Super 8 by Wyndham Taos

We needed a ground level room for handicap reasons. There were none available. But NO Elevator. That was the worst part. The room was noisy due to tiled floors. There was only 1 rickety wooden chair to sit in. The dining was terrible the next morning. There was not enough space to serve any sort of breakfast for more than a few people. Overall it was a terrible nights stay.

Upstairs but no elevator. Breakfast barely enough to call breakfast. Room had been remodeled, but finish work was poor at best. Room was attached to stairs, so heard every use, especially the one who stamped up singing at midnight. For price paid was disappointing.

After checking in I fount both waste baskets in the room were full to overflowing. The Ice Machine was broken and not working. No Orange Juice for breakfast, Management said it was in shipment

Check in was so slow….twenty minutes even with advanced reservations. She was friendly but seemed new to the motel business. Our room door was open and there was used soap, used cup and food in the refrigerator. There was only one set of towels for two people and no shampoo. The ice machine was broken but we did get ice promptly upon request. The breakfast was okay but there was no egg or other protein. The room itself was updated and clean. We have stayed in Super 8 motel before and were satisfied but this one was disappointing

They are short staffed and the ice machine is broken. also I didn't have a top sheet on my bed. no wash clothes and a bug in my room.

It was a higher price than usual for a Super 8, and the check in staff was great. The room was adequate, but floor was dirty. There also wasn’t an elevator, and I am having trouble with stairs. At breakfast, the guy was late putting it out, and rude to guests. And the ice machine didn’t work. Very disappointing.

Hotel was overall in fairly poor condition. Workers were installing something in other rooms (new beds, perhaps?), but much of the hotel felt far past its prime. View from our window was of what looks like several wrecked vehicles on adjacent property. The entry door was incredibly difficult to open (warped or out of alignment) and the clerk was gone in the morning ("will return in 30 minutes") with no indication of when the 30 minutes began or would end. During this time the "breakfast" was essentially empty. Finally left and just scooted our card keys across the counter out of reach of other customers since there was no clerk and no drop box.

Ice machine broken, no elevator, toilet seat practically falling off the mounts. No bueno.

I guess I liked the price for a comfortable bed, clean bathroom as far as I could tell, air conditioning & TV. I realized since Taos, NM is a tourist area, I would pay higher than usual Super 8 rates. It met my needs even though I’d like to have paid $10-20 less. The downsize…was the ice machine was broken.

Property in midst of renovations, but some are incomplete or poorly done, eg. upside down bathroom door, missing paneling or outlets, no grips or soap holder in showers. Water logged carpeting in first floor hallway. Strict linen rules, no cooking in rooms. Breakfast did not include any meat or eggs

The room was pretty filthy under the beds. There were still trash in here. The curtains didn’t match and they were put on horribly and unmatching. The TV was sideways.. there was no extra pillows or blankets and come to find out the ice machine didn’t work

Smelled like cigarette smoke, walls had holes, bathroom door wouldn't shut, carpet in halls was filthy, walls were thin, linoleum on floor peeling off, people smoking weed at the doors. This is a $30 a night hotel not a $150 a night hotel.

Spilled some water on the floor, wiped it up. Floor was filthy.

Too many bugs inside the room. It was an old, dumpy hotel. The area is expensive, but there is no way that room should have been $145.

We were given a room that had not been clean. Conditions were old, dirty looking and everything was in need of repair. Window had no lock, handle to turn on water in the tub broke, floors were unmopped and dirty.

The outside was clean, breakfast should have been just coffee and the room had trash in the dresser drawers toilet seat was not secure. The toilet paper holder was broke, and the door to the room would not lock your experience was just not worth the money.

The stairs and hallway had cigarette buds and trash on the floor for 3 days! They never cleaned it so I wonder if they even cleaned our room properly. The toilet was dirty as well! It wasn’t scrubbed at all. Of course we get what we pay for- not returning to this place again.

Absolutely disgusting! Not sure how the board of health has not shut this place down. If they own a vacuum it does not work or they refuse to use it, there is dirt and trash building up in the hallways. When we flushed the toilet, actual poop came up in the bath tub. They did not refund money and had no solution other than allowing us to get ready for the day in a different room. Having children witness this is terrifying, maybe we were fooled by the Expedia reviews because this place is basically a crack house. Spend an extra few dollars to not stay in this filth.

