The kids loved pool and slide but water was cold. Hot tub was just passable. No towels in pool area twice. Not all the water features were working. Room was clean and comfortable. Limited dining options. Ate with 3 kids in the sports bar, food was good but took a long time.

It would be nice if the restaurant was open more often and anytime we end up staying here the pool is always cold. Yes it was down for maintenance but it’s disappointing.

The lobby is so cozy and welcoming — it made a great first impression. The pool was absolutely wonderful, clean, and perfect for relaxing. The kids had an amazing time and didn’t want to leave!

Lots of amenities, pool, gym and bar

The pool was unsafe in its levels of chlorine. The air next to the water is extremely difficult to breathe. All of our children were coughing the first night and saying it was difficult to breathe. We weren’t sure if it was just having been to another pool earlier in the day so we swam again the next morning and experienced the same thing. As soon as we entered the water we were coughing and our lungs were hurting. I mentioned it to the desk and was brushed off with “it’s controlled by computer” but I don’t think the levels in the water are causing the issue. It’s the amount of chlorine sitting in the air, so they likely have an issue with their ventilation system. I tried to contact the manager to give them a polite heads up, but the email the front desk gave me bounced back.

Overall the place was fun but not clean. We had an old coffee pod in the coffee machine. There as a pile of someone’s used fake nails in the pool area. We spent two days there and no one cleaned them up. The water park area was fun but it was hard to trust things are cleaned well.

- toilet not working, had to fix it ourselves - shower temperature varies roughly 20 degrees, shower panels loose, tub spout vent falling off the wall - carpets stained throughout hallways and room - chlorine overuse in the pool to the point where it hurts your eyes and lungs - lack of lighting in room and setup made no sense, example: TV was perpendicular to the bed - A/C was set to 21 degrees and when we returned to the room the temperature was about 15 degrees - didn't get much sleep, due to fights in the hallway and constant slamming doors and partying that was not monitored by hotel staff - elevator was out of service

It was a lovely room. The pool area was well kept and having Tavern United attached was great for our family for dinner.

Everything was amazing at the Canad Inns Hotel!! Checking in was a breeze and my room couldn't have been nicer. It was clean and had everything necessary. Even though I had a room next to the pool, it was so quiet! My granddaughters had a blast in the pool! The staff were wonderful! Right from the front desk person to the cleaning staff (always smiling and saying hello) to the personnel at Aalto's! And parking was a breeze. It was so wonderful that we're planning on going back...and soon!

Excellent service. The food at the pub is great. The pool and hot tub was a nice treat.

Booked a double queen bed since it was me, my husband and our two kids. When we got there we were told there was a booking error so we were “upgraded” to a queen suite… which meant one queen bed and a pull out couch. Didn’t think much of it. The room was filthy. The bed had clearly not been washed in some time. Stains all over and an empty bottle of Crown fell out of the

Bathroom was very dirty

Room says accommodates 3!!!! There is only 1 king bed. No cot as against fire regulations. Do bed on floor???? Not happy. First time and last time here.

The foyer was very nice and open. The hotel is dated, staying somewhere dated doesn't bother me at all. I did not like how unclean everything was, my sink had mold near the drain and grime in the sink. The tub had gapes in the caulking and mold was there too, the lamps were pretty diludty and tge toilet had grime in the bowl.The pool there was grime all aling the sides of the pools,

Yes the location was good, with access to lots of conveniences around. The hotel has a large open lobby, with a unique appearance, but is incredibly dated. Definitely takes you back in time to an early 90s era. Lorraine was working the front desk, and she was very welcoming. We noticed a person with a dog exiting the hotel when we arrived. We were unaware it was a pet friendly hotel. Our daughter is deathly allergic to dogs, and so we now had to tread cautiously. When i explained this to the front desk, she was honest and disclosed that even though we will be put in a non pet friendly room, there was no guarantee that an animal had not been in there. When pet rooms are full, they do not turn away more people with pets, they simply offer them non pet friendly rooms. This is truly a huge inconvenience, because there is no guarantee housekeeping does a thorough clean. Walking down the hallway to our room, you can't help notice the incredibly stained carpets. Probably haven't been changed in 30+ years. It will make you think twice about walking around your personal room barefoot. Our room was a basic hotel room and dated. It didn't smell bad, it just had that dated smell. Like it had lived through a lot. Our beds were surprisingly comfortable. We all had a great sleep, so that was a huge perk. The swimming pool area, was truly one of a kind. I wasnt convinced it was cleaned regularly, but it has a pool/waterslide/splash pool/hottub. Good Breakfast at the restaurant

Our room was not ready at check in. The floors were soaked from being cleaned. It was obvious that someone overflowed the tub. The carpets were dirty despite being told they were just cleaned. There was food on the chairs, walls and floor. Freshly and poorly repaired drywall in the bathroom area, drug spoon behind the TV. It was bent and burned. We were supplied with multiple fans to help dry the floor, but since you can't open windows, all they did was make noise. The staff was stressed, and was trying to help, but there was little they could do as the rest of the hotel was filled with evacuees of the the wild fires. The hallways and pool area were overloaded with garbage. The staff were trying to keep up but they could not. I would have much preffered a phone call stating that they were housing the evacuees, and they needed the room to accommodate them. We were just travelling in province for a weekend trip.

The property has a very nice lobby. Clean and appealing but once through the doors to the hallway going to our room, it was filthy to the point of disgusting. Carpet was filthy with stains that could be blood.

