of the reserved king size bed, and no coffee or coffee cups in the room. Carpet did not appear vacuumed. We didn’t bother drinking the 1 complimentary drink offered for the notable inconvenience of the broken elevator.

It was a nice area and a nice hotel on the surface. A few things that weren’t good though: - AC is not controlled in the room. It got super hot at night and we had to call reception in the middle of the night to adjust it. - no drinking water available, only ice. - Elevator controls were broken on 6th floor so we couldn’t call the elevator. - It was super loud at night due to motor bikes revving outside even at 2am. Restaurants in the area were great.

The finishes and fixtures in my room were pretty worn out. Lots of chips and scuffs, the flooring was peeling, and the bathroom shower was an unpleasant experience. Fixture finishes were chipped, orange stains in the shower pan, messy caulking, and rust forming around the ceiling above. The fitness center was well equipped but not stocked with towels and the sanitizing wipe dispenser was not functioning. Staff were nice and the made to order breakfast was pretty good, but when my flight home got cancelled later that day, I did not hesitate to stay elsewhere.

The Staff Was Amazing, however the Elevator was out of commission..I had to walk 8 flight of stairs..Hot and Sweaty..Also you can hear All Noises coming from outside,cars people talking, unable to get any sleep..The location is terrible...Again the Staff was Amazing, Polite and Kind,Extremely helpful and making sure the elevator gets fixed immediately..Sad to say I wouldnt stay at that location again.

Staff was very friendly and very prompt to address issues. However, the bathroom door is a rolling door that has a 2 inch gap on each side so everyone in the room can hear you in bathroom. Our bathroom door was extremely hard to push open. The kids couldn’t open or shut it. The elevator worked once on our trip. And overall the hotel was very old and needed updates . There were people directly outside approaching everyone they saw although that’s not a hotel problem maybe something could be done

There was a hold in the floor of the room we were in but after traveling all day we did not feel like moving to another room but did inform front desk which was nice. Our 1 year old is still crawling and her feet, knees and palms were pure black after crawling around on the floor. The beds were very uncomfortable and creaky. We try a new hotel everytime we come to Birmingham but we will not be giving this one another go. In good news the service was good. The lady at valet was very sweet.

I have loved every hotel Indigo that I have stayed at. So, I didn't hesitate to stay at this one when I had to make a last minute reservation. It was pretty disappointing. There were gobs of hair in random places, pubic area hair in one of the supposedly clean towels, the floor was dirty, the elevator was sketch and did not come up to the fifth floor two of the three times I needed to go down.

The staff was amazing! However, the room and common areas were not clean. Also, it is a noisy area due to the night life and not a place you want to walk at night or alone. There were homeless people living in the parking garage.

I am a huge fan of Hotel Indigo so when I booked this hotel I expected the same level of experience that I received at the other Hotel Indigo properties! Highly disappointed! Staff was amazing but the overall property was disgusting. Never will I stay at this location again.

For a quick one night stay, it was adequate, but had I stayed longer, it wouldn’t have been ideal. The mattress was hard as a rock (it was the firmest mattress I’ve ever slept on), the tv/remote barely worked, and I couldn’t connect to the internet at all. The coffee machine had 5 decaf coffee pods (no regular) and one tea with zero condiments; no sweeteners or creamers. The employees were generally nice and helpful, as I had to leave early before the valet got there.

We stayed for 3 nights, and overall it was okay. We had a suite it was pretty nice but couch and chairs pretty uncomfortable. Bed wasn't bad. Tv's suck and aren't smart tv's. Valet parking was 38 bucks a night which is a bit high i thought. But valet guys were great! The red haired check in lady was less than happy, and i am certain would prefer that we werent there at all. Oh and the thermostat has to be controlled by the front desk. We told them to set it at 68. It was 77 degrees in there at night. On second thought we will never stay there again. Good thing there are many other options in the area.

Neat experience in the older building. Was awakened multiple times each night by the locals racing their engines down the street. Lots of places to walk to for eating. HVAC controlled by the front desk was a little different.

There is a great French restaurant within walking distance. The only issue I had was that there is a bar/club close by that played extremely loud music until late like 2-3 am.

Location was great. There wasn’t a refrigerator or microwave as advertised in the room and staying for 4 days made it hard to keep food. I had to eat out way more than I anticipated. Otherwise everything else was great.