The room was not very clean upon first visit, no toilet paper in room, the room door did not close very well. Had to push hard to get the door to latch. The tub did not drain and when the toilet was flushed it backed up into the tub. Tring to have some good faith so We Agreed to be moved to another room instead of money back and leaving. Big mistake, only nice was that room was an upgrade. Unfortunately, the floor had not been swept clean, not enough towels and no one came to replace dirty towels with clean ones, trash was not removed or new trash bags placed. We will not stay here again or recommend anyone stay here.

The room was huge.

This visit was just plain loud, due to other guests but also cheaply built walls and doors that did nothing to muffle sounds. Although the desk staff was friendly, both parties in our group needed our cards recoded in the middle of our stay - very inconvenient.

Check-in was a breeze. It was a busy place. Our room was at the bottom of the stairwell. I figured people would be running up and down the stairs all night smoking and partying. It wasn't like that. Likely because two state police cars were in the lot all night. I bet they get to sleep there because it's cheap. The room was comfortable but generic. My lady friend was expecting a little more room and appearance with the name Wyndham attached. To me it was an adequate room. However, we both agreed that the bed was a little too firm. Overall, I would recommend this place as a nice place to stay if you want to visit Taos on the cheap. I didn't find the room all that cheap. But I have to figure in the Taos effect on pricing. A good room at a good hotel for a good rate.

TV did not work at all despite the front desk attempting to remedy. Flashing light on the ceiling from the smoke detector, very annoying. Ceiling in the bathroom was gross

The room was clean but sound passes through the walls like they were made of air. There was so much noise coming from every direction, it was miserable to try to sleep.

A basic no-frills hotel room. Clean sheets and hot shower. Good Wi-Fi. Friendly staff.

Although the property was clean enough for comfort and had modern updates, the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything. We were also near the front so when the staff at change over at 11pm I heard the entire conversation, I could count the ice coming from the ice machine and the couple fighting at 4:30am. I can usually sleep through some noise but when you add the bright flashing light attached the the smoke director above the bed it made for a very restless night.

The smoke alarm light blinked off and on both nights we stayed there. When it was lights out, it was right in our eyes as it was in the middle of the room right over our heads. I asked them to check on it, but it was still an issue the next night, the bathroom was a little dirty, the air conditioner sporadically didn't work.

It was clean. No working A/c or heater.

The staff member I dealt with on the afternoon of my check in was extremely rude. I arrived 15 minutes before the 3 o'clock check in and was told no room was ready and they didn't know when one would be. Checked in at 745 that night. Breakfast food was stale. I've stayed at this property for over 10 years, and this was the last time I will be staying there. Maybe management and/or ownership has changed, but it has really gone downhill.

If you wish to feel unwelcome, this dump is for you. We arrived at 7pm. Was attended to at 7.20pm and only got checked in at 7.50pm! 30mins to check in a guest!but only after we insisted that they do so because they were taking forever to verify the credit card. The receptionist was untrained and curt. The manager was absent and unhelpful. No way would i stay here again. Stay at your own risk. The guest before us also left angrily. Go figure.

Two of the three front desk staff I dealt with had no customer service skills whatsoever. When checking in I was told my room wouldn't be available at 3PM, which is the stated time my room should have been available, and that I should come back about 3:20...no apology, no compensation, not even a "sorry for the inconvenience"!

Horrible! I arrived at 12:15, was told to come back at 3 to check in. At 3 there were no clean rooms, but 5 people in black were standing around not cleaning rooms. At 4 I finally got a room, many others were still waiting. In the morning I went down for breakfast after 6 when breakfast was supposed to be served. Nothing was there, there was no one at the counter. I was supposed to stay for 3 days, I stayed for 2 and was happy to get out! Would not recommend to anyone!

