Not hard to find. Very secluded and incredibly beautiful gardens and landscaping! Peaceful setting though jet traffic overhead was a bit noisy in the morning but not too bad. Hosts were extremely helpful and caring. Room basic but fully adequate and spotlessly clean. Private balcony and delicious breakfast delivered right to our door finished our stay perfectly. Would love to stay here again!

This is a delightful place located near to San Jose airport. The rooms are spacious and each has a private balcony that looks out onto the forest below. They serve a lovely breakfast to your room that is wonderful to eat on your deck. There is a short walking trail that you can enjoy that goes down partway into the valley below. This looked nice in the photos and it was just as nice in person. Got so see Keel-billed Toucans flying by at breakfast.

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature,with forrest view and river below yet relatively close to the airport.Listen to birds singing,river water passing by and beautiful stars at night(no light pollution)..Super clean and modern room. Stayed three nights and really enjoyed,no tv or phone in room(no need) but wifi super.Hosts Nidia and Matthieu were super with their hospitality,they recommended places to visit and restaurants.Breakfast delivered daily to your door at the time you wish,free airport shuttle.Highly recommend to everybody.

Excellent location close to the airport and yet seemed like you were in a rural part. Nice nature path behind the hotel. Nice continental breakfast (fruits, croissants, toast, coffee). The owners Mathieu and Nidia are very helpful with suggestions of where to go and where to eat. Would definitely stay there again.

I had a wonderful experience at Pibi Boreal hotel! The location is perfect—very close to the SJO airport, which made my travel so convenient. One of the best parts is the free shuttle service to and from the airport, which was punctual and easy to use. The hotel itself is spotless. Every corner, even the tiniest area, was incredibly clean and well-maintained. It’s clear that cleanliness is a top priority here, and I really appreciated that. Sehr schöne Unterkunft für den Start in unseren Urlaub. Mathieu hat uns vom Flughafen abgeholt, die Kommunikation im Vorfeld lief sehr gut. Es war sehr sauber, das Frühstück liebevoll mit einem tollen Blick vom Balkon. Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen

Quite basic and ‘tired’ looking rooms. Cold water only in the sink for hand washing. Tepid shower and thin towels- It felt a bit like going back to back packing in our youth. Pick up and drop off from and to the airport was a nice bonus. Good breakfast and coffee. Good priced beer. It’s away from any shops/restaurants although cheap uber ride to down town is $5. Or you can order u er eats but this also felt like being a student again!The driving and traffic is terrible so not as convenient a location as it first seems for a one night stay between flights. The garden was great with a chance for seeing more birds but the early checkout of 10am and a feeling given of being obliged to leave the property with no access to facilities like you get with other hotels made for a long day waiting for late over night flight home. On a positive note the owner was happy to keep our luggage and meet us down town with the car to take us to the airport which took an element of stress away. With hindsight we wouldn’t chose this location for a night between flights due to the above points in future but all part of the experience of travel

We stayed here on our first night in Costa Rica. Check in was easy, the hosts were very pleasant, and the breakfast was great (I'll never complain about fresh croissants and Costa Rican pineapple). The rooms were very clean and well appointed. The view was amazing... My kids loved eating breakfast on the balcony. Amazing stay, and a great start to our vacation.

Pros: The woman who greeted us at check in was wonderful, the grounds were beautiful, the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and delivered to the room. There were toucans in the trees in the morning and many butterflies on the property. Cons: Immediately after checking in, we attempted to wash our hands in the bathroom sink. The sink handle fell off. We were not offered a repair or another room - instead we were given a bottle of water to wash with during our stay, and at checkout the rude man who was at the front desk insisted that we should pay for the broken sink! He asked us repeatedly how much we would be offering to cover their costs. Only after i explained several times that we should have been given a room without a broken sink and that it was not our responsibility to cover this cost did he finally back down. There was also loud pulsing music until well after midnight. I hope our experience with this gentleman is unique as the property has many fine features.

Clean room, nice hosts. I wish I had a better view from my balcony, other than the bushes. Also, maybe ham and eggs would have been a better alternative for breakfast. I never eat jam and butter. Other than that, the place is very quiet and relatively close to the airport. I'd definitely stay here again.

This place is amazing. Also, the family running it are so friendly. They are great host’s delivering breakfast to our door each morning. The room was very large and very clean. It was also a very secure location with great views. I would highly recommend to others.

It was a little hard at first to get here because it is a small out-of-the-way place that many taxi drivers had not heard of. However, once looking at an online map, it was easy to get to and very close to the airport - only 5 miles or so. It is a quiet spot, and the deck overlooking the trees is a wonderful place to have breakfast. The beds and linens are top quality, the bathroom is clean and new with a wonderful shower with plenty of hot water. I will consider staying here again.

We arrived late and left early, but the owners were very helpful. They greeted us at our car with an umbrella, and provided a service of pizza and salad. The room was comfortable and a good size, and had everything you need. It’s out of the way but it was fine for us as we had a vehicle. We would consider staying again so that we could explore the property.

A lovely spot to stay as you fly in or out of SJO. It is run by a wonderful family and friendly staff. The rooms are well designed, each with a private balcony. Quality textiles and plumbing fixtures. Breakfast is delivered to your door so you can enjoy eating out on the balcony. Be aware that sounds do travel well between rooms, we arrived late and I think it was likely that our neighbors would have been able to hear us walking around and speaking quietly. I would have loved to arrive earlier to explore the property gardens and just relax on the balcony. I hope to return someday!