I guess I was put in a discount room because I requested to be on a low floor and the front desk lady said no. She had a really bad attitude as well. The room seem to face a place called 3000 bar and the noise coming from that area was loud. Also, the room had a loud buzzing sound in it. I think it was the AC unit. Oh, yeah, you can’t control the temperature in your unit. You’ll have to call the front desk to get them to adjust your temperature.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Indigo and have reservations there for a writers' group I'm bringing to town at the end of September. My absolute favorite part of the room was the shower which was a piece of heaven with the perfectly hot water and the lovely products plus it was sparkling clean. The location is also perfect for my group so close to good restaurants with something for everyone. The day I arrived, unfortunately the elevator was down for a while, but it was repaired shortly after. The bar is adorable and I can't wait to write there with my group! Great staff also. Helpful and friendly.

Rooms were very nice. But the rooms were really hot. We tried to adjust the temperature in the room to cool it off, but the air would not come on. There was another room in our party, and the occupants of that room had the same issue. Also, the person at the registration desk during the day was very rude. Sat looking at her phone and seemed very agitated to have to check us in. The person at the desk when we got back to room late at night was very nice.

We stayed for 3 nights, and overall it was okay. We had a suite it was pretty nice but couch and chairs pretty uncomfortable. Bed wasn't bad. Tv's suck and aren't smart tv's. Valet parking was 38 bucks a night which is a bit high i thought. But valet guys were great! The red haired check in lady was less than happy, and i am certain would prefer that we werent there at all. Oh and the thermostat has to be controlled by the front desk. We told them to set it at 68. It was 77 degrees in there at night. On second thought we will never stay there again. Good thing there are many other options in the area.

My five-star review was primarily due to the exceptional staff. Walter, the valet, set the tone with his outstanding service. Given the challenges of parking in downtown Birmingham, opting for the hotel's valet service proved worthwhile. My room's cleanliness and amenities were consistently maintained thanks to Angie from housekeeping. Throughout my stay, Rere and Charlea provided friendly assistance around the clock. Although I only visited the bar/restaurant once, the attendant's warm hospitality left a lasting impression. My stay was 3 due to a family emergency but I enjoyed the stay so much, I booked an additional night to just relax.

This place does not look like it's advertised at all except for the lobby and bar. The bathroom was FILTHY. The floors were sticky and slippery! There was hair all over the shower wall and on the floor of the shower. No fridge?????? The elevator is like a scene from American horror story. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable i hardly slept. They put me right hy the elevator you could hear everyone come off and go on it. When i checked in i sat there for a good 5 minutes waiting for someone to appear. The vallet lady sweet as pie best customer service youll find give her a raise and promotion! The girl working night shift royallllll b! I went outside to smoke around 11. My key card wouldn't light up the green light to get in. I had to get her to open the door. When she opened the door and let my son in she said the key in your hand is to open the door. I said oh i'm sorry it wasn't working. She threw her hands in the air rolled her eyes and walked away. Good thing my son was there because she needs a lesson in customer service skills and honestly that job isn't for someone like her with such a negative attitude! Who rolls their eyes and is rude to a paying customer for having to get up and walk 5 feet to a door and open it? If you're a crackhead or a dopehead you'll think this place is a 5 star hotel. This is nothing but an overpriced motel!

The waitress for the breakfast was RUDE & SLOW. She wondered around most of the time. They only had eggs and sausage. You had to push the up button in elevator regardless of where you were and wanted to go. The front desk staff was amazing. Oh and valet is 38+fees a day so 85 for two nights.

There is a great French restaurant within walking distance. The only issue I had was that there is a bar/club close by that played extremely loud music until late like 2-3 am.

The area feels unsafe. Door was locked when we arrived to check in, staff were slow to arrive at the door. Staff were also not very warm, and a little sketchy/ unprofessional. Then, loud club music and ambulances all around made even nice conditions very disconcerting. Will likely never stay here again.

I love this hotel 100/10!!! The many food choices outside of the hotel are amazing!! The staff were polite!! They helped me with my every need. The street were always booming and having something going on and I love it !! Room 402 was a beautiful view of the 4th of July fireworks show!! I’m definitely coming back to this hotel!! Probably next week 😂!!!!