We stayed for one night, a Saturday night in September 2024.. This property is expensive and is a dump. It is way overdue for a makeover. Although the beds were comfortable, my mattress had a stain on the side. The rooms get dusty and were minimally furnished. We had a suite with one room with two queens and one room with one king. The smoke alarm started going off in the middle of the night in the room with the king.it was too high for us to reach. We called the desk to no answer. The next day. the clerk said someone from maintenance wouldn’t be in until Monday to fix it. When I checked in. the clerk wanted my driver’s license and did not return it There was no note on my door and it was not returned when I checked out I discovered it was gone on Sunday night, after I had returned to Albuquerque. I called and spent an hour on the phone talking to the clerk,who kept putting me on hold. She said she would overnight it to me, as I was flying home on Weds. She could not get my name. phone number or the address where to send the license to, correct. She then asked me to e-mail it to the motel, which I did, The next morning, my friends and I decided we couldn’t trust this motel so we planned a trip back to Taos to pick up my license.This was five hour round trip. We went to pick it up, the clerk pulled out a pile of at least 10 other driver’s licenses, so keeping people’s licenses is something they routinely do. Do not stay at this motel unless it is a last resort.

Not good. Not only was I charged by hotels.com for the stay but super8 also charged me. So that is over 300$ for 1 night. Super 8 has said they will refund me but it’s 7 days later and I am still waiting. Additionally I checked this morning and it appears that they charged again instead of refunding me the original.

Very friendly, welcoming staff. Streamlined check- in, well- organized & efficient process. Accommodated personal preferences, expedited overall process with respectful, efficient, & engaging attitude. I felt well taken care of, safe, & relaxed for this stay.

We stayed at the Super 8 in Taos for two nights. Absolutely awful. DO NOT STAY HERE. Had a horrible experience at check-in with completely disrespectful front desk staff. Came with a service dog and politely let them know as I do in every hotel I stay at. They demanded that we provide service animal paperwork with no understanding of the two legal service animal questions they are permitted to ask. This does not comply with ADA law and made us extremely uncomfortable. After trying to explain the law in a friendly manner, we were ignored. We were asked by the staff “what is that going to change?” as they pointed to the no pets sign again. We explained that the service animal is not a pet and that she is working. The staff got visibly upset and said “fine, you can have your pet in the room but we will be inspecting every sheet, towel, and linen and will be charging you for any dirtied or damaged items.” This statement also does not comply with ADA law. I then had to call Wyndham customer service to call the front desk to explain the law to them.

Staff was extremely helpful with scheduling issue. Very kind, easy to deal with, and just great overall service.

Nice staff, and good basic room. Not great breakfast, but it was nice there was something. It’s towards the outside of town, so peaceful location.

Quiet place to rest. Near Restaurants, walmart, and gas stations. Hotel seems to be in need of a remodel. Expected a better quality for the price.

There was NO problem with cleanliness. The staff at the reception was always super helpful and putting up with our many questions. The breakfast bar was full of variety. Our only small issue was that the room was ice cold when we arrived BUT THANKFULLY we were able to turn off the air conditioner and from then on we were just right. We had a pleasant stay and would choose it again if we came to Taos again.

The "Breakfast" area was inadequate in size. I liked the free candy at the desk. Surprisingly expensive for what we got. It's been years since we stayed in a motel. We'll find ways to avoid Super 8.

The bed was comfortable and shower good but overall room was not comfortable. There were two straight back wooden chairs we used for our suitcase, otherwise only the floor. No other chairs. Lighting was poor, hard to read in bed since no chair. We had only bath towels, no hand towels or wash clothes. Breakfast was so-so. Waffle maker, cereal, assorts bread to toast. No eggs, sausage, yogurt etc. We didn’t feel totally safe….loud shouting and pounding from nearby room, almost like a fight. Several young men just hanging out in parking lot. Unclear if they were guests….seem not so, but not sure. Overall would not recommend.

It’s a clean, convenient, safe, friendly budget hotel. The building is a bit aged. Great service and full breakfast with waffles. Good for last minute or just economical. Walkable to other restaurants.

My family and I were attending the Chili-cook-off in Red River and just needed a place to sleep for 2 nights. The rooms were clean, beds were fairly comfortable, shower-head was amazing, and the continental breakfast (although small and limited) satisfied. Thank you to the helpful staff.
