We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos! The views from the terrace are unrivaled, and we loved sitting out with a glass of wine, while soaking up the sun and the gorgeous Douro Valley from high on the hilltop. We were able to walk down to town by way of the path through the vineyards. While the hike back up took a little more effort, it was very well worth it - especially when we were rewarded with a swim in the pool. We loved how quiet and relaxing it was to be nestled in the hills above the town.

We had a wonderful two nights here. The warmest of welcomes and nothing was too much trouble for Daniel who helped us most of the time and the other staff too. It is wonderfully located for a quiet trip enjoying the spectacular views and outdoor space & pool. The room was basically appointed but comfortable and had a/c. Meals were delicious and it was a very different experience to sit around the table with other guests from around the world. Great wine and port selection too

The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The views from the back of the property are most incredible, leaving the front of the hotel very non-descript. The prepared dinners were great, especially for those of us who did not want to head back down into Pinhao. The breakfast was wonderful, although they lacked eggs. The only real negative is how to get to the property and, less so, the parking. The directions from Pinhao do not reflect the steepness and the very narrow streets that you have to traverse. Finding the actual hotel was quite frustrating.

This place understands what hospitality is. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed as if it was our home. Our bags were taken to our room and we had a welcome drink on the terrace overlooking the spectacular Douro Valley. We joined other guests for a family style meal and enjoyed getting to know people from many different countries. Amazing place to relax, appreciate the area, with a wonderful team to help with questions and make the visit super comfortable.

The view is stunning. Relaxing around the pool and taking in the view was a very pleasant way to enjoy the beauty of the Douro region. We had a lovely dinner sitting around the grand dining table and visiting with the other guests from around d the world. Driving there and parking is difficult, however. Best to take the boat or train to Pinhao and then take a taxi to the property.

Bernardo's family has owned the property for generations and both he and the staff take great pride in taking care of their guests. We took long walks through the vineyards, did a wine and olive oil tasting and enjoyed dinner with the other guests. Big thank you to Daniel who brightened every day with his jovial personality and to Bernardo for his excellent suggestions of things to do in Porto. This was the favorite stop of our weeklong visit to Portugal.

This is a magnificent property with majestic views and a wonderful host who cares deeply about his guests happiness and accommodates any request to the best of his ability. Vi skulle overraske nogle venner på stedet. Hotellet spillede med på spøgen fra start og hjalp tol med at kunne gennemføre overraskelsen. Vi kunne ikke have gjort det uden Daniel og Paulo. Derudover er det et fantastisk sted som vi har hørt om i mange år. Og det skuffede bestemt ikke. Lokation, personalet, udsigten og fællesspisningen gorde vores ophold mindeværdigt.

5 stars are not enough for this extraordinary place. From the moment we arrived, Bernardo made us feel like family. The view is magnificent. The family style meals are delicious. Otroligt trevlig ägare, Bernando och personal. De var så hjälpsamma och delade gärna förslag på aktiviteter och bra restauranger i området. Vi hade även en fantastisk middag runt deras stora bord med övriga gäster. Fantastiskt ställe. Hit kommer vi återvända. 10/10.

We shared two large stone tables that looked centuries old. Dinner was served outdoors at 7:30 p.m., with an amazing sunset over the mountains and river as our backdrop. Sharing the tables allowed us to meet fellow travelers from Holland and Belgium, adding a pleasant social element to the evening. After traveling all day from Porto and visiting Quinta Nova winery, which we highly recommend near Pinhão, we were ready for a good night’s sleep. The next morning, we enjoyed a complete breakfast in the beautiful main dining room, including homemade pastries and delicious Pastéis de Nata.