We only didn't find how to control temperature in the room.

No windows, all doors go to inside enclosed courtyard. No individual HVAC, all air is pumped through vents in ceiling. Air smells musty. Property has an old appearance, but is well kept. Ok for a night, but I’d be hard pressed to stay longer.

Horrible room had to change but then no better very noisy AC, no windows. This place has had better days. Only plus was food and service in restaurant.

Beds are in need of replacing. . Uncomfortable. Had to sleep on the sofa bed. Better, but not by much

The room needs more lamps in the room

Mostly good experience - clean, etc. My only complaint is that there was no window to the outside, the small window opened to the indoor swimming pool. So I had to use lights all the time and had no sense of what was happening outside. Had I known, I would have asked for a different room.

The room was clean. The staff were helpful. The room was super hot and took a while to come back to normal room temp. The bathroom fan sounded like an airplane.

The room was relatively newly renovated and was clean. The hotel lobby & common areas are from the 1990’s. The lobby “restaurant” is a cafeteria with an over priced menu. The pub staff are bored & not really interested in serving. The food is dreadful.

Comfortable bed. Good pillows. Sound insulation wasn’t great and loud talking from the common area carried into the room. However, it didn’t continue long, so maybe the staff is attentive and asks loud folks to tone down! It was a good stay.

Worst experience! This was our first and last time in this hotel. When we arrived 15 mins early, we were told that check in starts at 4pm and rooms were not yet available . So, we’re ok with that though that was the 1st time that we were treated that way. Then, we decided to checked nearby places and grabbed food and snacks. We went back around 4:30pm and rooms were not ready still. We booked 2 rooms and none of them were ready. We were given complimentary drinks while waiting but no estimate what time it will be available. 2 hours waiting and Rooms were available around 6pm! Unbelievable! And they can’t even accommodate us for late check out. When we got in our rooms, not fully cleaned. Plastic forks and tissue were under the table and hairs in the bathroom. We just didn’t bother complaining more as we were already tired and the manager can’t even help us with anything.when we requested for late check out. We were told she can extend til 12nn. That’s it. Price value not worth it, rooms were dated nothing special with the hotel. Pool was ok, not even enough towels for guests.

Tavern United was a gong show. Took over an hour for our food. At one point we asked them if we should go somewhere else. No apology, explanation was a large group was there before us. Management/server should explain that when we were seated.

Staff were amazing. We got to our room to find it freezing. We cranked the heat (or so we thought) and went to the pool for a while. When we got back to the room we realized the heat was blowing cold air. Maintenance came within minutes to look and replaced this and that on the heater. The heat worked for a while and then kicked off. He had requested we not go further than the notch he put on the heater, which didn't allow the room to get quite to our liking but still decent enough. We were told we couldn't switch rooms because the hotel was completely booked, so we just dealt with it. Although it was less than ideal. We did appreciate the effort and the service from the staff. Next time we stay there, we will be sure to check heater before getting all comfy ;)

The check in clerk was very abrupt. She was not at all pleasent or friendly and actually almost rude. Not someone who should be the 1st person to greet and welcome your guests.

We travelled to the area due to a family emergency and death in the family.After booking in, we realized we would have to be staying longer than expected. The staff extended our stay without question and allowed us to remain in the same room the entire time. Housekeeping also came and cleaned our room more often than we expected. They treated us with kindness and were very professional. I couldn’t have asked for better treatment. I will always remember all of the staff who were involved in providing services for us.

We stayed for a Friday night and Saturday night. Access to the #1 Hwy is great. location is good. Friday night was quiet, easy to check in and was clean. Facility could use a facelift but was clean. Ceiling tiles had some stains on them from water damage and some of the walls needed to be wiped down (they were dirty) bedding was clean and towels were good. Saturday night was very loud, quiet time is 11pm to 7am and we had loud music until almost 4am, people running up and down the hallway and people talking loudly and sounded like a party. I did call down to the front desk at just after 2am but no one answered the phone. When checking out, we were not asked how our stay was. It started out good but ended with getting limited sleep overnight Saturday. That was disappointing.

I really liked the friendly lady who checked us in. And then she called into the room to ask if everything was OK.

I like how we are surrounded by other businesses and restaurants. If i didnt have a vehicle staying here i could just walk across the street for McDonald's,subway or A&W. ... only down side was the staff was very mean and unhelpful with getting us 1 extra pillow and blanket.. fire alarm went off at 10:30 and woke my baby up too. But other than that. The stay was exceptional..and i would absolutely rent again if i had the chance..

Perfect hotel for a quick trip to Portage la Prairie

Great location

It is a low cost resort. It is a 5 min city or a cruise ship on land. Did not have to even leave the building for essentials. World's largest coke can is not even a 2 min walk outside the building. The train station is a 5 min drive away. (The Canadian and the Churchill stop there.

Quiet area

Large room, good location right off the highway. Air conditioner is right next to one bed which isn’t ideal.

It had a great breakfast price

This property is quite dated. There was a stain on the carpet in our room. Dim lighting in the rooms as well. The service at the tavern was poor. Overpaid for our room (not worth it unless you can get it for cheap)...

It began with them giving us a room which had a dirty smell to it. We asked for another room. They upgraded it to a very nice room 😊 That night we went to their restaurant they served me raw chicken. Not impressed.