Our sink was stopped up.. the elevator kept going out we had to walk 5 flight of stairs . The dining area didn’t have majority of their menu . No regular coffee just decaf .. no regular creamer .. we had to use whipping cream!!! Just horrible

The hotel was very dirty. The staff were not friendly and everyone seemed like they had better things to do. There is not parking. There is not breakfast, even though I paid extra for these things when booking. The "bar" did not have wine or tonic water. The valet was in-your-face, but would only park you car... you have to get it in the morning.

The room was lovely and spacious. Bed comfort was as-expected with great pillows and sheets. We added breakfast to our stay and were very well-pleased with the menu and talent of the cook. The only downside was she was the only one stationed in the restaurant: she took orders, cooked, and bussed tables. I felt bad for her! It was 30min before she could get to us, but that’s not her fault. The valet service was quick and pleasant. There’s plenty of quirk and fun in 5 Points South.

Two things I would caution Hotel Indigo to address were: -the elevators need attention and could be worrysome to certain guests. -the "free" breakfast was rough. With slightly more effort, and maybe a little more investment, the offering could have been very impressive. The grits were not fully cooked, no plain creamer available, no water available, and no salt on the tables. No one expects a free breakfast to be perfect, but the corrections were MOSTLY missing effort, not monetary requirements.

The hotel staff were wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious, and the cocktails at the bar were excellent. It is in a part of town where sometimes some outside noise can be loud, but it wasn't too bad. Our room had no refrigerator, and the coffeemaker only had decaf coffee. The staff probably would have given us regular coffee had we asked, though. They were very accommodating. The fridge thing was kind of a bummer. They may offer rooms with them, though--if you're looking to book, maybe check that. Overall, a great stay.

The finishes and fixtures in my room were pretty worn out. Lots of chips and scuffs, the flooring was peeling, and the bathroom shower was an unpleasant experience. Fixture finishes were chipped, orange stains in the shower pan, messy caulking, and rust forming around the ceiling above. The fitness center was well equipped but not stocked with towels and the sanitizing wipe dispenser was not functioning. Staff were nice and the made to order breakfast was pretty good, but when my flight home got cancelled later that day, I did not hesitate to stay elsewhere.

Probably one of the worst hotels that I have stayed at in a LONG time. Location wise, its close to some good restaurants but the 5 Points area can be a bit sketchy (REALLY LOUD too) and I was surprised each morning that my rental car wasn't broken into. Speaking of parking, the hotel uses a 3rd party valet that makes you pre pay ($35/day) separately and can't bill directly to the room. I paid for one day of valet and then moved the car to a self park garage directly behind the hotel which is $25/day. Lets discuss the room, I stayed 3 nights and housekeeping didn't clean my room once! I alerted the front desk and they made a note to have my room cleaned the next day while I was out only to return to an uncleaned room. This is unacceptable. Also, the shower is gross and I could see moldy spots and discoloration plus the shower head was leaking all over the place. The building itself is historical which means the elevators are old and had to be repaired during my stay which resulted in hoofing it to the 4th floor for the first day I was there. The bar was out of everything however the bartender was very friendly and embarrassed about their wine selection and kept apologizing. Check out - I booked and prepaid my room on Expedia and upon check out they tried billing to my credit card on file. Please be aware of this so you don't double pay. Net net, stay elsewhere. This is a IHG hotel and they should audit this property ASAP as it's hurting the Indigo Hotel brand.

The room was great and the staff was nice. We stayed 2 nights and the only problem we had was, if we left for more than a couple hours, we would get back and our key card wouldn't work, and the day of checkout it was deactivated at 8 when checkout is 11. We went to get breakfast and come back and our key wouldn't work again.

While the staff is nice, the owners don't care about the property or don't have the money to upkeep it. I'm not going to go into detail but almost not part of the hotel felt like it was worth the money. Until they have renovated, I would seriously consider staying elsewhere. Right across the street at the Hilton for the same price, I had a much better experience.

This was my first time staying at this particular hotel brand. I came in for a conference at the BJCC which the drive from the hotel was not bad (9mins). Room was clean. Room temperature is controlled by the front desk which was something different that I never experienced at a hotel. I only had to adjust once. Ashley, front desk staff was very nice and helpful answering questions and assisting even when it was close to shift change late at night. I would stay at this hotel again if visiting the area next time