This is a family run B&B - we arrived after midnight and they had arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport and they were awake and waiting for us on arrival to help settle us in and arrange a time for breakfast to be delivered in the morning. They went above and beyond to assist us and were very kind - 10 stars if I could :)

Mathieu was such an excellent host! He dropped me and my friend off to/from the hotel even though we arrived at odd hours. Both owners treated us as if we were family and provided recommendations for things to do around San Jose. The garden outside of the hotel is so beautiful too, and they provide daily breakfast which is so yummy. We will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we visit Costa Rica!

Enjoyed our last night in Costa Rica by staying at Hotel Pibi Boreal. The owners are so kind and took great care of us from the moment my family arrived until we left. Highly recommend this place for a great relaxing stay, delicious fruit breakfast, and convenient to the airport!

We were a group of 9 adults coming in to stay for one night before our morning flight out the next day. The hosts were very responsive and kind. They welcomed us and even picked us up from the rental car agency after dropping off our cars. The balconies are really nice. We enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing on our last night in Costa Rica. The next morning, we had a very early flight. Our host arranged for transportation for part of our group (since there were 9 of us with luggage) and shuttled us to the airport. His wife made warm croissants for us to take with us since we were leaving so early and missing breakfast. We couldn't have asked for better hospitality.

Excellent service in this family-run bed and breakfast. After a long and late flight, the airport pick up was appreciated and to wake up with a beautiful view of a tropical garden and forest area was so much nicer than waking next to a highway at a typical airport hotel. We arranged for our rental car to be delivered to the property, so we were able to avoid the congested traffic of San Jose. Lovely continental breakfast with croissants and coffee.

Matt went above and beyond to not only make sure we had transportation from the airport to the hotel but he set us up with transportation to where we needed to go the next day. Seriously made my stay allllll that much more enjoyable and smooth sailing. Seriously couldn’t thank them enough. Even his kids are well mannered and helpful! Great family, and family business they have!

Pros: The woman who greeted us at check in was wonderful, the grounds were beautiful, the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and delivered to the room. There were toucans in the trees in the morning and many butterflies on the property. Cons: Immediately after checking in, we attempted to wash our hands in the bathroom sink. The sink handle fell off. We were not offered a repair or another room - instead we were given a bottle of water to wash with during our stay, and at checkout the rude man who was at the front desk insisted that we should pay for the broken sink! He asked us repeatedly how much we would be offering to cover their costs. Only after i explained several times that we should have been given a room without a broken sink and that it was not our responsibility to cover this cost did he finally back down. There was also loud pulsing music until well after midnight. I hope our experience with this gentleman is unique as the property has many fine features.

I had a wonderful experience at Pibi Boreal hotel! The location is perfect—very close to the SJO airport, which made my travel so convenient. We arrived very late and the hosts were so kind and made sure we had a quick check in and breakfast at our selected time. the directions took us straight there. the property is stunning and it really feels like you are right in the jungle. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a place with airport accessibility but does not want to be in the city. we hope to return!

It was a little hard at first to get here because it is a small out-of-the-way place that many taxi drivers had not heard of. However, once looking at an online map, it was easy to get to and very close to the airport - only 5 miles or so. It is a quiet spot, and the deck overlooking the trees is a wonderful place to have breakfast. The beds and linens are top quality, the bathroom is clean and new with a wonderful shower with plenty of hot water. I will consider staying here again.

I think most people use this as it’s really close to the airport but very quiet and it’s perfect for that. The owners will come and collect you from the airport (you need to message them beforehand, again when you are boarding your flight, when you land and again when you clear immigration, they then meet you outside). It’s clean, basic and extremely quiet, we barely heard any plane noise and it was totally silent and pitch black overnight. Lovely gardens to walk around in with hummingbirds. There’s no restaurant but they can sell you basic snacks or you can order in via a delivery app. Breakfast was nice - they bring it on a tray for you to eat on the terrace. Great choice

This is a great getaway for couples or the individual looking to unplug and just enjoy nature. It is close to the airport but insulated from the hustle and bustle of the city. Staff is kind and attentive to needs. You can still have food delivered but there isn't anything in walking distance. Catch a ride to Alajuela if you want to shop or be in a nightlife area.

I'm so grateful I stayed here when I needed a hotel for 1 night before flying out of SJO. It felt like a continuation of my 2 weeks in the jungle/beach - away from the busyness of the city. The accommodations were great, the balcony looking right into the trees was a perfect spot to read, do some yoga/meditation and enjoy breakfast. I will definitely be staying here again next time I need a place near SJO and I highly recommend you do too. One note is they don't have a restaurant on site, so if you need dinner, pick something up along the way (which is what I did). There's a good sized refrigerator in the room to keep your items cold!

Everyone was lovely at the stay, the garden and rooms are beautiful, and breakfast was quite a tasty way to start the day. It was an excellent stay and we would gladly return! They also offered a ride to the airport that we didn’t need, but it was very kind!

Hotel Pibi Boreal was the perfect place to stay after a long flight into San José, Costa Rica. The owners were incredibly friendly and made everything easy from start to finish. One of the biggest conveniences was the transportation and car rental coordination. The hotel arranged our airport pickup, and they partner with a car rental agency that delivered our rental car directly to the hotel on the morning we checked out. At the end of our vacation, we stayed at the hotel again, returned the rental car there, and took the hotel's shuttle to the airport. The entire process was seamless and stress-free. The best place to stay near SJO if you prefer a more nature-filled, boutique bed and breakfast experience than a run-of-the-mill airport hotel. They even remove the watermelon seeds in your breakfast fruit plate, served to your door as part of a beautiful breakfast tray. And I had at least 5 hummingbird sightings while eating said breakfast on my balcony!
